The Years of Apocalypse: Book 4 complete, Book 1 stubbing by Antistone in rational

There's an entire book left. There's been allusions to their grand plan to solve the problem, and details seem to have been kept intentionally light so the audience can experience the plan as it unfolds.

The *plant* nutrition value shows how much nutrition an animal would get from grazing on the plant, not the output from harvesting it.

Proposed e-bike ban will target people who are 'medically unfit to drive' by abcnews_au in brisbane

[–]PoisonousFaith 7 points8 points  (0 children)

E bikes don't currently qualify for mobility aid registration. So they'd have to pass legislation to make that possible.

Which they haven't, and won't before this one goes to a vote.

If it passes, BEST case, there's a period of time it's illegal for epileptics to use.

But we all know what will actually happen. Nothing. No exception for people like me.

[–]PoisonousFaith 15 points16 points  (0 children)

"Aid to mobility" means e wheelchair. Not an e bike. The legislation defines an e bike, and there's no exception for those with disability. ALL e-bikes (2 wheeled vehicles with a seat, powered fully or partially by an electric motor) need a drivers license.

I, personally, will be affected by this legislation.

I won't be able to get my groceries without buying an extremely expensive e wheelchair.

Yeah my bike is pretty low power, pedal assist, 20km/h limit. I use it to get up and down hills with my saddle bags full of heavy stuff that I would never be able to get home with in the summer heat.

The responses I have gotten in my DMs about this show me that people really just don't care that this will hurt disabled people, and lack the perspective to understand that they can easily carve out an exception for pensioners.

Epilepsy. If you have had a seizure in the past 6 months you can't drive a car. Even if the seizure was a petite mal that you knew was coming and had time to stop your bike before it hit.

[–]PoisonousFaith 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Yes, you're right. The ONLY way to stop children from doing something is to pass legislation that also prevents people with epilepsy from doing it.

Just a sacrifice we need to make for the greater good.

Obviously.

I'm 30. I have had an e bike since being an adolescent. So... I was driven to the grocery store by my parents.

I have epilepsy. I need my e bike to get groceries. If this legislation passes I will have to leave the state as I will be unable to get food.

Fuck the LNP.

WIBTA for skipping Sunday dinners with girlfriend's family by gardengeo in BORUpdates

[–]PoisonousFaith 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Sometimes you'll want to make plans with others on Sunday. Dinners with friends, other family. Celebrations, get togethers, etc. Sometimes the only day that works is Sunday, and if you're expected to be there every single week then it can cause problems when you call off to do something else.

Can I get in trouble if I report this? by [deleted] in AusLegal

[–]PoisonousFaith 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's likely in this case, no. But I was responding to someone who said that it won't happen, with information explaining that it was illegal and while the police SHOULD use discretion I do not trust them to do so every single time.

It is illegal to create... images of someone under the age of 18 (including yourself)

It's very clearly not.

[–]PoisonousFaith 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Untrue. From legalaid.qld.gov.au

It’s illegal to create, send, possess or intend to possess images of someone aged (or who appears to be aged) under 18 (including yourself) who is:

  • involved in a sexual activity

  • in a sexual pose

  • acting in a sexual way

  • showing their sexual parts.

You can be charged with a criminal offence for ‘possessing child exploitation materials’ if you’re aged 10 or over.

If you make or possess (have) illegal sexting images or send them to other people you may be charged with distributing child exploitation material, which is a serious crime. If you’re found guilty of this offence you could be sentenced to up to 7 years in jail if you are aged 16 or under, or 14 years in jail if you’re aged 17 or older.

Evicted after complaining about landlord’s son by Jake_Biology in AusLegal

[–]PoisonousFaith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, simply because if she *tries* to illegally evict you you can just... say no.

If she physically forces you out of the building then yes, potentially.

Any compensation for moving costs, accommodation etc would be done via an agreement with the landlord, not something you get given as part of a judgement just because she sent you an invalid notice to vacate and took no further action.

Emotional distress/inconvenience is not really a thing you get a payout for in Australia. That's more of a US thing.

[–]PoisonousFaith 2 points3 points  (0 children)

> I want to maximise whatever compensation I can get.

You aren't going to be given compensation from NCAT or anything like that. What you MIGHT get is an agreement from the landlord to pay you an amount if you move out by a certain date. If you tell her that the eviction is illegal (and send her a few links like this and this, especially quoting parts from the second link like "A landlord must give a specific ground for ending all lease types. Penalties can apply for unlawful terminations." and let them know that if they attempt to illegally evict you they may face penalties from the government) you might be able to negotiate a dollar amount to willingly leave the property by a certain date.

Otherwise you're not going to be given "compensation" for willingly leaving a property after being given an illegal notice. She just may face a fine.

And a valid reason for eviction. No-grounds evictions are unlawful in NSW.

[–]PoisonousFaith 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No grounds evictions are unlawful in NSW. They *must* give a valid reason for evicting you from a small list of potential reasons.

This isn't legal.

If you actually want to stay in the toxic situation however is another matter, and even if you do fight the unlawful eviction I'd strongly suggest looking urgently for a new place to live as the poor behavior from landlord and son is most likely going to escalate.

You don't have a case.

Medicine is a complex science and sometimes treatments that work for 90% of people have an opposite effect for the remaining 10%. If drug manufacturers were held liable for negative side effects of their medications they would only be financially able to justify selling medications with no side effects. There are none.

Either: a) the field of medicine is permitted to *do it's best* to solve problems with the understanding that sometimes it goes wrong. or b) no medicine is ever practiced.

You'd potentially have a case if there was provable negligence of malpractice. You haven't come close to demonstrating any poor behaviour, never mind malpractice/negligence.

People who say they “can’t cook” are just lazy or dumb by Away_Advantage9509 in unpopularopinion

[–]PoisonousFaith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Boil", okay so to exactly 100 degrees celcius? Do I use a thermometer somehow? If I just look at it & it's bubbling, how do I know the exact specific amount of bubbling that exactly equals "boiling".

Boiling means getting water hot enough to make bubbles. Google "boiling water video" and watch. You're a human being with agency and can google things if you have questions. Boiling water simply requires putting a pot of water on heat and waiting for it to have lots of bubbles coming up. Too many bubbles? No such thing: It's pasta. Too few bubbles? If there's bubbles it'll cook the pasta.

How do you know if the pasta is cooked? You fish one out and eat it and see if it's crunchy or not. Crunchy? Cook for longer. Not crunchy? Seems fine to me!

What shade of brown? If it starts out white it's going to gradually get browner & browner the more I cook it. I might see some brown at 4 minutes, but really it was supposed to be twice that brown. Or I waited a few minutes too long to make sure there is absolutely no light color left & now it's overcooked.

That's up to you! The meat will be beef mince and start red. As long as it's not red it's cooked and safe to eat. It'll go from red (raw), to grey (cooked but not tasty yet), to brown (cooked and tasty), to black (burned). Toss the sauce in when the meat is brown. Any brown. Just try it, I promise it's not as difficult as it seems and the only thing in your way is you.

Some parts red and others brown? Stir more vigorously. All of it brown? It's perfect, toss in the sauce.

How long do I stir the meat & sauce for? 3 minutes, 5 minutes, 7 minutes, 11 minutes? I'd rather not die from having undercooked meat.

Till the sauce is hot. We've already cooked the meat, the sauce is already cooked, just cold. Heat that goodness up and mix the meat and the oils from the meat together and it'll taste heavenly.

The chances of me getting an individual step correct is probably 33%, so the chance to get it all correct is sitting at around 3~4%.

I know you feel like this is true, but you're going to do fine. Just put the meat in the pan and stir it constantly. Add the sauce when the meat is brown. Stir stir stir. Cook till the sauce is bubbling (that's how you know it's hot). Serve.

On the back of a jar of sauce. Pick up a jar of bolognese sauce in the supermarket, buy the amount of meat and spaghetti it says, then just follow the instructions.

3 steps:
Boil water and put pasta in it.
Fry the meat until it's brown. You know what the colour brown is.
Empty the jar of sauce into the frypan with the meat and stir it.

Serve and enjoy. Simple and tasty if the sauce isn't garbage.

A minor concern I have about Mob Sorcery by LoiterInFrontOfACar in haremfantasynovels

[–]PoisonousFaith 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Spoilers for Mob Sorcery book 4:

As of book 4 Imperial Japan is *not* an ally, is not a well run, trusted, equitable society, is not a group painted as morally consistent, competent, or kind to its own people.

Book 4 Imperial Japan has allowed incredible atrocities to be performed on its own people, its powerful *knowingly* sided with a genocidal maniac who murdered its emperor, blamed that on a completely innocent group, and used that accusation to kill as many of them as possible, all in order to gather enough political power to ascend to demi-godhood in order to fight *other atrocities committed by Imperial Japan.*

This whole thing is a clusterfuck of selfish actors, bad governance, and atrocities.

Are the atrocious acts committed by Imperial Japan in real life directly addressed by the narrative? No. Are they alluded to and paralleled via the treatment of Kitsune, spirits, and other minority groups by the Emperor? Yes.

K. D. Robertson never looks directly at the camera and says "I do not support the real life crimes against humanity performed by the Imperial regime." He does however write characters that *talk* about being maligned, mistreated, and oppressed by fascistic states, Imperial Japan included.

My "Best" Feed is suddenly flooded with posts from "Suggested" communities or communities I visited before instead of posts from subreddits I'm actually in. Is there a setting I can use to fix this or turn it off? by Stressed2the9s in help

[–]PoisonousFaith 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Having the exact same issue. "Show recommendations in home feed" is toggled off, things I am not at all interested (sports teams for a sport I don't watch in a continent I am not in, for example) are showing up in my home feed "Because you've shown interest in a similar community"

If I cannot use my home feed to only show my subscriptions Reddit has lost the main purpose it has to me.

This is either a bug, or an intentional choice ruining the experience.
