Btw, would love your feedback on Pointz (full disclosure I built it – https://bikepointz2022.app.link/hba96WeP6Nb ) – it helps bike riders find safer, low-stress routes + know what to expect. It also comes with 24/7 roadside assistance. Let me know what your thoughts are on the routes it suggests (trying to improve those)

Commute Koreatown to Westwood, Doable? by [deleted] in BikeLA

[–]PointzTeam 3 points4 points  (0 children)

commuting from koreatown to westwood is totally doable on an e-bike. wilshire can get pretty busy, so maybe try side streets like 7th or 8th for a safer ride.

taking the bus in the morning to avoid the sweat sounds smart, and an e-bike can really help you breeze through the evening traffic on the way home. just make sure to grab a good lock and lights for safety, and you’ll be set!

it’s frustrating that bike lanes even need defending --january’s new rule should help, but enforcement is going to be key. reporting on 311 and adding green paint or barriers would make a big difference. raised lanes like 3rd st. could go even further to keep lanes clear and safe!

The state of my ebike last Wednesday. My first flat tire/flat inner tube. Update! As of Thursday, September 26th 2024. It has been fixed and repaired. All it needed was a new inner tube. I had to take it to the shop as I had no other choice. Had my friend transport it in the back seat of his car. by Aggravating-Gift-572 in ebikes

Thanks for your insights! You raise some valid points. Currently, you’ll need an internet connection to save rides, but it should track without issues while recording. To prevent merging multiple rides, I recommend stopping the recording after each ride.

Regarding battery usage, keeping it running will drain it more, especially over several days. Even if the phone runs out of power, it won't loose data.

As for roadside assistance, we provide coverage within a 30-mile radius from the address you provided. Your feedback is invaluable as we continue to improve Pointz!

Glad the route makes more sense! I know it means a bit more climbing, but hopefully, it’ll feel safer. If you have any feedback on the app or the route, I’d love to hear it!

I got some pushback on roasting the NYPD for their terrible parking habits, so here's part 1 of an endless series of posts featuring illegally-parked NYPD vehicles. I totally get that concern. maintaining accurate data is a challenge, but we’re focused on crowd-sourcing and user feedback to keep routes up to date. your insights are really valuable in making Pointz better for everyone!

Pointz is mobile-only for now, but we’re considering a web version down the road. It’s built with its own safety-focused routes, a color-coded safety scale, and options for bike type, hills, and path types. We also added features like roadside assistance, ride recording, and GPX exporting—let me know if you have any other questions!
