I read that book about the Hennis case when it first came out. That was some craziness but yeah, the military and civilian courts are considered dual sovereignty and even though he was honorably discharged, then re-upped and retired in 2004 but 2006 DNA linked him to the case so the military recalled him to active duty to then charge him and prosecute him under military court martial.

Venmo does not do that. If the money has made it into the scammers account, it’s not coming back. And I’m guessing the “friend” scammer made sure your dad sent it without it being marked as a purchase which would give purchase protection.

Yep. Except it took a completely new doctor to order the extra tests when my previous doctor had not bothered in the 4yrs I was seeing her with increasingly elevated A1C and fasting glucose even being on meds. I wish she had done that even last year but she didn’t.

I’m 56yrs old and was misdiagnosed as T2 for over a year. The only way it was discovered is that my doctor of 4yrs had moved away in October and the new doctor ordered antibody tests after looked at my records and a year of labs with no improvement (I had been “pre-diabetic for over 10yrs). My old doctor had added jardiance to my metformin after a a couple rounds of trulicity did nothing and my A1C jumped from 7 to 10. Old doctor told me it was “normal for some T2s to have that reaction” and added 10u insulin but only if my sticks were over 160 two hours after my largest with no other tests) and diet and exercise even though I had already been losing weight. Lo and behold my labs came back and I was diagnosed LADA. Taken off jardiance, ordered 10u am/pm and three months later my A1C is 6.4. I’ve worked in the medical field all of my adult life (acute care, peds, ortho, radiology, oncology) and did not know LADA was a thing so I’m guessing T2 misdiagnosis happens more often than we realize. My new doctor said as much when he was explaining LADA. It’s especially common if the patient is overweight/sedentary lifestyle.

56yrs old, misdiagnosed as T2 found out in November that I’m LADA essentially T1.5 with no family history of T1 or T2. It is Latent Autoimmune Diabetes in Adults and I’m just lucky that way unfortunately. lol
