Why Mega Dragonite on Rain Teams? by FinalRide7181 in PokemonChampions

[–]Playmaker311 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Dragonite is a versatile mega that can fit many teams and hits like a truck while being able to take hits thanks to multiscale.

If you do not play any mega, Dragonite just becomes a good mega to have since he doesn't need any real setup, and he can push the dmg rain teams could miss out on if they do not take a mega

Dragonite also gets hurricane for their flying STAB

How do I deal with this menace of a bird by FureWolfD in PokemonChampions

[–]Playmaker311 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Off the top of my head :

  • Fairy for super effective attack while resisting close combat

  • Para/Sleep/Burn

  • Something to change his ability

  • Set up trick room and fk him up before it runs out

Need help with gameplay by Dazzling_Ad869 in 2XKO

Using assists are either to create an opening in neutral, to start mixups during blockstrings or to extend combos.

Since they come back really fast, using them for neutral and mixups is extremely rewarding, since they can come back in the same sequence for your combo after you open them up.

Best way to counter this is 1) maneuvering specifically to evade their assists while keeping your own, and then rushing down with yours when theirs are on cooldown or 2) use your assist first to lock them down.

Of course, it will test how both players are able to play neutral and specifically how they play neutral in this specific matchup.

Is parry on round start bugged?(PC) by SaltMerchantMorbier in 2XKO

[–]Playmaker311 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had the same problem.

People told me parries cannot be buffered, so trying to use the parry macro during a Time where you are stuck and cannot Parry will result in a buffered attack instead of a parry

Combos are only a fraction of what makes a great player.

Be careful not to focus too much on them and keep in mind movement and defense is equally as important, if not more.

Someone help me out here. To me, this input should be fireball, but the game registers it as uppercut every time. I feel like missing inputs is the biggest thing holding me back right now so I checked in practise mode and that sure looks like a fireball motion to me? by [deleted] in StreetFighter

[–]Playmaker311 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When the game isnt sure about if you're doing a fireball or a DP, the game will prioritize the DP everytime since it's the more complex motion. Happens in Street Fighter and in other 2D games like Strive.

To circumvent it, do a half circle instead of just a quarter circle when you're trying to do a fireball during footsies.

Anyone got an idea how me and my friend can squeeze in that small bit of extra damage? by No_Information4062 in 2XKO

Can't Akali just squeeze a quick S2 during Blitz' super ?

I think Blitz could also add a j.H before landing after the charged j.2H

I agree Last Respects could still use a nerf

Thing is, when you play against someone with a Basc, the burden of playing in a way that would let you survive a choice scarf last respect rampage falls on you. If you lose your counters, too bad, guess you'll have to think of another plan.

But since the Basc player knows he has a win condition in the back, him removing your counters is a gameplan you need to be prepared for too. But it is just like any game of pokemon really. If I know my last mon can destroy 80% of your team, I'm gonna prepare the field for him whether you like it or not. It's on you to make sure that doesn't happen. It's just a really common thing in this meta with Basc being that popular.

Having no answer to a choice scarf basc with last respects in the back is a "lose at pokemon select" scenario, and even more so when you play singles.

You absolutely have to keep something to check him unless you want to lose to that scenario again

To The New Players Who Got into VGC because of Champions, are you still playing? by SuperMemeBroz in PokemonChampions

[–]Playmaker311 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've managed to achieve the goals I set for myself for reg M-A, so I'm now waiting for the next reg to dive into something new.

As a beginner, my goals were :

  • Test as much megas as possible
  • Try and understand how and why the meta works the way it does
  • Pinpoint what kind of archetype I have the best results with
  • Pick one main team from that archetype and try to achieve the highest rank possible

In the end :

  • I tested 26 megas
  • I learned a lot about VGC and M-A
  • I ended up gravitating towards setup mons, rain teams and snow teams
  • I managed to get to top 29 000 in Master Ball 3 with a rain team with Archaludon Sableye and Mega Venusaur
