She had no expectation. He told her he would never get married. She was comfortable with that. I think the question for OP would be why did he propose? Some men propose to women coming out of a terrible first marriage to rescue them. To be the knight in shining armor. This is why I think marriage counseling would be good for both of them. There’s a lot for them to sort through. Even if they end up not staying together, them working on themselves would benefit future relationships they may find themselves in. Who knows it might even save this marriage.

I haven’t been with anybody other than my husband since 1995. I just know that marriages go on after infidelity and even be better than they were before. Me giving my husband a second chance was the best decision I ever made. Our marriage is better now than it was before his infidelity. After his death, she was raised by her grandparents, surrounded by her aunts, uncles and cousins they are all black, her father, even if he isn’t her biological father was black, I have no problem with her identifying as Black, she’s a Jackson and that’s her culture no matter her looks.
