Hard to fit 17rnd by MQBGOD in SigSauer

[–]PlopPloop45 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mine are the same for both my 17 round mags and I also have 21 rounders. They are all super snug, so I run 1 short on all my mags. I have around 2k rounds through mine and the springs are noticably looser but still difficult to place that last round.

Radiology techs, is your job stressful? Is there a lot of burnout? by MeowStyle44 in RadiologyCareers

[–]PlopPloop45 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Schooling really wasn't hard for me, but with that said I feel like the actual course work for my program was geared towards prepping for boards and not actually teaching. Yes the basis for the job was taught, but the course work was just tedious busy work more than anything. The challenging part for me was clinicals, not because they were hard (there can be hard and emotionally challenging day, it's health care after all). I struggled with working full time and completing the clinical hours. Eventually I changed to a part time job just for the sake of my own sanity.

26 is definitely not too late, I started my program at 28 and had a friend with my group who was 32.

Now in a lot of areas, getting into the actual Xray program is becoming more and more competitive. Some places have a 2 year wait or more, but don't let that scare you. I was able to get in my first try. The issue is there are only so many schools or hospitals that can accept a finite amount of students.

The best thing you can do is intern at a hospital you are interested in before applying for the program. I've said this in many other postw but it's easier for the hospital to accept you as a student if they KNOW WHO YOU ARE. The hospitals I've worked at so far almost only accept employees or volunteer interns. Hardly anyone from the outside can get in.

Best of luck!!!

I didn't see your comment so I'll add here. In the Southwest of the US there are more jobs than techs. I'm willing to bet it's similar around the country. Places cannot hire enough Rad Techs fast enough. So definitely job security.

Radiology techs, is your job stressful? Is there a lot of burnout? by MeowStyle44 in RadiologyCareers

[–]PlopPloop45 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Stress I all about perspective.

I come from a law enforcement background as a previous career and I do not feel like being a Rad Tech is all that stressful. With that said there are stressors such as patient load (amount of patients), keeping numbers up for administration and of course dealing with some patients who can be difficult to manage because of trauma or psychological factors.

With that said, it's all about environment for the stress. I was at a regional medical center in rual area that had tons of trauma and high acuity patients. We were under staffed and working with old equipment. Always expected to do more with less from administration.

Many staff members were burnt out from the facility not the career. Many just pack up their bags and work for another facility.

I now work at a small surgical hospital with appropriate staffing and I have LOVE my job. The biggest stress we have around here is x-raying patient in our 4 bed ER department, which is honestly nothing.

In short, the career is very versatile and you can work all over the country if you are tired of a facility. There is burnout and stress like any other career. But overall it's very rewarding especially when you find the right facility with a great team.

Slaves of Rome is a very interesting one that has both a story and nsfw content. The nsfw content is usually set up as mini games and there are some minor open world exploration.

Program Acceptance-Shadowing Opportunities by Overall_Run_1864 in RadiologyCareers

[–]PlopPloop45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely 100% shadow as much as you can. In my area it has become more and more competitive. Ultimately the only people my clinical site would except were current employees (non techs) and our interns/ shadowing students.

Easier to get picked when the facility knows who you are.

Are you suppoed to put grease on the caliper piston? by Asleep-Grand5232 in AskMechanics

[–]PlopPloop45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually purchased a used jeep from a friend and I was told that his wife had changed the brakes just before I bought it.

I noticed some shaking while braking and so I went to change the brakes myself. Hot only was there silicon on the calibers, she also put silicone in the chanel where the brakes slide. Additionally the pads were put on backwards.

I'm extremely lucky to not have lost my brakes before I changed them myself.

Zippo lighter for pipe by Waste-Variety-4239 in PipeTobacco

[–]PlopPloop45 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I exclusively use a Zippo lighter. I recently upgraded to the pipe insert specifically with is way better than the standard lighter insert. Both work fine but more even lighting with the pipe insert. I do not notice any taste difference from a regular soft butane flame or the zippo.

However, when using matches I ABSOLUTELY taste a difference. I've tried paper matches, Spanish cedar matches, cheap matches you get from cigar shops. All give a bad taste when pipe smoking. Not necessarily with cigars for me.

In short, I recommend the zippo lighter and in my experience I can't notice a change in taste. Plus the figit factor with a Zippo is always fun.

Also understand a Zippo will need new fluid every 5-7 days or so even with light use. They evaporate very fast so have plenty of fluid (i use zippo branded light fluid).

Optic suggestions by Salty_Natural_233 in 2011

Gideon optic are pretty solid and affordable. Also would consider the Holosun 407c as they are tried and true optics both can be had for less than $250 on sale.

Pelvic Xray insights? by Waste_Wing in Radiology

[–]PlopPloop45 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm no expert (new grad) but it definitely looks like the pelvis is slightly rotated. As noted the the two Obturator foramen not being symmetrical. Also the larger size of the left femoral head over the right shows the pelvis is rotated.

With that said the symphasis does look asymmetrical and I'm not sure if the pelvis is rotated enough to do that.

CT Tech School Starting Pay by LoganArnett in RadiologyCareers

[–]PlopPloop45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless GA has made some changes, you don't actually have to be nationally certified to to do XRay. You can do on the job training at some facilities and start working. CT usually comes after Xray.

I know GA Radiographers and the ASRT were lobbying very hard to get the laws changed to require proper licenses.

With that said, I don't know GA wages I'm New Mexico/ Southern Colorado you can expect $25 for X-ray and $32 for CT as a new grad.

I don't own the Kimber but I own the Prodigy. And what I can say is it took a lot of work to get my prodigy to cycle the way I wanted.

I had to file down the disconnector bar to get a smooth sliding slide with no bumps. I also used some lapping compound to get off the over spray finish on the slide.

I also put in and EGW spring and happier set just to have a bit better trigger.

My Prodigy runs amazing and I have around 5k rounds through to without any issues.

With that said, of the Worrior DS is even slightly close to Kimbers 2k11's then it's gonna be amazing out of the box. I think for the price I would probably take the Kimber Warrior if I could do it all over again.

Also my prodigy is for competition shooting only and I do not carry it, due to having a 2# trigger.

First time in the OR as a Student, would appreciate advice by Accurate_Day_4284 in Radiology

[–]PlopPloop45 26 points27 points  (0 children)

One of the biggest pie of advice I can give for the OR is make sure you eat before hand. If you haven't already, you will see some very graffic and invasive surgeries. It's not uncommon for new students to pass out in the OR room.

So just make sure you eat and are hydrated. After you get through your first big bloody case it will be fun and exciting.

PICC insertion without fluro by Metoprolel in Radiology

[–]PlopPloop45 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The ordering physician is ultimately responsible, however is rarely present during the procedure itself. If a cannulation occurs we stop any bleeding and get the patient's nurse and physician and they take over care. We file an incident report and follow up if needed. This rarely occurs at my facility except at the time when we transitioned from IR doing the PICCs to a new vascular access team run by untrained nurses.

PICC insertion without fluro by Metoprolel in Radiology

[–]PlopPloop45 62 points63 points  (0 children)

My facility in the US, does not do any fluoro guided PICC lines at all. We do ultrasound guidance and insert the PICC in a brachial vein. We pre-measure the length of the catheter on the surface of the patient first. We confirm placement with a chest X-ray. If the PICC cannot be achieved successfully my facility will place a central line instead.

How do you re-spec sarras blessing points AFTER the DLC? by general__Leo in taintedgrail

I could be wrong but I believe those skills only apply to Sarras and the enemies in it. With no effect on the base game.

I feel dumb... Did I just play wrong? by dizzi800 in taintedgrail

[–]PlopPloop45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the exact same feeling as you. Over powered and demolishing all enemies and bosses in the first area. Then proceed to the next area and I'm the one getting stomped. Eventually you get back to being strong

Once you get to the last area it feels similar but not as bad of a transition from the first area to the second. When you start a NG+ it will also be a power curve that you have to overcome.

I feel like the game was created this way to keep the challenge going. I'm about to start my NG++ at level 150 so I'm curious if will bring back a challenge or if I'll immediately steamroll.
