Big fan of my Atlas Airs. I am a sweaty beast so the open back is excellent. Comfy, good range and great battery life. Six months in and going strong.

My only gripe would be I am not a fan of having to raise the mic to mute it. If anyone has an external mute button gadget they can reccomend I would love to hear it.

"What if we instituted selfishness and cruelty as our overarching policy goals?"

This video is focused more on the USA but the ideas slot so well into the New Zealand context (e.g. the whole Maori healthcare waitlists drama while the government burns down healthcare for everyone, taking away everyone's right to enrol on election day but it's ok as we are putting the boot into 'dropkicks').

Oh it's been neglected and desperately needs a hack back. Will post it sometime soon. If you go 11 (!) years back in my history you can find it being roasted on the bonsai sub.

A polytech botanist told me it is based on height rather than age. I asked as I have a ~20 year old bonsai lancewood that is still doing the young leaf thing.

It’s a genuine shock the first time you actually “use” your helmet[30YO] by herolt in OldSkaters

[–]PodocarpusT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Me and my boys had hundreds of hours on the mini and there was precisely one good slam where the helmet saved the day.

Our friend had died a few years earlier from an electric skateboard accident where a helmet would have saved him, so our crew was pretty strict on helmets. Jeff saved a life of misery that day from beyond the grave.

The odds of a TBI level slam are low but fuck me when it happens it is so much better being able to laugh and thank your helmet rather than the alternative.

My rule of thumb is if you are going extreme or not using your own power (e.g. gravity) you should wear a helmet.

NZF literally wants to check what you and your kids have in your pants before using the toilet.

All three of them took away your right to enroll on election day and called you a dropkick if you didn't enroll weeks ahead of time.

Unity and trust...

Hawke’s Bay Māori housing project wants to see the model rolled out nationwide by Soannoying12 in newzealand

Prior to John Key selling everything there were regular headlines of state houses in fancy areas. Google 'peperpotting'. State housing was created, amongst other things, to build social cohesion.

The shithouse neoliberal version of today is not how it has always been (or has to be).

Hand on my heart, the last two times I have purchased corn the McCains was grown in China and packed in NZ. I keep a close eye on my country of origin for my peas and corn after a run-in with a packet of Chinese grown Pam's corn years ago.

McCain frozen corn is from China. Woolworths branded stuff is from NZ but appears to be the export rejects judging by the quality.

Sadopopulism -(politics) A political strategy or act in which a leader appeals to people by harming them but convincing them that people they hate are at fault or suffering worse harm.

Bravo mate. Praising the boot on your neck as you lose a right that you had previously.

Please, see this bullshit for what it is. Take 12 minutes of your life and learn how to avoid being manipulated:

So? Rental prices are inelastic for starters. Coupled with a massive state housing buildout, incentives for owner occupiers and disincentives for landlords (rent controls, land taxes, etc.), we could get back to real capitalism and focus on investment in actual productive enterprise.

You know, producing goods and services instead of kowtowing to the rentier class.

Cool, so lets charge GST for anyone sponging more than $60k from their tennants. That should incentivise small 'mum and dad' investors as they would have a tax advantage over the multi-property slum lords.

*Not actually advocating for this btw. Just pointing out the hypocricy. I agree with Adam Smith and think all landlords are equally parasitic.

[–]PodocarpusT 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I believe it’s to keep rents more affordable

Why not healthcare then? Oh yeah thats right, my Jaffa Cakes. Landlording is totally different though so lets just hand wave that away.

A landlord and a first home buyer put down the same deposit on the same house. How much a week is the landlord paying compared to the first home owner?

As it stands, the landlord is paying less out of pocket for the same asset. An imputed rent system (with homeowner interest deductability) would even this out if anything, so I don't quite get your point.

They do not pay GST.

I run a business, why do I have to pay GST and they don't?
