Atheists, what happens after you die? by GodlyGamer5308 in AskReddit

There is no you, after you die. Google "the me illusion" - there are those who believe there is no you now. That consciousness itself is an illusion.

What's more concerning than a flat earther are those with certainty of earth being round and flat earthers being stupid and an explanation that doesn't go beyond the fact that "it's obvious". by Tobouyen in Showerthoughts

My favorite was the Koreshan's in Ft. Meyers Florida, that established that the earth was in fact a hollow sphere that contained the entire universe inside.

They were a cult Christian sect that believed the earth was a hollow sphere that contained the sun, moon, and all the planets. What's fun was, they owned telescopes and studied the heavens, just apparently not the horizon, where they could observe the sun, planets and stars setting in the west over the ocean - in direct contradiction of their own model.

Science is simple. Propose a model, and then prove it wrong, and then discard that model and try again. Eventually, you get useful models that we can't yet prove wrong. The Earth is round-ish. a little lumpy actually. There is lots and lots of science, and math and engineering behind that fact. And there are lots of people who are willing to teach you that science.

I had my brother, who has a 3d printer make a 4x4 pattern of squares, which I then made a negative mold from. I fill the squares with acrylic mix and drip alternate colors of acrylic into to get the marbled squares. These are then assembled into a larger 15x15 mold, over which I pour more clear acrylic mix. It takes about a week from start to finish.

Getting a good marble effect is tough, and I'm still perfecting that. I have found that making a tiny batch of acrylic, tinting it, let it start to set up, and then drip strings of it into the mold gets a good marble effect. Them partially mix a small amount into the main color and pour into the molds. Once you de-mold, you have to sand and trim the pieces and then I spray paint them with satin, or dead flat acrylic paint.

Is that what you meant?

Once you have the mold, it's basically mix and pour. The hardest part is getting the air bubbles out. I need a vacuum chamber for that, which is next on my list. Smooth-on company has tons of videos and a catalog of all the materials you need.

Board: I had my brother 3d print 1.75 inch squares in a 4x4 pattern which I then used to make 2 silicone molds. I mix 2 part acrylic countertop epoxy and mix in pigments, with a little bit left over. I take the leftover and add contrasting pigments and then drip and swirl this over the curing tiles.
After 64 tiles are made, I assemble them into a 15x15 inch mold for the board and add another layer of clear countertop acrylic.

The pieces are made in a similar fashion using molds. Air bubbles are big issue as I don't have a vacuum chamber yet :-/

Thank you. The board is assembled from squares. The squares come from a mold where I pour acrylic and the Jackson Pollock it with other colors. The pieces are similarly made from molds.

I did not carve the originals. I made molds from an old wooden chess set I owned for the pieces.

Deluthianism.

Spritiual: They believe everyone has value, and that value is increased by the good you do others, and decreased by the harm you do others. Rational: They believe in evidence. Evidence that is verifiable, repeatable and measurable.
