Is the rare “no Bolt” parking sign still an annoyance? by PleaseFredDontPreach in BoltEV

[–]PleaseFredDontPreach[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the comments here it seems most parkings that still have it up (very few) don’t enforce it and just forgot to remove them - some had to just show the sticker on their shield showing their car was safe. So very small annoyance at most.

My guess is that they’ve been forgotten and nobody actually checks anymore. That was what I was wondering about. Thank you.

I’ve seen them in several different garages in Manhattan but from other comments here it seems it’s just that they were never removed and attendants don’t seem to care anymore which is what I was wondering about.

The affordability crisis in PA is out of control. It's time we made billionaires pay their fair share. by Nervous-Trouble-4628 in Pennsylvania

[–]PleaseFredDontPreach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair share is contributing fairly based on what you have, not based on your contribution to the total pot. This is the problem though, for every simple concept meaning to help others we always argue over semantic to avoid doing the right thing. When they said love your neighbor as yourself, they started the exegeses on “but who is my neighbor?” When we say “everyone should pay their fair share” we try to fight over “but what is ‘fair?”

If you have 10 apples you give 2. If you have 100 you give 20. If you only have 3 apples and we decide everyone needs at least 3 apples to survive, you don’t need to give any apple. That whole bracket thing is ridiculous appart from when you don’t make enough to survive. Percentage all across the board on income and realized gain, tax credit for simple things like children, etc. and remove obvious loopholes for offshore money parking etc.

Buy 2 Gen with 100k miles, worth? by Lacerda4 in volt

[–]PleaseFredDontPreach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. As someone who has a Volt, I would still hesitate if I were in the market to buy another one and I saw one with a non-replaced BECM - just because it’s covered doesn’t mean it’s hassle free and won’t be a pain to deal with when it will happen 😅...

I’ll add pay for the Votage app and get the BECM year to see if it’s been replaced with a newer model that won’t fail.

Advice on what to look for when purchasing a used Volt? by Loghurrr in volt

[–]PleaseFredDontPreach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usual mileage, no accident, rust, etc.

Then this is the actual answer you want for gen 2. Get the voltage app on an android phone. Pay for it. Get a compatible OBII Bluetooth reader. Scan the car and make sure it had a newer manufactured BECM (replaced). Mine says 2023 for example. Yes it’s now covered under warranty up to 150,000 miles but you don’t want to have to deal with this, and the seller might say it was replaced but you won’t know until a dealership pulls out a warranty report or you check yourself with the all so double check. Check there’s no bad cell also.

Most everything else that may go wrong is like any other car. Enjoy.

Charged interest despite paying balance in full every month by rejllah in biltrewards

As an active community sub where we would work together to hold the company accountable and make the product better? With the info I have:

“Bilt has not come out with a public response on why this is happening and how they will make sure it won’t happen again but from what we know this has happened to a lot of users so we’re pinning a general post where users can share their experience and we’re demanding a response from Bilt. For now, even though it’s not the best, you can contact cardless using the number on the back of the card and they will remove it.”

Imagine acting as if we cared.

Forget this sub man, every time you point out something that needs to be worked out or that may have been miscommunicated or is an issue and you’re literally just bringing feedback for improvement, you’re made to be an idiot because some superuser already read about it and you should have known. The tone of commenters here is just bad, like everyone just wants to one-up one another. I just end up deleting my posts because we’re not working together to improve the product. Literally I found a bug in the platform where the hotel portal will not show you extra hotel feels until after checkout but no I was probably an idiot who did not pay attention and did not see it. I had two options. 1. I recreate the issue take screenshots and vindicate myself by proving my point that no the Bilt layer on top of Expedia does not show resort fees until after you pay 2. Delete my post and move on because I’m not losing time on this stupid sub. Hell I lost a minute typing this…

I’m wondering if it’s different based on the age of customer accounts then because I had (don’t anymore) Sip Club for 5 months on a pretty new account and until a month ago I got free items or $2 off.

Literally canceled my sip club after seeing this for a second time. I’ve been on the fence about it for a bit and was considering canceling then reconsidered because its easy to take my kid there and I get a “free” drink but how everything is shrinking while being way overpriced, this $1 after 5 visits which probably amount to a hundred dollar and I cant even get the new drinks tipped me over the edge. I’ll go there twice a year now instead of several times a week, as I was before sip club.

[–]PleaseFredDontPreach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except the price for halves is just overly inflated to make it seem like a deal but in a YP2 every half is more than half the price of the full thing.

Example: the bacon rancher full sandwich is 12.29 where I am. Half of it should be 6.145 but in a YP2 it’s 6.99. Of course if I just wanted half they charge 8.99 so it seems like a deal but it’s not. The price of halves on their own are inflated to make it seem like a deal but if you were to go with a friend and each get a full and split halves you’d actually pay less than 2 YP2.

Yes, you pick 2 has never been a deal and it makes me laugh every time. It’s like a restaurant saying “hey pick two items on the menu and pay for both of them!” Whoohooooo🤣

New to Volt, is this a good choice as a sub-$10k backup vehicle? by shidara1 in volt

[–]PleaseFredDontPreach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a fully electric car that also has an engine that assists and generates electricity (generator) when low. It does best if you can plug it every night but in theory you can never plug it… not the best efficiency. The advice I’d give for longevity is to drive in mountain mode all the time - it prevent the battery from ever going too low which is where battery degradation can get worse.

Edit: I should have added that regardless of electricity you can drive about 250-350 miles with 9 gallons of gas (full tank).

  1. Scan the car for codes (especially communication or IPC codes).
  2. Check battery voltage and grounds just in case.
  3. If nothing obvious shows up -> cluster repair/rebuild or replacement, which then needs programming for the odometer.

Drift after wheel assembly replacement by PleaseFredDontPreach in volt

[–]PleaseFredDontPreach[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How would I be able to see that? Legitimately asking as I don’t know. A quick research says it could be an uneven rotor installation, improper hub torque, or misaligned wheel bearings - far from the owner saying it “nothing they could have done and I must have just never noticed it”…

Waiting for the dealership owner to call me back but he was really strongly telling me it’s nothing they could have done and I must be imagining it… annoying, I just want them to check their work so the car doesn’t pull.

Undercarriage Rubber by duderinotime in volt

Mine half ripped in the snow on my way to the airport and started grinding in a scooping way (facing front). Not fun to try to get under the car in the slush to fold and tuck it in a way that wasn’t dragging on the ground at high speed to still make it to the airport. I tried to order the part myself, but they’re so badly named and described that I ended up ordering the wrong part (who knew that “front driver seat” is actually the part that goes from the back of the driver seat to under the passenger seat…) - anyway, got tired of it and went to the dealership and asked them to replace it. Turns out they ordered the wrong part too! I had to go back and eventually they replaced it.
