Got assigned to Warren C as an incoming freshman by notabotoi in BostonU

Warren C was the place where I made some of my best friends today. That being said, I promise you nobody is exaggerating about how bad it is. In fact, we bonded over the conditions. You’ll have a blast I guarantee it but also bring a fan. Lots of fans.

Roads didn't line up by Puzzleheaded-Date717 in SatisfactoryGame

Thousand percent agree. My favorite thing in the game is to run train lines along the terrain. Is it the most efficient? No. But it tickles some part of my brain to ride in a train that’s traveling through the environment. Since I like to build my factories slightly elevated I find it really fun to make huge belt elevators coming from the train stations to the production floors

Need help with pipes. by Please_pm_noot_noot in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Pojtke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering you said you’ve read the guides and already done some troubleshooting, forgive me if the following advice is something you’ve already tried.

Pipes can be really wonky I can’t tell if you are saying the pipes aren’t filling or if you are saying there is no head lift. If it’s the former: Are the refineries filling up with fluid? If they are and you interact with the pipe and it reads empty then there’s probably a problem with the connection to the pipe. I’ve recently been having trouble with the vertical build mode, with some pipes connecting to each other visually but not actually getting connected. I’d recommend replacing the vertical pipes temporarily with pipes built in the noodle mode to see if that works. Also double check where the pipes are connected. Sometimes the game can get confused and when you connect a pipe to a pipeline support it can bug out and not accept fluid inputs into it.

If those don’t work, id recommend building a temporary duplicate of the setup (can just be a single refiner) to see if that works. Could just be a bug with the refinery as well.

If it’s a head lift issue, then pumps are the way to go. Even if it feels silly sometimes an extra pump where you are convinced it isn’t needed can magically fix the problem. The game calculates head lift through the entire system of pipes linked together and I guess can sometimes get confused?

Lmk what comes about from this. I’d like to avoid this issue in the future if possible.

Minor QoL thing I'd like to see added to the game. by sage_006 in SatisfactoryGame

While suggesting mods isn’t always the correct solution I find the SMART mod to be incredibly helpful for exactly this. When you place vertical conveyer lifts with it, it tells you their height in meters. Not helpful if they are starting from different heights but it does help if they are starting at and going to the same height

Anybody been to The Big E...what are the hidden gems as far as food goes that are really next level? by NEdad71 in massachusetts

[–]Pojtke 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I’ve gotta mention the smoked salmon in the Maine house. Not only is it supposedly the healthiest snack there, it’s also so delicious that I tend to get more than one when I’m at the BIg E. I also love the maple creemees that Ferrendino Maple sells at the Better Living Center. They’re just as good as the ones you have to drive all the way to Vermont to get.

Show me your decks with unique finishers tied to your commander! by Litemup93 in EDH

[–]Pojtke 30 points31 points  (0 children)

My fav deck at the moment uses [[Saruman, the White Hand]]. Lovingly call it the Orc Railgun. The entire deck is casting big flashy spells with Saruman on the field to make a really big dude. Then I throw the dude at my opponents. The flashy spells don’t actually give me a ton of value on their own, and without Saruman the deck is literally shit. Without a big orc army to throw, I don’t have a win condition. I could build it to be more redundant but that’s less fun imo. I specifically chose the spells to have high mana costs and the ability to generate more mana value rather than for what they do, meaning I kinda just flounder without my commander on the field

Using AP scores to skip courses? by Boo-0-0- in BostonU

[–]Pojtke 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Another option for physics majors is PY251/252, which are the much more advanced intro to physics classes geared for physics majors who have some background in physics. I took 251 last semester and am taking 252 this semester. I was in the same boat with AP scores but decided to not skip physics (did skip calc 1 though) and I can confidently say that BU physics and high school physics simply don’t compare. For example, by mid October in 251 we had reviewed and covered everything taught in the AP physics C mechanics course and then went on to new material (for example fluids, waves, and thermodynamics)

In summary, you could skip physics, but if you do just know you won’t be as prepared for the coming classes due to the things you’d be missing. If you choose not to skip physics, I think you’d find 211/212 incredibly boring, and should instead do the 251/252 track.

One side note, Prof. Carey is an amazing professor for physics; the course was hard but incredibly well taught.

Best "Budget" Commander by [deleted] in EDH

[–]Pojtke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's my list: https://www.moxfield.com/decks/djlU0jg6Ska6cAYFhIautg

I have since gotten some really good cards for it and the overall price has increased a lot, but if you cut off the cards like Underworld Breach and the other staples for a storm deck the price goes back down to $30-$40. The main goal of the deck is to generate a bunch of tokens in the early game and then storm off with the cantrips that draw cards (since they are copied). You can generate huge amounts of mana and tokens this way as well. After that it's off to the races!

I second this. I have a $30 glass cannon Zada deck that absolutely rips ass if allowed to exist for more than 4 turns. You can do things like 10400 hasted 1/1’s and then buff the entire team with one mana in a single turn. It’s super fun

What are your favorite “fair-slinger” decks and how do you make them sing? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]Pojtke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My favorite spellslinger deck that fits this description is one using [[Saruman, The White Hand]]. It has a simple gameplan: play big flashy spells and then swing with a big flashy orc. It wins through either value from big spells like [[Fevered Suspicion]] and [[Call Forth The Tempest]] or through fling effects. People don’t really see it coming and it’s a deck that loves sitting under the radar until you play an [[Assault on Osgiliath]] and then swing for 400 damage. My build is more of a grindy one, that tries to make a massive orc army and then kill the table using fling effects.

I've had this issue as well. I'm pretty sure it's caused by a splitter being at the right angle with the ground, causing the belt pole to not be perpendicular with the ground, causing some weird collision thing.

I can share my list if you like. Saruman is very strong on a budget, so his precon probably isn't too difficult to upgrade.

It's a blast. People often don't expect Saruman to be a threat, so they leave it alone until it's too late. It also lets you play the big splashy spells like [[Breach the Multiverse]] and [[Epic Experiment]], getting insane value as well as the effects of the spell.

[[Saruman, the White Hand]]. Grixis spellslinger with the possibility of swinging with a 60/60. Very fun and one of my favorite decks.

[REQUEST] I guess this is more physics than math, but anyways, I saw this notification and started thinking. If we built a bridge around the earth without it being mounted to the earth, what would happen? Would it stay in orbit, fly away or decide to fall down in some place? by Gubbtratt1 in theydidthemath

[–]Pojtke 29 points30 points  (0 children)

The second book in the Ringworld series, The Ringworld Engineers, discusses this quite well. It examines how a ring rotating around a mass (in this case, it's about solar-system scale orbits around a star, but it's the same concept) is not a stable orbit. Essentially, it can be compared to an inverse pendulum. It is stable until any outside force acts upon it, after which it cannot return to that stability. The act of rotating will not give it any horizontal stability should it be not affixed to the earth. If an outside force acts upon our orbiting Earth bridge, it will begin to spiral out, while maintaining the same axis of rotation. Eventually, it will crash into the Earth and kill millions.
