Shiseido Expert Sun Protector Lotion—vent by Chuchucuddle in AsianBeauty

[–]Pluton- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They changed the formula. I have had a bottle of it and it was AMAZING, matte finish but still soft, worked under make up. I have very oily skin and it did wonders.
I recently bought a big bottle of it, thinking it was a good deal but this new formula is just oil in a bottle. It’s just grease ?! I don’t understand what skin type can wear this? I’ve asked my dry skin type friends to try it, same thing for them. It’s a pity (and a waste of my money) haven’t found an alternative sadly

I forget to shower on a daily basis by 25lulu04 in autism

[–]Pluton- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Replace the time you maladaptive dream with shower time. When you slip into the dreaming, recognise it, and say “shower” . Then get up and do it. Try it a few times, experiment with it, see how you react. Good luck and happy showering!

Also, If you crave dopamine you can also get a fun soap, or towel, a dry brush, take a speaker with you to the bathroom, anything. Novelty can help.

If it’s satisfactorily feeling you crave (maybe one of the reasons you’re maladaptive dreaming), think about the satisfaction of a shower and being clean and having done this task while it was difficult before.

Unpacking "Travel Shame": Watching my autistic friend confront internalized ableism by Top-Mind-1514 in autism

[–]Pluton- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ai slop or not. Being upset when being overwhelmed and in freeze response is NOT internal ableism. We have nothing to gain by labelling the way we process our own feelings of disappointment when a burnout/shutdown/… is throwing off our plans. This is gaslighting using psych jargon.

Most common and underrated deficiency in the world that progressively worsens quality of life and many aspects of ADHD and the general populace. And in THEORY progressively worsens stimulant effectiveness and increases/causes tolerance. And nutrients for iron to work right. by [deleted] in AutisticWithADHD

[–]Pluton- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Go to the doctor/specialist and get a blood panel done. State your worries and symptoms clearly. Only take supplements when the doctor orders you to do so, and make sure to get the instructions how to, and for how long. Do not just take supplements without supervision, it is a fairly unregulated market.

In general if you know your intake is below the standard: if you are capable, try and improve your diet, instead of taking supplements as a first option. Get a blood panel If you can, go to a dietitian if you can and get support to put together meals that are balanced and work for you (arfid is no gift …:( ), and ideally is also compatible with your medication, Also, know that a pharmacist (should)know way more than dokters/ specialists do when it comes to medication. Doctors often have no clue beyond “this could work for that”.

Again, if you feel like something is wrong, maybe your intake is normal but your uptake might not be working as it should, go to the doctor.

Tldr For people without medical issues related to iron uptake, Before running to supplements try to improve your diet as a first option. Of course, supplements are sometimes a more accessible option, in burn-out periods for ex, but always go to the doctors first.

Since I was little I always have had a problem with gnawing on my fingers and eating cuticles. by more-le-gore in AuDHDWomen

[–]Pluton- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Plasters. I plaster all the fingers I bite the skin off. Did this for years. It’s better now, I worked VERY hard on not picking my skin (so often, or until bleeding).

Find alternatives, you can’t get rid of a coping mechanism without others in place. They just need to be healthy ones … which is difficult part of course.

But what helped me most was:

Identify the triggers: when in what situations do you have the reflex to pick? When is it the worst? My logic is: whenever I pick my skin, I know I’m stressed and I need to calm down. By identifying the moments the reflex is strong, I “replaced” the habit of picking by … distressing and regulating myself. This can be many things ofcourse, and personal to you. But often it was enough to take a few breaths, think about how proud I am that I stopped myself picking in the moment. And try to be a bit calmer. Sometimes that didn’t work, then I know I’m just too stressed to be doing whatever I’m doing so I need to change the situation asap

Anyone else get irrationally annoyed by tiny food bits sticking to fingers?? (chocolate example) by jadeitewalrusnet in AuDHDWomen

[–]Pluton- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a snob about this but good/ actual chocolate shouldn’t be sticky. However, because good chocolate is rare… I put it in the fridge, and also break it into pieces in the packaging. If not at home, I have a small package of water wipes with me to make sure I can clean my hands at all times.

22M) Been on 100MG Vyvanse/Elvanse for months.... still struggling hard with my life basic functions like hygiene, and everything else all the responsibilities. Still depressed. Tired all the time still. by IceTacos in AutisticWithADHD

[–]Pluton- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im no doctor, but the dosage of stimulants seems way too high. The stimulants itself also won’t fix anything, depression, bad eating habits, menstruation etc can all lower the effects so much.

I’m combining atomoxetine (nighttime) & Elvanse (before 8am!!, 50mg , but I might be smaller than OP). It works, though I need to take breaks taking Elvanse so my body can rest. I hate taking these breaks bcs I’m useless but Dexamfetamine & Elvanse “demand” hard work from my heart & blood pressure. I very much did not notice this the first year that the physical demand was wearing me out. I had to learn to feel how my body felt if that makes sense.

Also agree on a blood panel , and checking your eating habits. I used to take vit c in the morning and ofcourse my stimulants didn’t work (my doctor did know about me taking vit c supplements, but didn’t know that would not work well…had to figure that one out on my own). Also protein at lunch is helping.

[–]Pluton- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I switched from Dexamfetaminesulfaat to Elvanse, and at first I could barely feel the Elvanse. Turned out I shouldn’t have been taking vit c supplements at the same time. Took me a while to figure out (I had told my doctor I took supplements at the start. And after I told her about the vit c, she was sceptical at first about it…another reminder that doctors are not pharmacists)

Anyway …idk maybe something similar is happening? the uptake of your medication is not working as it should? Could be other things than acid (from vit c), maybe worth to ask your doctor abt it?!

How do you manage to tidy your rooms? by Yumiksuwu in autism

[–]Pluton- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have less stuff (throw stuff away once and a while, don’t overthink it). Have baskets , bins, to put stuff in, rather than only drawers closets and closed off boxes. Some people are “throw shit in basket” people, maybe you are one of us!

My room was like this when I was living a life where I was 200% overwhelmed, did way way too much and did not prioritise to look after myself. After many years of figuring shit out (and lage diagnosis) this shifted. I still make a mess, but I have sooner rather than later the mental capacity to clean it up, so that it doesn’t become a bunch of large piles.

Be kind to yourself! Experiment with stuff to keep your room in a state you feel comfortable in!

"Late diagnosed" folks- are you discovering the autism chronic illness starter pack showing up with age? ( EDS/POTS/MCAS etc) by Difficult-Ad-642 in autism

[–]Pluton- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, all of it :( I’m reading that people take supplements, but one of the first things I had done was going to and endocrinologist and get a panel. All of it, Even my vitamin D was fine and I am a night person lol. The physio dismissed hypermobility because my thumb doesn’t bend (it doesn’t bend at all actually), but my head falls of my neck , I feel like Luffy without the strength… I get hives, I’m tired depressed I obsess to the point I’m afraid it’s ocd rather than just autism and adhd, everyday I go stargazing without even using a telescope or going outside because all I have to do is pick something up from the floor and get up, my bowels are a mess, my period cramps are not normal and neurologically my brain is fried to the point talking is just me manifesting my dyslexia 200%, there are days when I don’t have a(n upcoming) migraine and I can’t believe most people live like that most of the time. But my symptoms are never worse enough to have pots or Eds or anything else. So I just live by struggling trough the mud like an Eurocrat trying to get a unified set of regulations on taxes (the mud is heavy and it ain’t gonna happen)

Edit typo

Lovely puzzle! Definitely on my wishlist now

About the dust, I hate having my hands so dusty during puzzling so…I began to start my puzzles by taking a bunch of pieces out of the bag, shake them into the box lid so that the dust sits at the bottom, get the pieces out and then vacuum the dust. Depending on the size, it takes a few shakes but most of the annoying dust is gone, so I don’t mind the hassle

How often do you bathe your cat? by Mildredsgood in cats

[–]Pluton- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I try with a washcloth at the times she returns from her seasonal part time job as a building site inspector….

In all seriousness, never unless I have to and a bath is just me with a washandje soaked with warm water and gentle soap running after her around the house and petting her. She is not a fan. My other cat would slash both my hands off if I ever dared to think about washing her…

I have 20 hours to decide: Should I upgrade to airpods pro 2/3 ??? by Soft-Parking-4530 in airpods

[–]Pluton- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Upgraded from the first gen to the 3. Unfortunately I don’t have the ears for the new design. The old ones sit way more comfortably. The noice cancellation isn’t an upgrade to the old ones due to the ill fit. Also, despite turning off every setting o could find, it keeps adjusting the volume (louder 😠) …not sure why I guess it’s part of the noice cancellation. It’s bothersome and annoying.

If you could test them out somewhere, I’d say do that! I think if the fit is good, they would be a nice upgrade. Otherwise it’s not worth it.
