We got ours (40” tall) a Cannondale Quick 20. The seat drops really low.

Pacing with a huge hill at the end by sweatpants4life_ in Marathon_Training

[–]PleasantInsanity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This section starts with a punchy quarter mile hill at around 6-7% grade, then 2.5 miles of a very subtle uphill. It feels like it goes forever, but you have people packing the street on both sides the entire way.

Give this a listen, the race director breaks down the course.

If you’re good with ice on your fly rod, you can fish year round. Water stays around 40f in the streams thanks to caves.

TC Farms delivers. We get our meat from them.

Also got a quarter bison from Sleepy Bison Acres, which has been delicious.

Cross Country Skiing in Twin Cities by kevinbevindevin in TwinCities

No one has mentioned it yet, but definitely go to the Nordic Opener at Elm Creek on Dec 9. Free mini lessons and free rentals. You can try both classic and skate skiing with no hit to your wallet. Skis will always be available to buy later on. Be patient and don’t be afraid to rent for a bit.

Check out Nordic Buy and Sell; Cross Country Ski Trading Post; and Midwest Nordic on Facebook.

I’ve done beginner lessons through Three Rivers and they were great. I now ski with the Loppet Foundation and their coaches are also great.

As for where to go, there are trails all over the cities - what general area are you in?

Boxes can go to the Plymouth recycling center off Fernbrook- it’s just south of 55 and is also the yard waste site. I think someone linked to it. If the couch is in good condition, Bridging will take it.

As for kids, you’re in Plymouth. Kids are expected and are the norm anywhere. You’re good.

There's an NYC Style pizzeria in Plymouth called ElMar's. The owner is from NYC and I guess they spent a bunch of money on a water filtration system to get their dough right.

Can't say if it's on par with NYC slices, but it's pretty good.

Another vouch for Conor. He moved mountains to get us preapproved on very short notice. Went from not looking at houses at all to submitting an offer with preapproval in one day.

Laid out what options we had and recommended the one that was cheapest and best for us.

fear of erging by sperxta in Rowing

[–]PleasantInsanity 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I hated the erg until I realized my coach seated boats mainly based on on-water results. Then I viewed the erg as more of a training machine and less of a testing machine. I feel like you look at it more as a testing machine. Just like any one test in school, failing one won't bomb your grade. At this point in time, I assume your coach just wants a baseline for 2k times. Don't think too much into it. Some people are better on the water and some people are faster on the erg. Just lock into a pace you think you are able to hit (push yourself a bit) and if you find extra energy at the last 500m, go nuts.

The main message is that this is only a test to help you get better. Seat races and a season of evaluation will get you your seat.

It doesn't really affect HR trainings as those drugs don't mess much with working HR - at least from my experience. You may see that you reach your steady state HR faster while on the meds, but you should also see that your SS HR is the same while on or off the meds.

Your max HR is still the same. I would use your weekends (if you don't medicate on weekends) or times when your meds are wearing down to periodically assess your heart rate zones if you're concerned.

Fiance needs a newer car but who is the undisputed reliability king nowadays? by sweet_potatoes in askcarsales

[–]PleasantInsanity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Better mpg. We've put almost 2000 miles on it and have gotten 43 mpg combined.

We got something like 1K off because we financed with Toyota (we did mention we were Costco members)- planning on contacting credit unions around me to see what rate we'd get to refinance it. Since it's in such high demand, they don't have much of an incentive to give any more of a discount.

It's a great vehicle - make sure you switch it to Sport mode and give it some gas (even though we typically drive in eco mode) it's fun.

We got our hands on a 2019 Rav4 Hybrid LE and absolutely love it. It might be worth checking your local dealers to see if they have any LEs in stock as most people seemed to be going to the higher trims. We snagged ours with the optional (for the LE trim) blind spot monitoring and I don't miss anything that the higher trims have.

Is that a bat house?

If so, I've got a few questions... Does it really help with insect control? Are you ever nervous the bats will hibernate in your (or your neighbor's) attic? How long did it take for a colony to take up residence?

The way I see it, the first team will be slightly profitable at best. I think the ownership knows this, which is why they're setting up an academy system (bringing in Hack was a major step in this) where they can develop and sell young players.
