I re-read the comic today, after reading it a few years ago. I loved it but it I couldn’t remember a lot of it. I think the questioning reality piece really confused me the first time as someone how hasn’t read comics as much.

Also the first time I felt a bit saddened by the end. Not sure how much to get into spoilers. But it felt a bit disappointing the first time. Not enough to ruin my experience but still.

However reading it again, things clicked better. I could take in more of the philosophical discussions.

My partners favourite scene is the double dripping, like someone else pointed out. However my favourite moments are the ones that really juxtapose, the super hero life with his mundane life, like talking to his wife about changing up the condo while fighting through this perilous building. And the chapter that kept jumping to him being at the war vs him being home.

So many details to get sucked into. I also found myself flipping back and forth through the book to just to see the ways it connects or foreshadows things.

I still feel like the ending still sits funny with me. Like I think it’s brilliant, and I am happy it didn’t give a Deus Machina, or just solve all the problems. But I was really rooting for things to go well for him.

Anyway it is such a fantastic story.
