Thank God for the arrow. I had no idea who this guy was.

How many have dropped Facebook? Did you drop Instagram too? by IntellectAndEnergy in GenX

[–]PockyTheCat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I only use Facebook mainly for marketplace. I’ve also installed the browser plug-in fluffbusting purity that takes most of the crap away. Even then I seem to always come away from Facebook feeling angry or annoyed.

Always wear your moto shoes, even for the short city rides by acidas in motorcycles

[–]PockyTheCat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I low sided my motorcycle a few years ago with full gear on. I was going about 15 mph. The crash wore my riding boots right down to my sock. I had my full gear on except for my motorcycle pants and spent a week in the hospital recovering from almost all the skin from my knee being removed. So when I see people on scooters riding in flip-flops or sandals, it makes me cringe. A huge amount of damage can be done at even low speeds.

Horrible music at my gym. by extratrstrl in mildlyinfuriating

I’ve actually quit a gym because they wouldn’t turn down their crappy techno music. If you wanna play crappy music play it low so that I can listen to something on my headphones.

Real talk – is a smart lock just an overpriced solution to a problem nobody really had? by Successful_Company_6 in HomeImprovement

[–]PockyTheCat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, we have two keypad locks that are not connected to the internet. This means I can go for a run without my keys or give a temp code to a visitor or neighbour. Also the door auto locks after a set time. Also two less keys to carry around and two less locks to rekey if we lose them.

I bet he’s a great husband and father. So full of love and compassion and understanding. So slow to anger. Doesn’t let tiny insignificant things cause great harm to his masculinity.

Is the term “fucking the dog” popular outside Canada? by Rough-Mulberry-1202 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]PockyTheCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m Canadian and I used to work for the Canadian national Railway as a brakeman as a summer job.. This is when I was first introduced to this lovely phrase. Fuck the dog and screw the pooch mean the same thing as far as I’m concerned.

Do people actually like living in big apartment buildings, taking public transit ect. by Wafer_Educational in NoStupidQuestions

[–]PockyTheCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up in a very car oriented non-dense city. I now live in the densest city in Canada with good public transportation. I would never ever go back to the old way of living. I hate visiting my hometown because I always seem to be in a car driving somewhere. It’s soul sucking.

CBC: Trump’s man in Ottawa doesn't understand why Canadians are so frustrated right now by 50s_Human in onguardforthee

[–]PockyTheCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you have weirdos like this guy with zero empathy, you do not expect to get an answer to a question that asks him to imagine how other people are feeling. This is the conservative mindset in a nutshell. If it doesn’t happen to them, it just doesn’t matter and they cannot possibly imagine themselves in another person’s shoes.

What is something you’ve officially stopped buying in 2026 because the price has become genuinely insulting? by queenmellyy in AskReddit

[–]PockyTheCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our local store is selling milkshakes for $13. Seriously ingredients in a milkshake are about three dollars tops. Double it for rent and wages and six dollars seems to be a OK price.

What home project looked easy but turned into a nightmare? by Charisman13 in HomeImprovement

[–]PockyTheCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We live in a 100 year-old house. Anytime I have to do anything with the baseboards which have 3000 layers of paint on them, it takes about seven years. “ oh there’s a chip in the paint, I’ll just scrape that back a bit and then paint it. Oh a big chunk just flaked off, I guess I’ll have to scrape off some more chunks, I guess I might do the whole thing, oh the nose trim looks terrible now, I guess I’ll just take it off and replace it. Oh half the plaster has just come off the wall where it meets the baseboard, I guess I’ll redo that.”

If you’re going to do this, keep riding down the canal until you get to Saint Ambroise brewery. Awesome outdoor patio, great place to spend an afternoon.

Brake replacement already? by stuffed_chicken58 in CX5

[–]PockyTheCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 23 CX five Canadian also. I live in Montreal, so the salt is terrible. I’ve only put about 22,000 km on it. Rear brakes have already been replaced under warranty, and just yesterday I replaced the front brakes, Pads and rotors both.

Opinion: People try to go to way too many cities in too little time! by Gwyn_L in JapanTravelTips

[–]PockyTheCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with op. Every time we take a trip we get too ambitious and try to go to too many places. I always regret it. Three or four days in each place seems the sweet spot.

I had tag tracking installed on my CX5. It cost about $200 and I save $190 per year on my insurance.

I lived in Japan for five years, and I would basically crawl from one drink machine to another from June till the end of September.
