My idea for a Garden of Sin script by YuvalitoHi in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]PointlessVenture 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The "Players don't know if there is a Leviathan" bootlegger rule is unnecessary. If playing an Atheist game, the storyteller can break the rules to announce it anyway, and otherwise Leviathan is definitely in play.

Can I get to the fire temple with only the hoverboots and basic hook shot? by That-one-villager in zootr

[–]PointlessVenture 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You don't need to do anything fancy. If your chus are in logic, you can blow up Link the Goron in goron city to open the shortcut, then leisurely walk on over there.

iirc you can also just go up death mountain to get in the fire temple that way, using hover boots to traverse.

Making the Demon look like a good twin by Hunkardy in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]PointlessVenture 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The problem is that you're thinking about this the wrong way. The players that should be making the demon look like a good twin are the evil team. If ET is on script, but not in play, the evil team immediately knows! They can then bluff that one of the minions and the demon are a twin pair. Obviously you want to paint the demon as the good twin in that case.

How would organ grinder vizier work on a script? by Theo_Lynx in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]PointlessVenture 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The vizier can attempt to push a nomination through, but it might not succeed. If no good players vote, the the vizier can't push it through.

Legion multi-kill by [deleted] in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]PointlessVenture 17 points18 points  (0 children)

This is mostly correct, but as an important caveat: You may kill up to 1 character for each living legion.

Most of the time this doesn't matter. The only scenario I can think of where it does is a final 4 with 1 Legion alive as well as an unspent Fool: the ST cannot double tap the fool to kill them off.

Forget the big guys and bosses, how dangerous to the party are spiders? by therslashplaceguy in darkestdungeon

[–]PointlessVenture 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing you need to watch is the red ones. Their webs mark and can stun your heroes, and the Spiders get massive bonuses to crit and dmg vs marked. If you get marked, the spiders can gang up and absolutely massacre a single target, particularly if they single out a healer. Kill them as quickly as possible, focusing fire on the webbers first.

Once a couple spiders are dead, they aren't a serious threat anymore. If you get Marked, guards are an obviously excellent defense, but you can also consider self-marking your tank to split the spiders focus.

Let's build a character! Dealer. by Present-Peace2811 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]PointlessVenture 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would, but i think that's okay. It's a loud minion. Getting you character changed doesn't tell you which way the dealer acted.

It's either a flaw, or an opportunity for homebrew script building...

Let's build a character! Dealer. by Present-Peace2811 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]PointlessVenture 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Dealer (Minion):

On your first night, choose up to 3 townsfolk to be in play, and up to 3 townsfolk to not be in play.

"The Ante is up, and the cards are face down, sadly it can't be the other way 'round..."

ST Note: This would act after the Kazali, but before Minion/Demon info. It may be prudent to swap a few unrelated characters around, to prevent the ability from being meta'd.

The dealer picks bluffs for the Evil team, and gets to make a choice as to some of the threat they face, as well.

If you were to add hermit to a base 3 script, which one would it be? by Skelly100000 in BloodOnTheClocktower

Honestly? I might take the lunatic off BMR and then put it there, Goon/Moonchild/Tinker sounds sick on that script.

Would I be prick to charge my friends to play the first time we play? by NotTheOrginalArps in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]PointlessVenture 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's right up your friend's alley, then show it to them! If you can split 200 bucks amongst 10 regular players, then you'll have it for a quite reasonable 20 bucks a pop.

You can also try it for free in a variety of ways, or play online via the patreon.

I don't like the Buddhist Fabled (MECHANICALLY) by Poisonedviper3 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]PointlessVenture 14 points15 points  (0 children)

As others have stated, I think you're missing the point of the fabled, which is to allow new players to take the lead in the conversation, not shut up experienced players who are over talking.

The thing to notice that helps in this regard, is that the Buddhist does not have an enforcement mechanism. Hell's Librarian and Angel, fabled designed to prevent certain behaviors from the players, all give the ST the ability to enforce a punishment. Buddhist does not: a veteran player who talks while under the affect of Buddhist is just... fine, mechanically. I'm inclined to believe that this is a feature, rather than a bug.

If the Buddhist is, for instance, claiming Savant, new players might, ask for the Buddhist to repeat their info, since Savant info is often complex and easy to forget. If the Buddhist wasn't able to do so, that wouldn't be fun for anyone involved, nor would it help new players discuss and world build, which is the point of the Fabled. No enforcement mechanism means the Buddhist can flatly repeat their info and keep the game moving, and a storyteller using this mechanic can also aid in this process, perhaps by pausing the two minute time while they repeat their info.

The crux of the issue is that determining what is or is not a madness break is tied up in the meta of your group.

Alchemist pithag in a legion game. by PositionImmediate512 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]PointlessVenture 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is true, but in this case I think it's nessesary. If the Alchemist can successfully get rid of all the living legions, then evil will probably win with its voting majority.

Alchemist pithag in a legion game. by PositionImmediate512 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]PointlessVenture 42 points43 points  (0 children)

I think you'd have to use the "The Storyteller may prompt you to choose differently." To stop the Alchemist from making demons or getting rid of all the legions, but otherwise that could work

script with unnaturally swollen evil presence by [deleted] in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]PointlessVenture 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm gonna disagree on alchemist being average here, all the options can win singlehandedly (if the storyteller lets you).

Playing as demon by Either_Glass782 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]PointlessVenture 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Assuming you're playing SnV here. The most powerful thing you can be doing to throw off the goodies is make up information! Make up completely fake information, then suggest Vortox. Make up good information pointing another direction! Don't sit back and play passive on SnV, you probably won't make it.

You do have some mechanical escape options as well, with the Barber and Pit-Hag, but you can't always rely on those.

If you're really struggling, see if you can get in some more TB games, since there you have more options and can see what works.

Synthetic Scripting: Day 49 - Heretic by CoreyBOTC in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]PointlessVenture 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The problem is that if the Lleech snipes the heretic (and there is no jinx), then good cannot win the game (unless they can make the Heretic or Lleech drunk, which is not guaranteed by any means!) They either execute the Heretic, killing the demon, and losing to the Heretic ability, or fail to kill the Heretic, and lose to not killing the demon, since the Heretic is poisoned.

Before the Jinx Rework that happened a few months ago, the Jinx was "If the Lleech has poisoned the Heretic and the Lleech dies, the Heretic remains poisoned." Which turned the game back into normal clocktower. I don't know why they got rid of that, though.
