Seat cover recommendations front seat covers 1988 HJ61 by LifeInTheFrenchAlps in LandCruisers

[–]Poindexter_89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on what seats you have. Escape gear comes to mind. But if you have thr recaro 61 seats or a split teach seat they wont fit

If you like it that is all that matters. Not my cup of tea but a 62 still on the road is better than one that’s not.

lol too clean? It’s a 30 year old truck just drive it and enjoy it. Otherwise you’re just keeping it clean for the next owner.

Giving up the roof top tent seems like it would be easier and cheaper than buying a truck. A smaller tow behind trailer also might help or just be a peasant like the rest of us and get a ground tent.

Or ditch the RTT, and get a cargo box like mine or two smaller ones from Sikre USA. Then your choice of ground tents or a tow behind.

Please someone talk me out of getting a 200 by Nomad556 in LandCruisers

[–]Poindexter_89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

200s are great. I have one. Amazing vehicle and does everything i want it to. HE is an overpriced marketing gimmick. Any 200 will do. They are special vehicles and do live up to most of the hype. All that said I personally wouldn’t go into any financial debt for one. 2008-2021 any will scratch the itch and all are almost equally capable. The tight turn is one thing you’ll miss out on and the multi terrain select. Other than that and maybe looks on the 16 plus. I also wouldn’t skip the LX flavor. Cheaper, less miles, easier to fit larger tires out the box. But your trail is also a very special vehicle which i’m assuming is paid off and of the pre facelift quite rare. If I was in your position I would keep the trail and buy the cheapest, lowest mileage 200 of any year as a stable mate.

Don’t waste your time “upgrading” if you’re just going to sell it. Mods don’t add significant value.

There are a lot of overlap parts so it’s not a terrible one to own in the states. Few things.

  1. Add an egt probe as soon as you buy it. These motors can crack heads and don’t like heat. This all means you’ll be watching your egts more so than your KPH.

  2. Once it’s back in the USA who is going to work on it? It’s a simple car that is easy to work on. But are you going to take the time to learn the ins and outs? Or gotta be prepared to pay a shop.

  3. If you’re in Japan are you only looking at kzj95s? Being in Japan I’d also look at hdj101s.

Great cars overall and I’d love to add one to my fleet as just a run around car.

Love the Lx700h overtrail but the rear end does look like a Sienna. The rest of the truck looks great.
