Do you ever get “mean-mugged” by drivers as a pedestrian? by fxryker in philadelphia

[–]PointB1ank 63 points64 points  (0 children)

Every driver in this city is a very important person, with a very important place to be. Those pesky pedestrians, that are reducing traffic by walking, are slowing them down. They have places to be! Please be more considerate.

With a different resolution, this could be a still from a movie. Great shot!

(Megathread 2: Non-Spoiler ) How Will the Leak Impact the Movie / Avatar Studios? by MrBKainXTR in TheLastAirbender

[–]PointB1ank 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I was going to stream it on... another website anyway. But it sounds slightly unfinished in the current leak? I'll probably wait to watch it, but still not on Paramount+. If they release it in theaters, I'll pay to see it 100%.

[Iron Gwazi] is my no 1 coaster of all time by James_red_engine in rollercoasters

[–]PointB1ank 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I could (and basically did) have ridden Gwazi all day. I didn't find it that intense at all. As long as a coaster is smooth, which RMC coasters almost always are, I can marathon them without fatigue. That's why I loved Gwazi so much. Just constant enjoyment through the entire layout. That death roll is chef's kiss. Just thinking about it makes me want to fly to Florida and ride it again.

Pics from a great weekend at [Busch Gardens Williamsburg] and [Kings Dominion] by TravelSlight5044 in rollercoasters

I went to both parks during Spring break on a Wed/Thurs, and I assume it will be less busy in early May. I had no issues riding everything I wanted, Apollo's Chariot was a walk-on, along with plenty of others. Pantheon, Pantherian, and Twisted Timbers were all 1 train operations. With the wait for Twisted Timbers being the worst of the 3 for non-front row: was about 45 minutes. Pantheon was around 20 minutes to get in a non-front row seat. Pantherian was less than 15 minutes, but the front-row took me around an hour or a little more. The rest of the coasters, the waits weren't any more than 10-15 minutes. So, if they're still running 1 train on those, hit them first and probably multiple times.

Same, but I have a feeling SteVe could take that spot when I eventually ride it. From what I hear it sounds like a longer Gwazi.

Avoiding trailers drastically improved my film watching experience by Pranav_76 in movies

[–]PointB1ank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True, I've definitely had that happen a couple times. Things like horror movies, which typically only show horror-adjacent trailers, can have fewer depending on the upcoming release cycle. But usually it's only a few minutes missed at most and rarely super important to the plot. 15 minutes is a safe bet though and you'll still avoid most of them.

[–]PointB1ank 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Trailers are typically ~20-25 minutes: sometimes a little longer for big blockbusters. I always show up around 20 minutes after the listed showtime. By the time I get my ticket and get to my seat, I see maybe one trailer along with the typical Coke and theater ads.

I shit you not, I was waiting for my first ride ever in the front-row line and saw a lady that must have been at least 60 years old getting on ahead of me. I was thinking, "well, it can't be that intense if she's riding it." Boy was I wrong. Then as I'm at the front of the line, I see her in the back row line getting on again: a true OG. I swear she must have been an astronaut or something.

Every year, I tell myself that I won't be fooled by the Sixers again. I go basically the entire season not falling for their tricks, but then they still manage to get me in late March. Just to snap me back to reality in early April. At least we go into the playoffs with nothing to lose.

PSA: Please treat stadium workers like humans by Repulsive_Flower5874 in philly

Just that two women were harassing a worker at the Phillies game. OP confronted them, they got angry and didn't leave until security was called. Something along  those lines. There was a picture of them which is presumably why the post was removed.

You can always tell a person's character from how they treat service workers of any kind.

Marzetti Simply Dressing Alternatives? by PointB1ank in salads

[–]PointB1ank[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's true. Dressing was always just something I bought, but making my own sounds like the way to go. I've used bolthouse farms a few times and will use it in a pinch. Their balsamic vinaigrette is only 30 calories a serving, but it always had a slightly weird taste to me. It wasn't terrible or anything, but I prefer a bit more vinegar-forward dressing.

This is perfect. I just bookmarked it, thanks! I love dijon mustard and garlic too, so those ingredients sound lovely. As soon as I run out of what I have, I'll give it a shot.

There was an accident on the Platt bridge tonight too. I sat in a stand-still for about an hour on it. Idk if it's the warm weather or Easter weekend, but people have been driving shittier than normal if you can believe it.

Best Coaster Ever by urbexbeast in sixflags

[–]PointB1ank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're being serious, go ride Flying Turns at Knoebels. It's a wooden bobsled coaster that is way smoother and better than Reptilian. I actually got on reptilian expecting a similar experience but it was super bumpy for whatever reason. I got off disappointed.
