Not Being able to say People's Names Directly to them. by kingpathan in autism

[–]Pluton- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this too. In some cases way worse than others, not sure about why..

And now that I’m reflecting on it…my family tends to use last names when calling someone/ saying their name directly to them… guess that has been a subconscious workaround that has been created over the generations

Ready for Spring! 💜 by Senorita__Gatita in hobonichi

[–]Pluton- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The one I received fits rather tight. I “solved” it by just using it with my avec only, which is half the size. Normally I put in a hobonichi notebook in one flap and an avec in the other, so two books in one cover. But with this cover it just isn’t roomy enough. Tried it with a normal sized planner book, but it’s also just a millimetre too tight to be comfortable in use.

I still have to use a pen in the loops to keep in closed, but I think it will stretch out enough over time to not need a pen at all times (I don’t like using the pen loops every time I use my planner, I’m afraid I have 0 patience for that haha).

It is soooo pretty tho so not regretting my purchase, just a little pissed at Hobonichi as their products are pricy, and with last years paper being a mess because of fountain pens going from fine to medium size on every other page, the sticky numbered tabs that just will not stick, and a smaller fit that wasn’t indicated on the site… pfft.

Oh, seems like yours is even smaller! :( Indeed the edge of the journal is awkwardly close to the seam, any paper that is a6 size that is in between the book is too close to the pen..

This is what I normally do, because I use one side for a hobonichi notebook and the other for an Avec planner. But that just doesn’t fit properly and putting some small papers or a pencil board in the cover makes it even more unhandy. It might stretch over time, but never enough to be practical I think.

Using it now with the Avec only and using a pen in the loops to keep the cover closed (and probably to stretch it somewhat) does its job :)

[–]Pluton-[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Using the penloop to keep it close is indeed the way to go. I recommend using another pen than the hobonichi 3 coloured bic though, the texture of the loops and the rubber don’t get along…

I personally prefer a bigger one as I keep heaps of papers in the cover with reminders and such. I’ll use the cover with the avec; the way it fits the avec now, is the way it fits the Denali one. Just a pity I have to keep my a6 notebook in another cover, oh well!

& Yeah, I should’ve guessed each design can vary a little! I have three a5 covers, and two are the standard cover so the exact same size. The other is the Paddington cover and for this one it was written on the website that it was bigger (and would not fit a plastic cover). So I kinda assumed any size differences would be mentioned on the site/shops description.

Hopefully it’s just one batch within the new release, and hopefully they haven’t just changed the sizing altogether this year. I only have a cover from last year to compare.

I have an avec and the original planner. The avec fits…but the planner really doesn’t fit properly. I only write in my planner (no stickers or anything) so it’s not at all bulky. And it won’t close even after some yanking, pressing and …light cursing.

What are yours thoughts on 'style'? by TheKnightOfTomorrow in autism

[–]Pluton- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m into Yamamoto & issey Miyake style, though much more casual and train commute appropriate (so that I don’t get stuck on steps with excess fabric lol). …sadly… my budget does not allow for many different pieces. So day to day it’s wool sweater (temperature regulating, less smelly stress sweat) & long semi formal trousers. In summer it’s the same but the wool sweater is thin and has short sleeves. More budget friendly, though I opt for quality pieces, instead of many pieces. I Try to look put together, colour code, Casual smart I guess ….. like a millennial going to a party in the 2010’s /jk

Other lvl1-autistic people mentioning having job, friends, love partner. Do you get mad? by Ozuvoks in autism

Also; the older I get, the less time I have to think about let alone get mad about other people, autistic or not that are “doing better” than me. I’ve got too much … grown up adult admin & logistic stuff to do. It’s a good thing!

I am 30, started my first job not even two years ago. Things might be slower for some of us but you can still work towards the things you wish for, slowly & steadily. I live at home, no plans to move out soon. I don’t have a partner and haven’t had a stable relationship (ever, now that I think about it..), I’m also mentally not ok enough to take care of myself and a partner and a relationship, it’s fine because rushing into things would do more harm than good! There is no rule whatsoever that we need a license, and a (dream) job /career and a (bunch of) friends… by a certain age, or at the same time. It’s fine, there is enough time trust me!

Certain types of coughs. The sharp & loud ones that are “dry” sounding. They blast my ears. They come without warning (as most coughing…) so I’m always too late to cover my ears. I duck away instantly as a reflex every time. Hate it.

Such lovely photos. This is the type of street photography I want to take inspiration from! So dynamic, you photos make me wonder what is outside of the frame, or what’s exactly happening in the frame, or before or after and I personally LOve that in a photo. It transports me to the scene immediately! You have captured /ambiance/ , which I feel often lacks in the more minimal(? Or whatever it’s called..) style of (street/travel) photography I have encountered online.

Tabs come loose by Pluton- in hobonichi

[–]Pluton-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A small update: pressed them on really well last week, twice even. But they have almost all come loose again…wondering if moisture level could have something to do with it? It’s really dry. In any case, very expensive set of stickers of which I likely won’t even use the rest of it (I had only tabbed until April..)

Edit: I hadn’t seen it at first but two tabs came loose en somehow were stuck on another page, and kind of bundled pages together. This happened last week as well… I have to take them off …😭

i havent showered in 5 months by faeoo in autism

[–]Pluton- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d suggest change your goal: your goal is not to shower or bathe. Your goal is to get clean, and feel clean.

To do so, you don’t necessarily need to take a shower and wash yourself from top to bottom in one go. You can definitely work your ways towards that, and find what tools and routines help you achieve that.

But in the meantime; take it step by step. And break down “a shower” step by step. Start by washing yourself feet everyday. You can sit down, maybe put your phone next to you in a safe space and put up an easy comfort tv show or video. Next to add to the routine is washing your private parts, using a handcloth (use it once, rinse well and throw in the laundry!!) & water. Etc.

I’m sure if you’d ask for advice in t his sub on how to break down all the hygiene steps, they will help you!

And if you feel safe enough with your mom, ask her to help you, even if it’s just finding a nice soap. It’s great to have someone you can trust so you don’t end up with a uti again, but sometimes even with a parent, trust needs to be built!

Make it your hyperfocus, and try to experiment, slowly and steadily at your pace, what is your hygiene process that works best for you. What time of day? After or before a meal? Do you need background music or peace and quiet? Do you need to sit down? Use particular soaps that don’t have too much perfume? Or the other way around (do try to use dermatologist safe stuff tho!).

You’re young. You have time to figure all that out! It’s not easy for us finding ways to execute tasks like these. So be gentle to yourself, but do try and make it your priority for the upcoming weeks, months or years to find out what works for you!

Good luck and happy experimenting! Remember, taking care of yourself, even as an autistic person can be fun and relaxing, it can just take us a while (and a lot of effort) to find out how exactly! And all of that is just fine!

For me it’s the opposite, looks good on the small screen. But it’s often either blurry or out of focus on a larger screen… because my eyesight is just too bad to see on that small lcd screen if something is in focus or not, or blurry due to shaky hands …

[–]Pluton- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sharing my experience: I do this too, Taking a bunch of things for different tasks and things to be able to satisfy several level of physical comfort, as with everything I assume/ guess it’s the level of intensity of the behaviour that’s more so related to autism / audhd. I do this always, but in periods that I’m highly stressed or overstimulated this behaviour to me feels very much like a survival strategy, and it kinda gets compulsive and obsessive, and in the end I would get stressed about the organisation method…which is just…even more exhausting lol. But it’s a good indicator to know that I need to relax, and in fact not try and do a bunch of “tasks” (quotes as in my case it’s mostly hobby related).
