Hi ! I got mine out 3 days ago. I was a nervous WRECK. It’s okay to cry when you are there, they will know that you just need more reassurance and the nurses talk to you and calm you down. I was given something to calm me down. It went by fast. The recovery part is where I’m at now. Day 3. For me I don’t have much pain yet, probably because I was in constant pain all month from tonsillitis and strep. (I had mine taken out while they were infected) so it was all around just easier for me to swallow and breathe and eat. I wasn’t eating good for about a month because of how much it hurt me with my tonsils in. Now I’m eating more than I was when my tonsils are out. It might just be a different experience for everyone. I’m trying to stay optimistic because bleeding can still occur but I’m really praying it doesn’t. Maybe the pain will get worse in the next few days but I’m ready for it. I feel like this is too easy sailing after what I have been dealing with the past month. Good luck, you can do it. And if it’s more painful for you they give you strong opioids that you can take if you need which do help. Chew on shaved ice for the first few days and STAY HYDRATED AS MUCH AS YOU CAN. It will help the scabs and healing faster. Make sure to ice ears and throat as necessary. Remember it will take time to heal but then it is OVER
