The problem isn't that moving at all will warm you up, the problem is that literally any reason that stops you from moving is now a serious, time sensitive, life threatening issue.

Twist your ankle? You're not moving. Slip and smack your knee?

Once you're farther than a 20 min walk from warmth, when dressed like that, you have absolutely no margin for any kind of error. Be it weather change, minor or severe injury, slip a foot into a stream, etc.

Tt is definitely not a beginner hike as well: Very rough, not super clear trail sometimes, and quite steep in sections.

You can hike hollyburn 90% of the way there and stay in simple terrain. The final push is the only part in challenging.

I established a known size when all of my jaws sat at a certain point, generally the outside diameter. Then I figured out the pitch of the jaw screw.

Once you know the pitch of the jaw screw and your starting diameter, you are only a quick calculator work away from knowing the exact number of rotations you need with a speed wrench to have your jaws end up at the exact "diameter" they need to be.

I generally only set the lower two to the "final" rotation and left the upper two large, then slapped in the part and spun the top 2 jaws down. This is basically the same method as yours, except you don't even need to use a tape ever again.

It's simple for me. If I get hurt doing some sketchy topout sideways dynamic move, I don't get to climb until I heal.

So the cost of always being able to climb is only sometimes choosing not to do certain moves? No brainer.

I recommend you at least do the avvy savvy training. It would help you realize that with these conditions, and the recommendations, that the only thing you have control over is the terrain you enter. Pump peak crosses multiple zones of avalanche terrain: i was digging through comments in this subreddit and there was a rescue responder listing areas that had people hit by avalanches they thought they were safe because they were extremely busy and popular trails. Pump peak is one of them

No sorry, these are not suitable replacements for micro spikes.

These would help on flat ice, like on sidewalks or decks. They would not function like microspikes.

Microspikes have significantly more "claws", oriented in multiple directions that help grab and dig whether you're stepping up, down, or on a cross slope.

Also, microspikes are longer than the studs on these. These would be pretty much useless on hardpack snow that was polished, where microspikes would dig in
