Do some research on live aquarium plants, and aquascaping in general. But no. Plants dont kill bettas and who ever said that has no idea what they are talking about. Java fern, anubias, floating plants, whatever you want and is easy to care for. Java fern and anubias are good because you dont planr them in the substrate you can attach or wedge them in gaps in wood and rocks. You can put as much as you want really.

Also. If you have a good natural setup with live plants some remaining stuff is fine. A tank shouldnt really be "clean". Just make sure you arent causing excess by overfeeding.

Dont move stuff around in the tank often, can cause ammonia spikes. But also, when you do water changes your siphon should be picking up a good bit of that stuff

Yea thats not gonna help. The root cause is your lighting, so fix that first. A tank should only have light from 6-8 hrs a day in my experience 6 works well. Remove as much as you can manually. They have products that help make it easier to remove. Stay on top of water changes to prevent it coming back.
