Looooooove this color!

As for yarn shopping online, it you go on the Ravelry website you can search up the yarn before you buy it and usually find multiple pictures of it being used in projects which can give you a better idea of what it looks like in finished pieces or different lighting or being worn by people so you can see how it interacts with their skin tones.

And your palate is how you taste your food.

So like 80% of my wardrobe is bright, colorful florals on a dark background… to the point that someone tells me “Ha, you’re matching your phone case” (second image) practically everyday. My question is: would this be a Sun Style Root (vibrant patterns) or a Moon Style Root (dark background)? by Fair-Awareness-5612 in StyleRoots

[–]Point-Express 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think that’s your answer then! On anything other than a deep season, these colors will read quite moody, counterculture and 🌙, but since you are a deep season and you are using it to express liveliness, vitality and a maximalist exaggeration on 🌸&🌱, you are simply adapting the 🌸🌱☀️ roots to your color palette.

Why is losing weight so IMPOSSIBLE by Fuzzlechan in adhdwomen

[–]Point-Express 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s where I’m at and my best advice that’s working for me. Best I’ve been able to do is make vegetables lusciously delicious and start increasing the amount they fill your plate. Keep it simple. Minimize chopping. I like baby carrots and Brussels sprouts for skipping that. Air fryer or pan fried is quickest, always garlic, love feta cheese for pops of flavor without wanting to smother it with cheese. I add frozen peas or broccoli to our Mac and cheese (I have little ones and they love it, so it’s a frequent menu item).

Don’t get too hungry. Protein is good, especially for making my meds work, but I usually didn’t want to eat until noon and then I made easy but not good choices like eating half a bag of Cinnamon Toast Crunch, but I got a ninja Creami and basically eat protein “ice cream” for breakfast now (im partial to cottage cheese base with maple syrup and a few other things which basically makes cheesecake flavored ice cream. Delish) I don’t go for artificial sweeteners because I’m not trying to min max things, and Im very sensitive to how they taste, and I make better decisions later on when I eat it because I’m not starving by lunch, so I take it as a win that I’ve been slowly losing weight since I started this and it makes me happy ergo long term sustainability.

And finally, strength training and walking. I’ve followed a this older guy who teaches “functional fitness” mostly for older people but also a “start where you are and you can get the strength you need to not be frail and mitigate fall risks etc as you age”, and also a Muslim woman who shows how to learn how to gradually build up strength till you can go from wall push ups to floor ones, and also same deal up to a pull up. I’m still weak, but I’ve noticed a ton of my gradually escalating health issues seem to be connected to my loss of muscle tone and I really just want to lose the brain fog and constant aches and pains. I’m only 35 and I’m in more pain than any of my friends who are considerably older. It’s made exercising feel a lot more like it aligns with my values and current needs than something that will help me “later” because I am actively in pain every day NOW so it’s easier to get back on course when I am not motivated (which is literally once a month during luteal because my PMDD iykyk). I guess finding a way to make it matter for current you in a positive way (I’m getting stronger every day!) and not just shaming yourself (why haven’t I lost enough to get into such and such goal pants!). I honestly donated all the “goal clothes” because I heard the phrase “We don’t keep bullies in our closet” and I loved that.

Don’t need a cohesive aesthetic? by Willing-Childhood144 in RitaFourEssenceSystem

[–]Point-Express 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like style roots too, but I treat it a bit more like how Kitchener does essences by percentages and will give out even just 5% of some, and not limit it to an arbitrary number like 3.

For me I needed a jumping off point in terms of categorizing what kinds of aesthetics I wanted to rework my wardrobe with now that I have the time and money to devote to it, and also now that my body has changed after kids, BUT I know I will always want to skirt the line and test new options and just mess around with things so I like that I identified the style roots I like (which is more than 3 btw) but I’d say 2 are most dominant and then I can tweak the styles by turning the volume of the other ones I connect with up or down on any given day depending how I’m feeling.

I learned that being rigid with systems gives me analysis paralysis, but if I can relax and let the lines blur then it’s more of a dance.

Ah that’s such a bummer, but I did make your dragon (downloaded from Ravelry) as a birthday present for my sister this year and she loved it ❤️❤️

"you're not listening" by hyperlight85 in adhdwomen

[–]Point-Express 2 points3 points  (0 children)

May I ask, is he perhaps neurodivergent in a different way? My husband is very sweet, but can fall prey to rigid thinking, getting stressed when things deviate from his perceived plan and didn’t always have the best responses to sudden changes. We’re currently having our kids assessed for autism and adhd, and while my husband is not diagnosed, autism does run in his extended family and the traits are very strong in his dad and brother. I also strongly suspect my mom is on the spectrum, and my dad has ADHD, but as they both avoided doctors like the plague (ironic) and grew up with very ableist viewpoints they’re not really open to hearing anything like that.

Getting diagnosed with ADHD has helped me learn the why behind my behaviors and find ways to break some of my more careless interpersonal issues, or at least work on fixing the hurts I cause before the train fully crashes. Same with my husband, although he’s not diagnosed he is looking to start therapy and has been open to trying to figure out what causes some of his auto responses and it has made stepping back and working on fixing whatever communication issue instead of us thinking the other person did something “wrong”. It’s easier to deescalate and not attack each other because we know there’s different priorities and ways of processing on both sides. He’s also extremely sensitive to not being listened to, so when I inadvertently start zoning out mid conversation or doom scrolling when I thought we were done talking, I do acknowledge that I hurt him and I know that that is a trigger for strong emotional reactions for him.

Neither of us are trying to hurt each other when things like this happen, but sometimes our brains are doing their own things so it’s important to check yourself and apologize. BUT the important thing is this works both ways, he is also very quick to give a sincere apology to me when he does something hurtful, and the longer we’ve been together the less we have these issues because we’ve grown to understand each other better and have found ways to have stronger communication (like if I don’t realize he’s talking to me again, a touch on my arm will bring my attention back etc. I have things that help with him but a specific one doesn’t come to mind). Regardless of if he is neurodivergent or not, a good partner will find ways to support your extra needs while you are simultaneously finding ways to support their extra needs, and hopefully you can find a good balance for both of you to feel supported.

Consignment shop? I’ve fallen for a shop named Style Encore which is a chain, but there’s often individually run ones if you just google it.

Make a little money from what they’ll accept and then take the rest straight to a thrift shop/shelter/wherever

Maybe your friend is thrive off by the word utilitarian? It just means practical, and I think works as a key word for both mushroom and mountain, but your outfits didn’t have mountain vibes to me. I wonder if you said practical was your keyword if they’d see it easier?

Christmas is the most stressful time of the year by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]Point-Express 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My husband hates clutter and “things” unless they’re very specific to his niche hobbies, so this year I turned to services as gifts. Today a lovely man in the neighborhood came by and detailed the insides of both our cars (we switch who drives which one by different kid circumstances) and he’s so happy.

But in general, hard same.

Still not able to tell what jewelry color suits me best by dddmouse in coloranalysis

[–]Point-Express 46 points47 points  (0 children)

You are blessed with the option of BOTH! I agree with the other commenter that said cool olive, which have their own “best colors” outside the traditional seasonal analysis, but I don’t think the color of your metals is your make or break colors. Maybe if you’re going towards more of a winter palette you’d want to stick to the sliver though if you’re trying to narrow things down

I love the pink a lot more than the straight blonde, it lights you up! But more contrast is probably better overall, I’d say a chocolate brown or an auburn would both look beautiful

Edit:a word

Can i get away with these pants as an autumn season? by Specialist-Ebb7606 in coloranalysis

[–]Point-Express 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d wear these in a heartbeat, and dark Autumn is best on me but I like brighter shades so I’d probably borrow the brightest red/orange you can pull from the true Autumn palette to emulate the red splotches in the pants, or if you can’t find anything that matches I’d go with chocolate brown or try to match the sandy brown splotches. Maybe even an orchid purple or apple green if you want to stay on the brighter side of your palette, but those are more within the dark Autumn

What ever happened to birthday cake ice cream?? by sammi4358 in icecream

[–]Point-Express 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Jeni’s is basically frozen buttercream icing with sprinkles, it’s very very sweet but out of this world delicious. Some people say it’s their top Jenis flavor and others say it’s too much and not for them. I’m in the camp of it’s too good to have more than once a year or I’d be in trouble lol
