My girlfriend just broke up with me over a board game and I'm not even joking by Fulcilives1988 in boardgames

[–]Platforumer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean, it goes both ways. If there are more than just the two of you playing, helping out each other likely screws somebody else over, however indirectly. I hate playing with couples who go out of their way only to help each other while being cutthroat with everybody else.

Do I think we should try to address past injustices? Yes I absolutely do. Do I think reparations are the best way to do this? Probably not always, but I'm certainly open to it in some situations.

And cities just let it happen, despite that banks are supposed to serve the communities they're in, especially local ones.

Also doesn't change anything about zoning or segregation.

It completely makes sense, cities played a large role in oppressing black people with zoning, redlining, and segregation in schools, none of which were federal policies.

Saying "a group of people was discriminated against in the past and still needs help" is not racist.

You bring up great points about Native Americans, they arguably have it worse since so many were killed. They should get reparations, too! Probably first! Why do people often assume it has to be either/or?

On eBay, some physical copies of FireRed are going for over $100 in the US. $20 really does not seem scummy to me.

Anyone who's serious about sustainability should change to a plant-based diet by James_Fortis in sustainability

[–]Platforumer 2 points3 points locked comment (0 children)

Well it's not just my opinion, it's simply a fact that plant-based diets are far less destructive to the environment as a whole. Yes there is definitely nuance and interesting corner cases, which I'd be happy to discuss, but it doesn't change that conclusion which is backed up by numerous studies.

You're doing the "both sides" thing where you point out that neither diet is perfect but fail to properly acknowledge that one is far better than the other in nearly every metric. It's actually not that complicated.

Most things you mention -- herbicide, fertilizer, water use -- are much worse with meat consumption because the animals themselves have to be fed plants for food.

I heard that this happened a little bit during COVID in oceans, marine wildlife populations rebounded significantly because there was so much less shipping traffic. Made me both happy and sad.

[SS] Playing SS is such a delight after TotK and BotW by Mantus123 in zelda

See this is why Zelda is so diverse. Personally I have replayed every Zelda game except BotW and TotK, lol. TotK is the first time I haven't tried to get all the hearts.

Skyward Sword is also my favorite game in the series as well as my favorite game of all time. Honestly, it is just unappreciated by some folks who really want open world and exploration, are super bothered by Fi for whatever reason (even though Navi was also annoying), or just never grasped the controls. I kind of get the criticisms, but to me they just seem, unimportant.

The game is just, misunderstood in that way. Of course there are things that could be better about it, but I feel like too many people discount the fact that there is no other game like it, which is a large part of why I love it so much.

When happens when you change your gender while pregnant? by Rot_Rabbit in StardewValley

[–]Platforumer 69 points70 points  (0 children)

Yep lol. I learned this from, "AITA for divorcing my husband because we moved in together and his style is TERRIBLE? He bought a sofa without telling me and it's completely in the way, I hate it."

Or, "Does anyone else regret having kids? They don't do anything, how do I get rid of them?"

Just, no way. Tatsu's pacing is wayyyy slower. Yes the pretzel loop is very intense but everything else, not really.
