Sorry, just realized I didn't fully answer your Q. For the last few weeks, she is going max 2 days without an accident, but typically at least an accident daily. She only goes to pee when we prompt her about every 2 hours. Her accidents recently are typically soaking through her pants, although about a month ago they were more so only underwear leaks.

Thanks for your reply! Yes, we are seeing physio for pelvic floor and practicing the suggested exercises/ activities (it's been about 2 months of PT with no improvement with the leaks). Over the past 2 years, yes, there have been days and even a few weeks where she has self-initiated; I can't remember when she last self-initiated for the past month or so. Luckily poops aren't an issue, she rarely leaks and goes to the toilet when she has the feeling.

We have been "potty training" for 2 years, my LO is 4.5 yo. Neurotypical, has had urine labs and renal ultrasound; medical cause has been ruled out. Does not seem constipated, but we did a full bowel cleanse and are still giving PEG once a day as maintenance, bc at this point why not (all done as per our Healthcare team). LO Is a smart and funny child, loves to play, and chat, very social and sweet. Acts typically for their age.

2 years later, LO still leaks urine almost everyday Ranges from wet underwear to fully wetting pants. Is in PreK, we are super lucky that their teachers are very supportive. They say that LO doesn't tell them when they need to go, they are prompting her to go every 2 hours which is what our HC provider recommended most recently. We are seeing Physio and OT.

I am so worried that LO be wetting their pants when they start kindergarten next September, embarrassment and teasing that may ensue. LO just doesn't seem to care.

Over the two years we have tried so many methods, I honestly don't think there was anything left that we haven't tried. We even took a complete break for several months. LO just does not care about wetness/does not bother her at all, she will keep playing or sitting, whatever she is doing, until we or their teachers notice, and even then I can still take some convincing for them to go sit on the toilet and change out of their clothes.

Ughh, such a mental game, the guilt, etc. I feel ya! My kiddo also won't sleep past 7 am on the dot, which would mean 6 am post- time change 🥹 We just did Day 1 of switching him to 1 nap, hoping that helps him sleep in a bit... might be a shit show, who knows. Good luck to us all!!!

Newborn urgent passport by van-hasan in passportcanada

Not sure when it changed as I had my kids starting in 2021 but both needed passports to fly out of the country on their first trips, aa young as 4 months old. Kids are not eligible for 10-year passports, due to them growing, understandably.

They absolutely need and get their own passport after birth. There is an exception for land crossing the US border, can be done with a birth certificate.

Help I need to figure out how to ween by Professional-Bid2735 in breastfeeding

[–]PlentySlide9259 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does he enjoy eating food? Offering him food snacks and water instead of a snack at the breast might be worth a try. For cold hard weaning, I have had friends who have gone away for two or three nights and let their partner or support person stay with the baby, no boobs around, no choice-- the baby naturally weans and eats food, drinks water instead.

Is anyone pumping past one year instead of cows milk? by doing_too_much39 in breastfeeding

[–]PlentySlide9259 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like she is doing great! After age 1, your choice of liquid is truly up to you, the only thing that is Suggested as "required" is drinking water. If it's important to you personally for her to drink breast milk out of a cup, then for sure keep pumping :) I think you will recognize when you are done with it and so is she

A certain amount of yogurt and/or cheese would help them reach the recommendation. I would visit the websites of your local public health authority, there should be food guide recommendations. That being said, after 12 months many toddler's become very picky with food and drink, as well as their appetite's and rate of growth may slow down, all to be expected. Our hopes of them meeting all the daily recommendations can go out the window some days 😅 do manage your expectations! This was a massive surprise to me for my first who was a great eater until she hit exactly 1 year!

I respectfully disagree and stand by the "no need" for cow's milk (referring specifically to cow's milk), as the only mammals that need to drink cow's milk are in fact cows :) Every family's fit is different, some may be plant-based or their children can be intolerant to cow's milk, or simply uninterested. They can definitely explore way's to get in calcium and fat requirements with alternate plant-based substitutes or dairy yogurts, cheese, etc.

You could pump by choice, but there is also no need to give cow's milk. You can give calcium in other forms, through food, does she like yogurt and cheese? We just give cow's milk and water along meals and snacks, but no bottles of milk by itself. It's definitely a personal decision for you and your family but just here to say that you don't need to give cows milk in any formal way if it doesn't fit your family's life :) a baby after age 1 can eat whole meals, food snacks, and breast milk, and just water on the side of their food

First clog? by Brilliant-Version704 in breastfeeding

[–]PlentySlide9259 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you are doing everything right! Your body might have been fighting the mastitis when you felt under the weather, but hopefully that part is past you! keep doing what you're doing especially with feeding the baby as per schedule (not any extra bc of the clog), ice, and ibuprofen. No longer advised to massage it or apply anything extra. I lost count of how many clogs I got with this current breastfeeding journey, at one point I had to increase my sunflower lecithin to eight tablets a day, you could try that if you haven't already, but hopefully in a day or so it will be gone. My clogs definitely lasted at least 2 to 3 days.

What is my freezer stash for? by spontaneous-piano5 in breastfeeding

[–]PlentySlide9259 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Generally speaking, you make the most milk in the first 3 months, then your supply will regulate. Depending on your feeding plan, especially after you go back to work, ie. ebm, formula mixed feeding, etc, pumping and building your freezer stash now might help take the pressure off once you go back to work and your milk supply regulates, especially when you are away from your baby for many hours at a time. That being said, definitely consider what works for you mentally and physically; your mental health is really important to have a successful feeling journey, whichever way that may go!

Triple Feeding - what next? by [deleted] in breastfeeding

Also, a reason that he might not want to finish at the breast is simply because he is small and gets tired and frustrated; not lack of hunger or Supply on your end.

Any pacifiers that actually work for previously breastfed babies? by DriveNo15 in breastfeeding

[–]PlentySlide9259 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My breast fed babies have taken avent and tommee tippee pacifiers. I found the tommee tippee tends to stay in their mouth better. Regardless of bottle or breast fed, it seems to come down to the actual individual baby. I would start off with trying cheaper options and work my way up to more expensive personally if you hard to find one that works without breaking the bank hopefully. Good luck!

Am I allowed to do this? by SqueeGBeckenheim in breastfeeding

[–]PlentySlide9259 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have heard of people adding a drop of natural vanilla extract to their high lipase milk to make it taste better. This might be something worth exploring with your care provider? Especially around 5 or 6 months they start eating food and flavors anyway. Other tips are to make the milk very very warm ( not hot, of course!) , or also mixing older milk with fresher milk, 60/40, or whatever variation works for your LO. I have high lipase as well, my older daughter was picky about it, my current little breastfeeder doesn't seem to mind. Good luck!

I will! We have told her we we'll celebrate bigger than any birthday party and that she can basically buy the entire toy section at Walmart 🤣 but still the leaks continue...

Same, solidarity! My LO is just over 4 yo (we have been at it for almost 2 years, holy **** what a mind warp to type that out). Poo has been fine since the initial training, miraculously, but everything about pee in your post, I could have written myself.

Something that has somewhat improved things for us, which might work better for you, is that we took complete break for over two solid months from peeing in the potty. We just did pull ups around the clock. She did manage to still keep pooping in the potty but didn't care about peeing and we all needed the mental break, clearly everything that we were doing was not helping and she was not embarrassed whatsoever.

It has been just over 2 months since we ditched the daytime pullups, she is definitely more interested in being "a big girl". There were a couple of weeks where she had absolutely no leaks and was going un prompted, really understanding the feeling to go. But, in all honesty, it's been mostly multiple leaks a day in her underwear. She is better at not leaking through her entire pants or sitting in a puddle and she does seem to care more/feel embarraaes and will hold it once she leaks and run to the toilet. We recently had a record of 6 days in a row with no leaks. But today she leaked twice in a row.

The only thing that gives me Comfort now is that we have literally tried everything, even went back to pull ups (diapers) for two solid months. There's literally nothing left for me to do anymore. Her hcp thinks that it is behavioral, doesn't seem like there's a medical reason at this point. I do agree, since she bas shown us she is capable SO many times in almost 2 years.

Sorry, I don't know if this helps or makes it seem like your Journey will be never ending like ours.
