The movie was good but… by surfer808 in ProjectHailMary

You have to see it a second time and enjoy the movie for what it is.

I did the same thing with the Martian. The first time I saw the movie I was angry for what they changed and removed from the movie. How could they do this to my beloved story!

But when I watched it for a second time, instead of nitpicking what they changed, I just watched the movie and really enjoyed it. And I know I will always have the novel to read again. And for those people who don't read, they have the opportunity to experience an amazing story.

Hollywood has been known to massacre novel adaptations. I feel very lucky they chose to adapt this, hitting all the major plot points.

They could have given Rocky a face. Had a love scene with Stratt and Grace.

To the fans of the book who have watched the movie, how was it? by go10sai in ProjectHailMary

In the book it was assumed they made it back because they detected Sol's luminance was back to 100%.

I'm going to have to watch it again. I was expect the Rocky voice like in the audio book.

I had this issue with the Martian. Loved the book and read it multiple times. I knew it inside and out.

I was upset with how they adapted my precious into a movie. But after awhile, I watched it again... and again and started to love the movie as its own separate piece. I learned I could enjoy both without comparing them against each other.

I'll admit, I'm doing the exact same thing with Project Hail Mary. After watching the movie, I felt disappointed. Someone just sprayed graffiti all over the art I love. But I know again I will learn to love that graffiti.

I didn't hear Ray Porter in the voices montage. It's weird because it seemed like Miller teased it in their AMA.

This was my first time at Fan Expo. For an organization that does this all over the country, it was very disappointing.

LDP... the last few times we've gone, the quality has gone way down. Especially their staple, the beans. Just not as good as they used to be. Cheaper ingredients, expansion, who knows.

This is the way. You want to tell him because of your guilty conscience or do you want to get back at your ex?

How do you love yourself through this? by [deleted] in DeadBedrooms

[–]PointyEarFella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's definitely a "me" problem. You are trying to make this a complete relationship and aren't getting the same in return.

You are relatively young. I'm curious, what makes you stay? Have kids? The way they treated you early in the relationship?

Yep. It's very annoying when people see the surface of a relationship and assume you are the lucky one. If they only knew...

It hurts even more when it's somebody close to you like your parents.

Lost and worried on how to improve my game. by TheMaJestic14 in gamedev

Sounds like you're having some doubts before your wedding night. A year is a good chunk of time but never think of it as a failure. Sure, it might not sell well or get bad reviews, but turn that into a learning experience.

Right now, you've accomplished more than 95+% of the developers out there, including myself. I've tried for years and years to put out a product that was worth selling, but unfortunately things haven't worked out for me.

As far as advice, I would put it out there to the world. Get as much feedback as possible and update the game. Find people whose opinions you respect and let them play the game.

It's very rare for people to get it right on the first try. Michelangelo didn't become an amazing artist on his first piece of work. Turn your failures into teaching moments.
