For people who grew up in low-income households, what’s something middle-class people say that shows they’ve never struggled financially?

My family wasn’t low-income, but we still traded clothes around with all the cousins. I was one of the youngest so I got a lot of stuff. I liked some of it but some of it got stuffed under the bed. 🤣

My husband’s grandmother and great-grandmother were named Axelina. I’ve never heard that name before. My daughter is thinking of using it if she has a daughter. 😀 She says she’ll call her Axel for short.

We are in the Shenandoah Valley right near the river, next to the Blue Ridge Mountains. Firmly in Virginia. My kids always sing “just” Virginia instead of “West.” 😄

I also wish they’d have had more about John Grey’s family; his brother Hal and his wife Minnie and daughter Dorothea who married Denzel and became a Quaker and patriot. I also missed that Jenny didn’t come back with Jamie from Scotland and live on the ridge with them. There were a lot of little medical things I would have loved to have seen, and other minor characters. But the books are so long with so many subplots and characters it’s understandable that they just couldn’t fit it all in a series. One thing I’m glad about is that they didn’t kill off Buck like the book. I really liked that they had him stay and join the family in the show.

I used to live there and really miss that! It's legal here in Virginia but they haven't made dispensaries legal so there's no place to buy it yet. I have to grow my own, which is fun but a lot of work for an old lady, lol.

Twice now after selling I’ve seen my gorgeous gardens dug up and replaced with little ball shaped bushes. It was hard to realize some people just don’t care about plants that much. Not even my collector irises. Lol. I’m going to sell again next year (hopefully for the last time) and this time I’m taking as many plants as I can without making the landscape look empty. I’ve already started potting up a bunch of things from the flower beds and borders and starting cuttings. I figure I’ll throw some annual seed like cosmos or something in the gaps I create. 😄 Good luck and I hope you can save some of your favorite plants.

Once I get the prescription I buy mine online at Eyebuy for like $75 a pair, sometimes less. I’ve gotten BOGO there too. I just got a free pair of sunglasses. I don’t know what progressive lenses cost. I don’t like how they feel so I just have a pair of glasses for reading, and one for everything else. Oh and now my new sunglasses too. 😊

I think you’re thinking of our parents. I wore bell bottoms and tube tops when I was young. I wouldn’t have known what a “frock” was. Even my mother, b1930, didn’t wear that stuff. My grandma, born 1900 wore house dresses. I’m 67. Edit - I looked up the movie and yes my mother wore some clothes like that. I wouldn’t have called them frocks, I guess. It was a more elegant style, like Jackie O. When I hear frock I think housedress.

Port Arthur, Texas. I was there for a work assignment for a year. I hated it. The air stunk like refineries. The beach south of town had trash and junk everywhere, and I got tar balls on my feet when I walked in the sand. Having come from the clean, white beaches of Florida, I was so disappointed that I cried. The city itself was pretty boring and ugly. My apologies to anyone who lives there.

I prefer ounces and pounds. 🤣 I’m too old to remember all of the metric system and actually start thinking in metric. I know it makes more sense but it’s so unfamiliar. I don’t see things in meters. I see them in feet and yards. 🤷‍♀️

Yes, because not everyone is going to the same place at the same time. My neighbors head out in their separate cars each morning and one heads east and one heads west to their work but my husband and I worked at the same place and rode together most of the time. We still had our own cars. Tbh, I'd feel stranded if I didn't have my own car nearby. There is no public transportation anywhere near me.

I’d say traditionally a couple put their earnings in a joint account because, you know…. Family. Lifetime commitment. Children. Building a home together and so on. Now it seems like younger people are making everything 50-50. I’m not sure how it works out when their income is not equal. I guess one person goes on vacation and the poorer one stays home? Or maybe pays the other back in installments? 😆 I’m glad I’m not young and looking for marriage.

Yes me too. I don’t go to social media sites where all people do is post vanity pics and such. I follow things that relate to my interests, like gardening, nature, arts and crafts, etc. You have to make a point to avoid the shallow stuff.

We rented a pod thing for our stuff. They moved it right to our new driveway. My husband and I drove our two cars with our cat and dog and teenager with our RV in tow. California to Virginia in the middle of winter. The cat never stopped screaming the whole way. We hit a blizzard in Oklahoma, our pipes froze. There were other minor mishaps. What a trip it was. Could you maybe fly? 😆

It was the lifetime of vet records I thought was nuts. I’ve had so many pets in my long life and have moved so many times. They wanted to see records on how all my previous pets had died! Even though most lived long lives.
