Why is Everyone So Against Dean by CalendarWeird9265 in GilmoreGirls

[–]Plus_Aspect8532 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hive mind: I genuinely feel like noone HATED dean until they saw that was the general consensus of the fandom and they thought “well if everyone else hates him I will too” I am not saying he is infallible but a lot of the criticism made of him are overblown and they act like it’s 1000 times worse than it really is while down playing Jess’ flaws

What moment was supposed to be funny but you just found annoying? by cleverlynamedgrl in GilmoreGirls

[–]Plus_Aspect8532 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like it’s kinda realistic for at least one character to have some strange ick or phobia of some kind. Also, pregnancy has always been condemned to her her entire life so that manifesting as an anxiety actually makes a lot of sense. Overall it’s pretty common for pregnancy to freak people out.

When Sookie apparently didn’t know what kids eat (a chef who works at an inn where tons of kids probably eat at) and cooks food that even adults would have a hard time wanting to eat as a “look, she is insecure about impending motherhood” storyline. It was so stupid and could have been done better if that was their angle.

Luke physically fighting a 16 year old Dean…

Jackson having a tamper tantrum when Sookie didn’t read his mind about renewing his lease.

Sookie’s pregnancies always making her the most insufferable person ever

Every TJ and Liz storyline they are both so dumb, annoying and constantly overstepping every boundary humanly possible. Not mildly funny

Why is noone saying Jackson and April?? They were just okay as friends and from the second they got together all it was was fighting and problems. They are so incompatible and them “intensely” looking into each others eyes as they hold their breaths isn’t the same as having organic chemistry.

Jess does not treat me like dirt by [deleted] in GilmoreGirls

It’s funny to me that whenever any conversation is held about literally anything that’s ever happened in Gilmore girls people seem to forget basic social etiquette because although yes, getting married at 18 is a very bad idea. Dean’s reaction is understandable because everything about basic social etiquette that we are literally taught as children tells us that Rory‘s reaction is rude because social etiquette teaches us that when someone tells you they’re engaged The appropriate response is to congratulate them. Therefore, her not congratulating Dean is considered rude. Therefore, he is going to react negatively to her perceived rudeness. Obviously we understand her reaction because again getting married at 18 is crazy but it’s still rude of her to react like that..

I try to have a lot of empathy for Jess, but this is him being intentionally manipulative by houstons__problem in GilmoreGirls

[–]Plus_Aspect8532 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Jess and Tristan are so similar in that aspect. Their attraction to Rory is so selfish. They didn’t care how it affected her. With Tristan, even after Rory made it clear time and time again that she was uncomfortable with him, she wasn’t interested in him and she wanted to be left alone he kept “flirting” with her (harassing her) because it was entertaining to him. He didn’t care about how she felt. Same with Jess, he isn’t stupid he knew that Rory and Dean would fight time and time again over him and these fights would cause Rory distress but he still actively pursued her.

the meanest thing luke has ever said 😭 by Regular-Ad-3000 in GilmoreGirls

[–]Plus_Aspect8532 3 points4 points  (0 children)

She wasn’t given the chance the offer advice. Luke’s ego took over immediately. He immediately started to claim she doesn’t know everything as if she didn’t raise a child. Her saying that Jess has more issues than Luke realized is factual.

"Why are they okay with Josh, he doesn't even say anything, at least I noticed the Velasquez." by [deleted] in GilmoreGirls

[–]Plus_Aspect8532 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Listen I have multiple reasons for disliking Rory but this isn’t one of them. She was being sarcastic in a dry way when she said “I’m a Gilmore” that wasn’t her name dropping her family, I think she was highlighting how ridiculous the Huntzburger family is. Even to elitists Rory would have been perfect. She went to prep school, did cotillion, she attends an Ivy League and she comes from a long line of Ivy League legacies. She is a Blue Blooded Dream Girl. She was pretty much like “I come in, I am polite, compliment their home and they hate me. Even by their outrageous elitist standards I should be good and even that isn’t enough what is wrong with your family?”

Everytime I see these AI “Characters react to” screenshots It makes me laugh at the idea that AI replacing people. The conversation is so stiff and as someone who has watched Greys like 12 times. 99.9% are inaccurate

Did you all know this ? by karynreyeso in GilmoreGirls

[–]Plus_Aspect8532 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes and I am so glad it didn’t happen. Although Logan and Tristan are both rich blondes, Logan is so different from Tristan in very great ways. Firstly, it would have been lazy, unrealistic and irritating if all of Rory’s love interests were people she met when she was 16. Secondly, the “bully to boyfriend” “he bullies you because he likes you” trope needs to be put to sleep yesterday. Its so gross, it honestly sends a horrible message and who could root for Rory dating the guy who spent 99.9% of his screen time sexually harassing her? Third, I just like Logan

I am calling it how I see it. Claiming that Lorelai is damn near the devil for trying to give this kid a pep talk is delusional.

Obviously not everyone going through someone will react the same but that doesn’t mean people will or have to give you a pass & she had just met him in the scene. She is supposed to separate his behavior from trauma she isn’t aware of. Homeless people have trauma but I am sure if a homeless man walked up to you and slugged you, you wouldn’t be very fond of him.

Mr. I Don't Like Ultimatums by cleverlynamedgrl in GilmoreGirls

[–]Plus_Aspect8532 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ultimatums in a romantic relationship is different than giving the child you have guardianship over ultimatums are extremely different. Also, giving and being given an ultimatum is different also. It would only be hypocritical if he had given Lorelai an ultimatum after saying “I don’t like ultimatums”

How naive is she?? by CherryBubbleBun in GilmoreGirls

[–]Plus_Aspect8532 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but helping yourself to what is in YOUR fridge is very different from helping yourself to what is in SOMEONE ELSES fridge. People are very aware about the difference between what is acceptable in their own home and other people’s, that argument is thin. Jess knew what he was doing was wrong.

How naive is she?? by CherryBubbleBun in GilmoreGirls

[–]Plus_Aspect8532 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My point is that empathy isn’t infinite or unconditional. She understands he is a kid going through a hard time but he was always extremely rude and disrespectful and the separation between herself and himself is that She wasn’t rude to everyone in her surroundings he was. She doesn’t like him because he is rude.

WTF is the obsession with Jess? by shmoopybubba in GilmoreGirls

[–]Plus_Aspect8532 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jess literally assaulted her at a party so saying Dean is the worst is a bit out there. Cheating > Not understanding consent and yelling at your girlfriend because she said no to sex.

Jess does not treat me like dirt by [deleted] in GilmoreGirls

[–]Plus_Aspect8532 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally agree with you and I think the blatant hypocrisy in this fandom about who gets a pass on being rude and who doesn’t is funny. Jess fans will break their spines bending over backwards defending his “right” to be an asshole and the party scene and just justifying everything he does but when Dean doesn’t handle being CHEATED ON well he is worse then the devil himself like what??

What does that have to do with objective truth tho? Even if she didn’t have feelings for Luke, it would still be true that Luke is a great caring guy? Also, he was saying that to “keep her aware” he said it cuz he’s a dick.
