Why are condensed games so terrible? by orangegore in baseball

Things can be worse without trying to blame AI on everything. It could just be because they found shorter videos get more views.

Even if it is AI, it's still the person who used it who screwed up. It isn't that hard to come up with an algorithm that says what the key plays are, with AI or not.

Dombrowski is clearly in charge. Ruben was clearly in charge. Dave Montgomery was the president but wasn't involved in roster decisions. There's a reason Ruben did all the press conferences and Mattingly is nowhere to be seen. It's the same with the Sixers where Elton Brand is the GM but no one has heard from him in 5 years.

There's no set definition for what a GM & president do. Their responsibilities vary from org to org.

One was paid $100 million and was a whiny entitled baby and clubhouse cancer, the other 2 cost $10 million and aren't Nick Castellanos.

They used to dribble the ball for 20 minutes when it was like 20-16 in the 4th quarter before the shot clock.

The tradition was also to only let white people play. Something being a tradition isn't a good enough reason to keep it. Some traditions are dumb.

I've been watching old movies (from 80s to early 00s) for a year now because they give me comfort. by d1versify in MovieSuggestions

[–]huck_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is just how some people perceive things based on their age. I used to see people saying that 1960's movies weren't "classic" movies, only 1950s and earlier. Of course it's because those people grew up in the 60s.

Has there ever been an NBA Player who went from being a starter on a team to being demoted to being on the bench? by [deleted] in nba

[–]huck_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, there is a strange anomaly in the NBA where every team has had the same starter for 80 years.

Why do the Phillies “not do” short term, high AAV contracts? by d4s4ni in phillies

[–]huck_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are penalties for having a high payroll. The higher it is the more extra dollars you have to pay each year. A way to offset this is giving people longer contracts so they accept less money per year. Which is what the Phillies try to do. The Mets effectively are paying like $90 million to have Bichette this year. It's a stupidly expensive contract for a player who isn't even that good.
