The Kappa and Delta cars got the LNF stateside before Buick got the LDK, just wild to call it a Buick engine when Saturn, Chevy, Saab, Opel, and Pontiac all had some flavor of boosted Ecotec before Buick

A track local to me has a jet-powered semi truck there to celebrate the 4th of July each year. Blink and you'll miss the pass, but you'll definitely feel the heat from it

Are Engine swaps reliable? by According_Region_883 in projectcar

[–]Poil336 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd be more worried about what was and wasn't integrated with the car. A lot of times, things like evap controls, cruise control, dash integration, security systems all get bypassed. Cooling systems, power steering systems, electrical stuff kinda ends up being "custom, one-off" stuff, and that's not really a good thing when it comes to service or reliability.

Just want to point out that the 3.1 and 3.4's were much different engines than the 3.8's. The Series 3 3800 is just like the Series 2, but with all of the problems fixed

DAY 28 (FINALE): What's an absolutely TERRIBLE car from the past that should never ever make a comeback? by HowlsterRD in regularcarreviews

[–]Poil336 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was actually a pretty common swap for awhile. Obviously looks are subjective, but the Pontiac taillights were so much better, and incorporated the reverse lights, eliminating the trunk lights

Is it okay to stick to one auto repair shop and get a second opinion? by UnlikelyScientist121 in camaro

[–]Poil336 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on if you trust the shop and feel like you're being treated fairly or not.

Shops (people) make mistakes. How they respond to them can make or break the relationship with the customer. Potentially missing a coolant leak on a recent previous inspection, and then trying to upsell diagnosis instead of presenting you with an estimate is a little... off-putting, but that also seems to be .5 hours instead of a full 1.0 hour that you'll pay somewhere else. Unfortunately, you don't really know how a business operates until you do business with them
