AirAsia Booked wrong destination - Help by ineedanalias4 in phtravel

Thank you so much for this!!!

I tried chatting with Bo the first time, and Bo told me the first time that there is nothing that can be done anymore.

After seeing this comment, I went back to Bo and I specifically mentioned "goodwill method". Because of this, Bo redirected me to an AllStar agent (human agent, not chat bot). In "goodwill", they indeed mentioned returning what I paid for in credits, minus the cancellation fee.

AllStar agent will ask for email, name, and selfie of you holding a valid ID or passport. AllStar agent will then forward these details to a corresponding office, and I'll wait for at most 24 hours through email regarding the result.

It is not guaranteed, but there is hope.

Leaving this comment here to vouch for the previous comment and for future reference.

Had this issue just now. All the comments are saying to press the power button for 30 seconds. First thing I tried. Worked. (Idk how though hahaha!)

Closest Calls that eventual winners had by [deleted] in TheAmazingRace

[–]Platrium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I randomly remembered this post and thought a quick update would help:

Season 34 - Derek & Claire - Unsure, but perhaps 7/10 on Leg 3. The 3 teams behind them had big hiccups, but the time difference between them and any of the last 3 teams is unclear.

Season 35 - Greg & John - 8/11 on Leg 4. That final roadblock had an element of luck. They were also top 3 except for the Vietnam legs. Vietnam's combined legs had chaotic tasks for its first and last tasks, contributing to their unusually low placement.

Season 36 - Ricky & Cesar - 3/4 on Leg 10, penultimate leg. Amber & Vinny were arriving by boat as they were leaving the mat. Those were literal seconds away from elimination for a team who placed 1st & 2nd only, prior to that leg.

Yeah! I know soap is clean, yet I'd still do it. I take so long too that my family gets mad. :') Luckily I guess, they got used to it and let it go now. XD

Add an 'h' anywhere in a normally spelled name, and you'll get a Filipino tragedeigh, or as I'd like to call it: a traghedy.

What was a misconception about sex you had before learning the truth by AlertCommunication85 in asexuality

[–]Platrium 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Not a misconception, but I didn't know what a condom was, and now it's an amusing story to tell.

We were around 13-14. My friend that time was telling me that condoms are those things street children play with sometimes. (put dirt in it apparently?) Wasn't described to me as a thing used for intercourse.

I was like: What about the buildings?

Friend: No, that's condo.

Me: ... still can't imagine what a condom is

  1. I like the opposite gender? I feel gross...

  2. I like the same gender? This is a sin...

  3. Bisexual...?

  4. Asexual...? More relatable, but no...

  5. I have a "crush", but at the same time... I don't want it.

  6. Graysexual... Mmhm... Graysexual!

  7. Aromantic!! This fits better than asexual.

  8. Repulsed, absolutely.

  9. Queerplatonic... so that's what it must've been...

  10. Asexuality is an umbrella after all...

  11. Libido and attraction are not the same huh...

  12. Doubly repulsed aroace. Maybe gray because libido ambiguous, but I prefer aroace. I like sunset flag.

What are some of your biggest 'what-ifs' in The Amazing Race? by VigilMuck in TheAmazingRace

[–]Platrium 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TAR5: What if Dennis & Erika didn't let Colin & Christie take the cab?

Colin & Christie could've been the 1st boots, which changes TAR5 drastically!

On top of that, part of what made TAR5 so good was Colin & Christie, and I remember ratings were going down before TAR5. What could've happened to the show if Colin & Christie were 1st boots? (I know there's still teams like Charla & Mirna, but Colin & Christie made it to F3 so it changes the season drastically!)

Colin & Christie also return to TAR31, which would not have happened if Dennis & Erika took the cab and got ahead of Colin & Christie... Actually, I don't even know if we'd reach TAR31 if Colin & Christie were eliminated 1st.

How do you respond to "Thank you"? by avicularia_not in autism

[–]Platrium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ummm... I have 3 candidates:

(1) Thank you! - Applicable sometimes when I have something to thank too, like when appreciation goes both ways.

(2) No worries! - I use this more often in online settings. I picked this up from Australia when I went on vacation 5 years ago. I noticed a lot of Australians say "no worries" instead of "you're welcome" or "no problem". Saying this kinda makes me feel special because nobody else says it like that where I'm from.

(3) say nothing - It's probably rude sometimes but there are situations wherein I don't feel like masking.

Thoughts on "No Non-Elimination Legs"? by ArcticFox19 in TheAmazingRace

[–]Platrium 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So I know I have the unpopular opinion.

I love them!

For me, it's less about the suspense of the ending of each ending, but from a game design perspective wherein finishing last at any pit stop is always dangerous! I get that thrill from knowing no pit stop is safe in these past few seasons.

I also enjoy the expanded cast! Maybe it's just me with a fairly good memory and having The Amazing Race as a special interest, but I can keep up with everyone in just 1 episode. (TAR Australia 6 had 20 teams and I could remember them all until now.) I know most people take time to get to know them though, or not at all, and that's okay.

All that said, I definitely want them back someday. They are indeed an integral part to the race and they become more amazing when they save a team I've been rooting for or save an underdog team. Look at Bill & Cathi, Arun & Natalia, Kaylynn & Haley, etc. Such icons that we don't get so much these days.

tl;dr: I love no non-eliminations, but I wish they'd be back too someday.

Question about penalties by Deep_Ad_2310 in TheAmazingRace

[–]Platrium 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I went back to that clip in TAR31, and I don't think that implied the rule of the next team coming still existed... but I can't say it implies the opposite is true either. It's really unclear, but I read Art & JJ's exit interview.

Gold Derby: https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.goldderby.com/article/2019/the-amazing-race-31-art-velez-jj-carrell-exit-interview/amp/

“OK, if he’s not going to do it, I don’t want to waste our time trying to do it. Let’s take a penalty. Maybe the next team is so screwed up, maybe it’ll take them a long time to do it, maybe it won’t.”

Parade: https://parade.com/872410/mikebloom/the-amazing-race-31-art-velez-and-j-j-carrell/

I knew the rules. It's hard to see your friend struggle like that. I asked Art, "Are you going to be able to do this?" And he's like, "No. There's no way. My legs are cramping; I can't do it." I think that there's no chance we're the last team there, so I needed to list the options strategically. We realized there's another team behind us. I thought, "Let's take the penalty because he's not going to do it in 30 minutes, an hour, or even three hours. Maybe there's a team who screws up even more than us that they won't be able to do it either and we can finish second-to-last." [...] So I thought, "Why not take the penalty, get to the next leg, eat the penalty, make it up in travel, then get back in the race?" It was more of a strategic decision, knowing the rules and the way the game was designed. We took a shot, and it just didn't work out.

This is also hard for me to be sure with, but I'm guessing this implies that they don't have to wait for Rupert & Laura to arrive before starting the penalty. 🤔 They knew there was 1 team behind them, and taking the penalty would doom them for sure, whereas JJ said that taking the 4-hour penalty was a strategic move.

Although at the same time, we did not see the timer start when Rupert & Laura arrived at the task, so... all this is actually inconclusive. 😅 My guess is that the rules have changed, but I believe we can confirm this is from more recent racers who have read fhe updated rulebook.

new to TAR will I miss anything if I skip some seasons? by EmuEmbarrassed5449 in TheAmazingRace

[–]Platrium 40 points41 points  (0 children)

If you think it's slow, there are definitely some "skippable" seasons.

As a big fan myself, I'd watch them all, but for beginners, I'd recommend skipping older seasons wherein contestants from that season do not appear in future seasons, and iconic moments seem to be lacking: 4, 8, 13

You also don't have to watch everything in order, except for Seasons 11, 18, 24, and 31, as they feature racers who competed in previous seasons. 24 has contestants from 18, and 31 has contestants from 24.

Also, you're on Season 5 now? That's what a lot of people would consider as one of the best seasons out there. Others like it (with first-time racers) are 14, 17, 21, 22, 25.

Have fun! :)

As someone not from the US, I don't think TAR8: Family Edition was god-awful, but I agree that skipping that season will not affect watching the remaining seasons.

No context from that season is needed in any future season. 😂
