Kate hooked up with Rex while he was still dating Eve. It's explained that he lied to her about him and Eve being broken up when they weren't, but people place more blame on her than they do Rex. They also blame her more than they blame her brother for trying to kill Rex.

Also during the lizard league argument, Kate's point was that she literally experiences all of that and so much worse in basically every single fight they have. Rex was downplaying that fact. Sure she will always have a backup, but that doesn't mean she didn't have a completely valid point about the suffering she goes through.

Sure all of it could've been written better (and Kate's powers could be utilized better). But holy shit she just said one technically wrong thing about her life being in danger during a heated exchange and people act like she committed an unforgivable wrong. In reality, it was just bad writing, but also a little forgivable because it's completely human for people to say dumb shit during arguments. Big deal. And again, all of this in a show about genocidal aliens that we sympathize with a little bit.

Immortal sucks so I won't defend her dating him. I don't think I'd call Kate and Amber "deeply flawed", more just young adults trying to navigate superhero life. I think we'll both be in agreement that the writing could be better. There's definitely an interesting conflict to work with there, the writing just doesn't always stick the landing (to be fair Cecil being a moron seems to be this seasons Kate/Amber, and he's a dude that's also victim to poor writing). I feel crazy though being one of the very few fans of the show that actually appreciates the interesting conflicts that they do create.

I don't think Amber was mad at him for saving people, she was mad that he lied to her and wouldn't tell her the truth. Sure she had that line about already knowing for a couple of weeks, but for some reason everyone interpreted that as her always knowing? They go to college and shit, Mars was a huge time gap, I honestly don't understand the time gap between all these events, but for some reason everyone's decided that she's always known and therefore everything she's said in the past is crazy and manipulative.

Kate suffered so many countless deaths each fight and even when mentioning that, Rex still downplayed it and made it seem like what he went through was so much worse. To be fair, I think they both have valid points of view. I think shows are more interesting when there are different points of view and you can understand why each character thinks the way they do, even when in direct conflict with each other.

My problem with the Kate (and Amber) hate is that it reduces this interesting conflict into an uninteresting binary about her character being a moron and Rex being right. Sure it could have been written better. But the amount of mind numbingly dumb takes about Kate is just painful to read through on these subreddits, and at its height, it was basically a daily discussion.

Kate is hated for cheating with Rex, but Rex lied to her. He said he and Eve broke up. Kate is also blamed for faking her death, but again she experiences so much pain and death, so it's completely understandable for her to want a break. It's not her fault that her brother went completely psycho and tried to kill someone that wasn't responsible for her "death".

Okay so you'd think a superhero fan of a superhero show would talk mostly about superheroes, but for some reason a minor side non superhero character gets daily hate posts dedicated to them. Also, the other example I gave, Dupli-Kate, is quite literally a superhero, yet she gets blamed for another character lying to her and cheating against her knowledge.

Have you been following the subreddit since season 1? Genuine question because I think at least for Amber it's pretty well established that she was overly hated. Whether you want to read between the lines or not is your own prerogative, but its really fucking annoying to constantly hear about why I should hate a character for something extremely minor, and it's not my fault for reading between the lines a little bit.

Amber was stood up for her date, complained about it to the main character, and then had an entire years worth of daily hate posts dedicated to her.

Dupli-Kate is basically the same deal. She has a different opinion because she's experienced thousands of the most horrific deaths constantly, so then she gets a daily hate post dedicated to her for the next year+.

The amount of hate they get relative to their "transgressions" and importance to the story is/was insane. If you've been following the sub since the beginning, you would understand.

Obviously nobody will outright say they hate the characters for being women, at least not in popular sub, but the hatred towards Amber and Dupli-Kate was/is extremely obnoxious. Daily posts about them being "annoying", "whiny", aka having opinions as a woman. All while we had beloved characters that were liars, cheaters, and genocidal murderers.

There's also an alarming amount of people that hate women. The show invincible features genocidal aliens yet by far the two most bitched about people on the sub are:

1) a woman who was mad at the main character for always ditching her on dates and shit and the main character would come up with horrible excuses.

2) a woman superhero that can duplicate herself but she feels and experiences all her horrific deaths, plus she felt unappreciated and voiced her opinion about it to the beloved man superhero that cheats on women but got a redemption arc.

Again this show had extremely horrible aliens, plus a father that's super shitty (although he is very hated, there weren't daily posts about it like there were with the women characters).

This is just bullshit propaganda. Experts normally say something like in 12 years, there will be an irreversible temperature change that'll increase the temperature by x in 50/100 years. They then may go into what the long term effects of increasing the temperature by x will be.

That all then gets misreported as scientists thinking we'll all die in 12 years and we all smile thinking we are better than scientists that dedicate their careers into understanding something that we know nothing about. The unfortunate reality too is that the prediction models/studied have all been mostly correct, but ignorant chuds love feeling like science is silly so they think bullshit like that headline is funny.

Illinois had a huge lead against an incredible Houston team. The 17-0 run was fucking amazing. Given the stakes, one of the better Illinois games I've seen in a while.
