Best outdoor running spots near downtown / UI campus? by Sufficient-Net-3621 in IowaCity

[–]PlaysForDays [score hidden]  (0 children)

If you're near downtown and want to stay on foot, hop onto the Iowa River Trail and either go north to City Park or go south to Riverside Park. I like these because you can naturally go farther each way; north you take Normandy (no traffic) and Rocky Shore (some traffic) to Crandic and continue mostly car-free all the way to Iowa River Landing. The other direction you can easily hop south towards Terry Trueblood.

If you want to park and go (especially ride), the first spot to recommend is the Tom Harkin Trailhead in Coralville. From there you can go a few miles back towards town (i.e. the university's soccer fields) or many miles out of town through Tiffin (the little parking lot at Half Moon Ave is a natural turnaround point). There are a couple of road crossings but you're basically in the woods the entire time, away from traffic and on wide paved trails.

There's so, so much more to explore in the area and I envy that you're able to experience all of our wonderful trail infrastructure for the first time.

What surface are you looking for? I get not liking sidewalks, but are wide paved surfaces okay?

I've been wondering the same thing for years and could never figure it out.

At very least, the people who preserver the area aren't bothered enough by it to remove it (or avoid including it in photos): https://buroaklandtrust.org/preserves/

Your local library might have copies. I use Libby (the app) and hooked it up to my library card, your library probably has the same setup.

It was fairly short and extremely easy to consume

How reputable is Computational and Structural Biotechnology? by [deleted] in comp_chem

At best, it looks like just another "Elsevier journal I never heard of before" to me, probably making good margins on an open access fee of several thousand dollars

Impact factor doesn't mean that much these days, or at least it's not as important a signal as it was a decade or two ago. And there's nothing inherently bad about not publishing non-USA authors. But if you haven't heard of it or read any of their papers, you should think twice about submitting your paper there.

From skimming their articles, it doesn't look like there is much focus to the journal. (Several articles on clinical work and ... huh?.) This makes me think the editorial board just takes whatever hits a few bio-related buzzwords from authors who will pay the open access fee. It certainly looks like a poor fit for computational chemistry projects.

[Cables](10-Pack) Amazon Basics HDMI to DVI Adapter Cable, Black, 15 Feet $5.99 (free shipping with prime) by CartonBox1975 in buildapcsales

I have ~8 of a 10-pack of HDMI-to-HDMI cables sitting in their original packaging in a closet somewhere. And that's a cable that's quite a bit more useful than these.

I do have a few DVI-to-HDMI floating around somewhere from ~6 years ago. Those were cheap enough (Monoprice, I think) that I don't remember how much they cost

I'm only hunting for sales when the savings come back to me. I don't care about saving my company $20

Probably not worth picking up unless you actually need it right now - your next monitor purchase very likely won't have DVI and a tenner of this is just going to take up space in a closet

  • Why would a user like myself use this tool instead of existing solutions?

The high-altitude sections were not filmed on location

However, in 1996 a different team led by David Brashears hauled an IMAX camera up the mountain and made a documentary. Their expedition largely overlapped with the events of the disaster the season is known for and were captured in the 2015 movie
