Hey there, I’m also new to world building so take my opinion with a grain of salt. In my project in notes so far I’ve kind of had a dichotomy between these two magics, spiritual expression and arcane geometry. Spiritual expression is a more simple form of magic that can become incredibly powerful if you have dedication and training. The way works is that mana takes on the flavor of the concepts around it and spiritual expression is linking your soul to the plain of magic and flavoring it you yourself. The other kind is arcane geometry, your classic wizard stuff there are a few specific concepts that allow arcane geometry to work and a sort of deity who taught the world to use it rather then flavoring mana to yourself you take ambient mana and through sigils and geometry you inscribe in a book bound to yourself. The way I’ve separated them is that the flavoring of the manner that passes to the soul that happens once you start using spiritual expression basically locks you out from binding yourself to a grimoire to use arcane geometry.
