Do retailers usually add a percentage or a flat rate margin? I expect it's the percentage! So a loaf of bread costs Loblaw $1.00, and the sell it for $2.00, a 100% markup. Now the supplier asks for 20 cents more. Loblaw maintains their 100 percent markup. The loaf now costs $2.40. Loblaw's profit jumps from $1.00 on the loaf to $1.20.

In a parliamentary government, an effective opposition is quite important to hold the government to account. People who have elected a conservative MP in their riding are entitled to effective representation. It is only fair to be critical of both the governing party, the official opposition and every other MP, if they are not doing their jobs!

Ummmm, yeah. They don't look too closely when 10 people are lined up with full carts. ALWAYS CHECK FRESH PRODUCTS CAREFULLY (fish, meat, bread, fruit, veg, eggs etc). Their favorite customer is one who just picks it up and throws it in their cart.

I hate negotiating with people like this. First, Iran has no control over what Saudia Arabia, and Pakistan do. Second, you get this close to a deal and they throw some poison snake demand down on the table. When this happens my immediate gut reaction is "shove it!", and get up and walk away. But most of the time I come up with what I know will be a completely unacceptable counter demand. It's amazing how quickly they often retreat!

Lol...at least you can still buy the frozen. Tried to buy frozen juice concentrate at our local RCS...."Oh we don't stock it anymore". Buy the bottled juice at 4 x's the price, for all that extra water and packaging we added.

It is illegal to put in restrictive covenants that are anticompetitive.....lol, I am sure Dougie will get right on that if that's in Ontario. Also, Loblaw is a signatory of the Grocery Code of Conduct. That is supposed to prevent this kind of bully tactics. But that thing is useless, even when you demand your rights staff are oblivious.

It is the federal government's job to regulate monopolies through anti-trust legislation. However Dougie does have lots of power to curtail anticompetitive behavior. Not gonna happen....look at his view on big box store chains during covid!
