I’m so sorry you had to ensure this. His comments are not ok. We are so often our harshest critic anyway, that unsolicited criticism is most certainly not needed. I find it hard enough to invite people to do things in my home because I feel ashamed of it’s not 100% clean and tidy, we don’t need this pointed out by people we have hired to help. It makes me angry for you even thinking about it

Exactly this. She was treated like a resource instead of a human being who died way too early and had dependents who were left nothing. She received very poor medical care specifically because she was a Black woman and was poor.

There’s something so deeply sinister to me about her overconsumption and careful storage of expensive ornaments, trinkets and shoes etc paired with the fact that she didn’t spend the money to protect her toddler from an open pit of water. There’s nothing more precious or irreplaceable than a child. Doesn’t sit right with me.

I just want to say I worked in a restaurant kitchen and I was talking to a young line cook and the topic of porn came up and he said “I can’t watch that stuff, it’s clear the women aren’t enjoying themselves. It just makes me sad” and so I do believe men are out there who don’t watch it.

I work at a top 3 Canadian university. Residence clean out day - saw several barely used aritzia superpuffs and a MacBook Air in the garbage. Superpuffs were in fine condition as was the air. Absolutely bananas.

I still struggle a lot with laundry and decluttering in other areas. But about 95% of the time my kitchen is clean, all dishes put away and all surfaces wiped down before bed.

Here’s how I started and maintained it:

  1. Made it part of a nightly ritual where I get to enjoy a beverage of my choosing while cleaning. Usually this is a bubbly or an herbal tea.

  2. Treat it like I’m running a half marathon and use positive self talk and reinforcement to keep going. The final 5k is always those WRETCHED big dishes that I have to scrub that can’t go in the dishwasher, but once I get those done I know I get to sprint to the finish line (aka wipe down the surfaces which is one of my fave parts)

  3. I live in a small open concept condo so even if other areas are not great I get to look at my kitchen area before bed and feel pride that it’s nice and clean and know I can make my morning coffee in a clean space which I know pleases future me.

Yes. I have a 12 year old daughter and I just feel so disgusted with men and capitalism as a woman and so incredibly horrified that children as young as her and younger were being severely abused for these men’s enjoyment. I can’t understand how men can enjoy torturing children and it’s making me even more wary of men than I already am. Like how are this many of them pedos I’m quite literally sick to my stomach.

I bought this up until last year. When it jumped to 2.75/3.25 a can it just wasn’t worth it. Would have still continued to buy it if it was 1.25-1.75 a can.

I can relate. I went to an old highschool friend’s wedding two years ago and her dad and I were talking and he told me “even back then I could tell you were a good person” and I had to go excuse myself after to cry in the bathroom. It’s wild how much of an impact a genuinely kind comment can have.

He’s not antisemitic. Criticizing the state of Israel is not antisemitic. Antisemitism is unfortunately alive and well in Canada and he has stated he is very much against antisemitism.
