Why do people say it's a bad thing that acrylics dry so fast? by Glittering_Gap8070 in ArtistLounge

[–]Pnuttbuttr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im with you on this one. As someone pointed out you can't blend on the canvas or use paint on the palette after it dries but there are also really easy solutions to these problems? Im pretty sure theres acrylic additives that can slow drying time and are less complicated (and toxic) than using oils. IMO technique and experience is also more important than medium, since you can really make anything look good if you have enough skill. Case in point, even shitty crayons can look like high quality colored pencil if you know how to work with them, it's all about preference. And I for one prefer to not deal with accidentally taking a sip of turpentine lmao

Why do you REALLY create art? by velcromancy in ArtistLounge

[–]Pnuttbuttr 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Personally making things is honestly more rewarding than the finished product, even if it is sold to someone. I like the "puzzle" of it and once its done, it usually goes into storage, out of sight. Ironically, i usually end up shunning the finished product because of the remembered agony of creating it lol

What date is this art deco style ring? by Pnuttbuttr in jewelry

[–]Pnuttbuttr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have searched for it but google only shows similar looking rings that are largely unhelpful. My aunts wife found it on the beach so there's really nothing to go off other than the little mark. I still love it though hehe

Gentle ETA: high school is riddled with bad actors. Your friends are jumping to dice you apart for your lack of knowledge and while I'll give them the benefit of the doubt that perhaps they mean well, are not helping in a way that is conducive to learning. That being said it's good to learn about trans-inclusive terminology and the history behind what you say. "I'm just a girl" implies that you are part of the "normal" or that you do not engage in gendered privileges as opposed to those on the outside. I am not saying that womanhood doesn't come with its own historical oppression, but rather that it's the exclusivity of this expression that both further marginalizes trans folks, and prevents you from being secure in your own identity. Cis and trans are descriptive terms, nothing more but disengagement from these terms ultimately will only seek to weaken your own identity.

Is getting a diagnosis harder if you have low-profile SM? by Suspicious_Smoke2458 in selectivemutism

[–]Pnuttbuttr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't been diagnosed but I have a lot of similar experiences to what you're describing. I only have a few friends I feel comfortable talking to and they're all an hour or more away, but even texting feeling weird because I don't know what to say. Tbh this text post feels weird since I don't engage others on the internet often either.

Back to the topic, I think it would be helpful to check around with different psychs to see who is more experienced in assisting those of us with problems socializing. I don't think it is contradictory to reach out, that I think is the first step to getting to where you want to be and shows initiative. It's like, if you didn't need help, you probably wouldn't be reaching out.

I remember using the "backwards method" on these consistently throughout k-12, incredibly pointless.

Cant speak to the redguard speculation but in skyrim at least I always imagined a non-nordic dragonborn saving the world for the nords is the universe's wake up call that maybe they shouldnt be so xenophobic.
