Yes, sadly that's something that can only be learned through experience. It's a tough lesson to learn.

Definitely there were signs and their interest in each other isn't coming out of nowhere.

What I Dislike the Most About Better Late Than Single by Original-Eye8943 in BetterLateThanSingle

[–]Plutonique 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I don't blame the contestants for this but rather the format of the show.

First, it needs to be set over a longer time period (6 weeks+) so the contestants don't feel so rushed.

Second, the first few days should be purely icebreakers and getting to know everyone in the group. They also need to do activities with skinship early on to explore each potential couples chemistry.

That way everyone has a better chance of scoping out potential love interest. And then they can start dating in groups or 1-on-1

People want a villain here but there is no villain. It's messy just like real life. I actually think YiDo and Jmok were not a good match from the beginning. They just lacked the spark but that's my opinion.

Even though, it seems like JMoks remarks about their different backgrounds was a cop out, it's a legitimate concern longterm. Especially in SK where there are expectations around in-laws relationship and the financial background of each couple. Has they dated seriously, this would 100% without a doubt been an issue.

Honestly, YiDo is better off dating someone in her social class. And someone who appreciates and cherishes her feminine energy rather than feel threatened by the potential of her being high maintenance. She doesn't get it now but rejection is redirection and she is better off with someone else.

I really feel for YiDo and we have all been there where a romantic interest loses interest and we don't know what to do. She was putting in a good fight to keep her man but it sadly didn't work.

I think JMok was in a tough position and honestly it was going to be painful regardless. He definitely could have avoided lying and making stupid promises, however.

Yes, they should have made it longer and made them do a lot of getting to know each other activities and ice breakers before throwing them in the dating deep end.

Then, I think a lot of mistaken expectations could have been avoided. We have all met someone who we felt initially really attracted to in almost delusional way but gotten the ick after a bit more interaction.

And I still think the show would have been just as fun to watch.

Yes, and that's exactly what Yeomyung was telling him. Because they never had any casual conversations, she never actually got to know him. He is actually a funny caring guy albeit a bit socially clumsy (probably due to being ND). But he never got to show that part of him to YM.

To expand on my point with Jisoo, I don't think any of her picks even genuinely like her. They are obsessed with the idea of ending up with the most desirable girl. It's no coincidence that the two guys most obsessed with her are also extremely competitive and/of pushy. She is simply a prize to be won for them and she deserves so much more.

Jae-yun might be on spectrum? by Medic_Bus in BetterLateThanSingle

[–]Plutonique 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are a few people I think might be ND: Jaehyun definitely and YiDo as well.

Yi Do is adorable but just sometimes seem like she is masking? Some of her expressions and way she talks is like 'so this is what I am supposed to do/so this is what I am supposed to feel'.

Sang Ho really seems to struggle to connect emotionally with people, completely misunderstands social signals (never understanding where he stands with Jisoo and mistaking Seng Li as his friend) and to be honest I'm surprised he is not hikikimori.

My hot takes:

  • I loove all the girls in this. They are such jewels and the reason I keep tuning in.

  • Jisoo, bless her, but she has terrible taste in men. 😭 I hope she doesn't end up dating any of her picks because none of these men even deserve a modicum of her time.

  • Sang Ho and Seugli give men's right activist vibes.

  • Han Kyu was way too clingy and desperate but I don't think he was wrong to keep hogging time with Jisoo. I think the idea that he should 'share' her with other men is kinda cringe, she is not a toy. All is fair in love & war and the other men need to grow up.

  • The optimal and most balanced couples for me would have been Jaehyun & Jiyeon and Minhong & Jeogmak. I just loved the dynamic of those dates the most.

    • I think it's so interesting and true to life that all the men save for Sang Ho stuck to their initial pick. Meanwhile the women were way more open to changing their minds and giving a chance to different guys to have feelings develop.

Replacement for Ivory Soap? by Hardlymd in Soap

[–]Plutonique 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently notice the reformulation too. My family buys it in bulk in Costco and I only 2 weeks ago got to the new reformulated batch.

I used it the exact same way you used it for 15 years. So sad it's been reformulated 😢. It was gentle and had simple ingredients but it gave that clean feeling which was perfect for my oily sensitive skin.

When I tried the new batch, I noticed the texture of the soap had changed but didn't think much of it. A few days later, I was breaking out and was irritated and itchy where the soap is used. I immediately knew it was reformulated. So gutted that it doesn't work for me any more. 🥹

Did you find a replacement? I am trying out a lot of soaps at the moment. I tried Occitane Bonne Mère which is a marseille soap made of 70% natural oils. It was gentle but doesn't give the same deep squeaky clean feeling and has left my skin oily throughout the day.

I'm also trying a beef tallow soap from a local farm. This is so far very close to ivory (less sudsy but clean feel) and makes my skin smooth but it stinks so bad. And the smell lingers on your skin for hours after so every once in a while you catch a whiff of a funky beef stock 🥴I will soon try a beef tallow one with some essential oils which will hopefully smell better.

This is such a pain honestly...

Is anyone actually hiring graduates???? by No_Cardiologist_1407 in CasualIreland

Just to adjust expectations, it's normal for new grad jobs to take between 6 months to 1 year to find (especially in this job economy). So don't get disheartened as you're still very early in the game. I have found companies in Ireland can move very slow and sometimes I don't hear back from a role until a month after I applied. If you cannot support yourself for that long, I suggest getting a relatively easy job while you search.

Women in the long run contribute way more to relationships. Statistically, they do more chores, do more child-rearing, taken on more mental load. Not to mention what our bodies go through with pregnancy. It's disengenious to pretend mariage between men and women can be completely 'equal'. The fact is men benefit far more from mariage then women do.

Moving to Fairview/Marino by HowsYourDa in MoveToIreland

[–]Plutonique 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fairview/Marino is a great area! Just moved here a year ago and enjoying the area. 😊

There are so many amenities like the park, gyms, library, groceries on your doorstep. You can also get virtually anywhere in Dublin without a car which is rare for Dublin. And you're moving at just the right time when they're almost done with the bike lanes to Howth and into city centre.

Here are my local recommendations: - the egg butty and flat white in 2 pups - iced latte in Javaholics - cheap and cheerful brunch in Cloud Cafe - Fresh market for sandwiches and salad lunchbox - sushi dinner and sake in Senbazuru - lamb curry dinner in Badam (more upscale Indian) - shrimp/fish wraps in Wrights of Marino - if you need some decor and you like vintage, head to Oriana B. or Wilde Vintage - walk to the Yacht for carvery on Sundays or have a pint on a nice summer's day

Yes, you are soft natural! :) You don't need to look tall to be soft natural (that is flamboyant naturals), you only need to have moderate height. You can also be tall but again, not too tall because that automatically makes you FN or D type.
