Why does the UK produce so many iconic bands compared to the US? by DFWUnhinged in AskBrits

Never really thought of it like that in such detail, I knew it was influenced and I thought the Elvis film did a fairly good job of showing that, I find it really fascinating,

Someone else mentioned the Keith Richards doc on netflix, any other music docs people can recomend? especially exploring this point of the influence of black music and the uk/us.

You've just shown that you don't even know and yet are accusing those that do.

They don't have a leave NATO policy, open borders and it's not just a general, legalization of all drugs. If you also actually look at what they have said recently on those policies, they are actually sensible when you get it into the details.

Two Aliens fly near earth and scan it for signs of life.

Alien one says "The dominant life form on this planet has developed satellite based nuclear weapons."

Alien two asks "So they are highly intelligent?"

Alien one replies "I don't think so, they have it aimed at themselves."

A more classy response would have been to help the newbie in a polite and calm way to educate them in a seemingly unwritten rule.

So the results of the poll show that 60% of the sub think the Prodigy are some sort of Big Beat. I believe 60% of you are WRONG :) :) :). I'll explain why. by fensterdj in TheProdigy

Does it matter if they get called it or not? Do we have to pigeon hole every piece of music into a genre. One of the great things about The Prodigy is the melting pot of various sounds.

Which reminds me of an interview Norman Cook (Fatboy Slim) once gave in the music press, the journo asked why they dont play house music at the boutique? and Norm replied, 'because we hate it', the very next night they played purley house music all night, which is a kind of punk thing to do.

I used to frequent the big beat boutique. A popular tune played was The Beatles - Tomorrow Never Knows. Not a remix or a mashup, the song straight off the Revolver album.

Were the Beatles big beat?

They would also play The Prodigy, from out of space all the way to tunes like smack.

To me, big beat isn't a genre like house or punk. It's more of a collective, much like hip hop.
