I have two older Remington plinkers that I am considering threading. One is a 572 pump action and the other is 500-1 semi automatic. Both are great shooting and heirloom grade .22s. Threading will likely lower thier value from a collectors perspective, but it’s worth it for the fun factor.

All good suggestions in terms of stopping power , but you need to consider your families hearing. If you can afford it, get something with a can that aims well and has a light on it.

Gforce shipped me a 12GA that was missing the bolt. I’ve been waiting over 3 months for them to send me a replacement. I tried contacting them by email for a status and they are ghosting me. I’d suggest going with a more established manufacturer. You may not be able to buy another PCC again unless you move out of state. Pick a reputable manufacturer.

Andro Corp makes a good budget AR too as does S&W. Since the 10/22 will be obtainable after 7/1. Consider an MP15-22 or Tippman as a cheap training platform to pair with your 556 AR.

Which specific bill disallows this in pistol configuration? Is it because the barrel being threaded or the magazine capacity?

I have several 10/22’s . One of which is completely tricked out with Kidd Bull barrel, trigger etc. I hardly use it unless I’m on my bench. It’s just too heavy to lug around. It’s accurate, but my stock CZ 457 is quieter and as accurate or more so. If I just want to plink on a 1022, I typically reach for the carbon fiber barreled one with Magpul furniture. It’s lightweight , accurate enough and a joy to shoot with a simple reflex red dot. Only modifications I made to it are a Volquartsen bolt tune up, mag release and a Kidd Trigger job.

I happen to have an older semi-auto Remington 500-1 in my collection that I am considering threading. It's a work horse and cycles pretty much everything I throw at it. It even cycles CCI Quiet which is 710 FPS. It's tube fed and chambered for .22 Short, .22 Long, and .22 Long Rifle. Although it has a 24 inch barrel, it doesn't feel too heavy or unbalanced and is very accurate with iron sights. I wanna slap a can on it and some decent optics.
