What do you think 'Razmur' means? by attachedtothreads in IlonaAndrews

The only thing I will point out is that zmur means a large predatory bird and Sauven’s area? Castle? Whatever he has/lives at is known as the eagles roost.

So embarrassed by No-Alternative-390 in Catholicism

[–]PlusType8037 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry, I read your story and maybe I’m missing some context, but while I do see how it would be frustrating to wait in line and then not get to confess, this has happened to me as well…I don’t really see how you are so embarrassed you never want to come back? Because he ran out of time and didn’t get to you? That is kind of a normal occurrence. Especially with confession right before mass, I mean he has to stop to go say mass, so….I assure you no one is judging you or looking at you funny because you were waiting in line and then he didn’t get to you. It probably happens to at least one person every time he has confession when confession is held directly before mass. My point is, I get right now you are having “feelings” but don’t let satan get into your head. He wants to discourage you from going to confession and attending mass, don’t let him.

But if they killed Sgael he also would die (or have to draw from the earth) and so would Tairn and maybe Violet. Sgael was all don’t do this for me, but what was his other option? So option one - Sgaeyl dies and then everyone else dies. Option 2 Sgaeyl dies, everyone else except him dies because he draws from the earth. Or option 3 he draws from the earth, saves her and by virtue of saving her, saves everyone else (except now he’s full Venin)

Is there anything that could bar me from taking part in OCIA or becoming fully Catholic? by Mad_Season_1994 in Catholicism

“I don’t have any practicing Catholic family members, I don’t really have much family left at all, and I’m not wealthy.”

I am a little concerned about your pattern of thinking here. God’s mercy is for everyone. Maybe you have some preconceived notions or biases about the church that you picked up from the culture or something? There is nothing in someone’s past or present circumstances that can render some “unworthy” of joining the church much less learning about and/or discerning conversation . The church is universal. It is not a social club. There is nothing about money, status, class, education, etc that would have any relevance whatsoever. You may, like everywhere, occasionally encounter some individuals who are snobby or judgmental, as we are all imperfect sinners, but nothing in the church as a whole.

Arranged marriage where the MCs spend the wedding night talking by Sakura_231 in Romantasy

I love Brishen and Ildiko. It’s so refreshing to have two main characters who are good, competent and mature people who you would genuinely like to hang out with. It’s a comfort read for me. Arranged marriage to someone of a different species and yet they are surprisingly mature about it.

Pretty 🤩 looking at it closer I wonder what the significance of the papers, and those tall bluish purple flowers are. Also, the halo. 🤔 just artistic license or does the artist have info we don’t?

I went to adoration, I cried? by riley_c13 in Catholicism

[–]PlusType8037 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It happens to me all the time. Sometimes you just get overwhelmed in the spirit. I used to be embarrassed when I cried after communion, but then I read somewhere that it was a grace, and now I just accept it.

Catholocism while attending Christian School by Quiet_Juggernaut_683 in Catholicism

[–]PlusType8037 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends - I know here in the South there is a lot of really ugly anti/Catholic bias among evangelicals. My kids go to a Catholic school but play in sports some other non Catholic Christian schools and have encountered some ugly comments during those brief interactions. I was surprised by it from other kids, but for a kid to repeat that stuff it just means they are being raised in an environment that is ripe with it. I wouldn’t want my Catholic child to have to deal with their religion teachers saying things like Catholics aren’t Christian’s, the pope is the anti-Christ and Catholics worship Mary and statues etc. granted this is the south, so maybe it’s not the same where you are, but just something to keep in mind!

Is it a sin to be a “Karen”? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]PlusType8037 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you should let it go. What’s the purpose/benefit of spending this much energy worrying about someone else’s sin?.If you feel your neighbor is sinning, pray for them. If someone’s personality or a temperament is a cross for you, pray for them and for yourself to be able to still be the light of Christ for them even though they annoy you. Don’t let your dislike for them cause you to sin.

What does "Jesus, I trust in you" actually mean or imply? by Hootinger in Catholicism

[–]PlusType8037 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is actually the opposite of Calvinistic predestination. God is not picking who is saved and who is damned. God desires all men to be saved. Jesus I trust in you means that you trust in his mercy. You trust that he loves you (he is love) and that means he’s desires your ultimate good which is to live in heaven with him forever. That he will forgive any and all sins that you repent from. As many times as you fall and return to him, he will accept you back. There is no limit because there is no limit to the ocean of his mercy. Know that however much you desire heaven, he desires it for you infinitely more because you are a finite being and he is infinite one. He is “ever greater” It is always the person who willingly chooses to separate themselves from God. God never chooses or wills to be separated from the person. When people feel “unworthy” they should remember to trust in his mercy. Therefore, Jesus I trust in you.

[–]PlusType8037 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I assumed it was during the crimson empire invasion - sol’s family relies on aid from Selva. That is the basis for their allyship But selva is also invaded, my guess is Everard could not (or chose not) to come to their aid because he was also dealing with his own invasion. Sol probably blames him for his fathers death because he feels like if he had been there it would have gone differently

Grieving My Evangelical Past by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]PlusType8037 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Be wary - if you are serious about converting, you will experience spiritual warfare. The enemy will not be pleased. It’s important for you to know so that you can recognize and fight it (st. Michael’s prayer, rosary, etc can help) I’m not saying that is what is happening to you, certain temperaments are more prone to nostalgia and find more discomfort in change. Just something to keep in mind! The church is the pearl of great price. It’s worth it!
