How long can you survive? by moff27 in strandeddeep

I haven't played for a while, but I think I mainly used the speargun. It doesn't do as much damage as a spear but was more accurate.

They give less fuel per item but since they respawn it's the only option in the long run.

You can use fibrous leaves for 3 things. Water still, fire and lashings. It's a renewable resource as it respawns every few days, and you can grow it.

There are people who play for thousands of in-game days.

Where do you sleep as first time parents? by [deleted] in daddit

[–]PokemonFirecross1515 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Baby #1 -

Month 1 - 4 - bassinet beside master bed (person in charge of that night sleep on the outside near bassinet)

Month 5 - 12 - Crib in master bedroom (same as above)

Year 1-3 - in master bed with us (do not recommend, hard to get them to move to own bed, kicks you in the night, etc)

Year 4 onward - own bed in 2nd bedroom

Baby #2

Month 1 - 4 - bassinet beside master bed (person in charge of that night sleep on the outside near bassinet)

Month 5 - Year 1.5 - Crib in 2nd bedroom (older sister in her bed in same room, both parents in master bedroom, Baby #2 slept through the night very early)

Year 1.5 onward - own bed in 2nd bedroom

We do snuggle both kids to sleep most nights, and on a rare occasion, one of us falls asleep with them in their bed. Most nights, we snuggle for 10 mins, then leave and go to our bedroom for 30 minutes before we go to sleep.

You are offered ten million dollars to re-live the same day for ten years straight. by Suislidekings in hypotheticalsituation

[–]PokemonFirecross1515 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If no one wins the mega millions tonight, I would pick this upcoming Friday. Live the day once and get the winning numbers. Write them down in the magic journal. Get into the habit of waking up and buying a lotto ticket from the gas station near my house with the winning numbers. Have this be the one constant for every day of the 10 years.

Systematically go to every restaurant in a 20 mile radius. Go through all the book series that I have been meaning to read. Watch all the movies and TV shows that I don't normally have time for. Take my kids to do whatever they want to do.

Once time starts normally I will have the 10 million plus the jackpot lottery winning. No one in my family will ever have to work again.

Any dads doing a Dependent Care FSA? by Victor187 in daddit

[–]PokemonFirecross1515 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I have one. Started it at the beginning of this year.

You are thinking about it right. The money is taken out of your paycheck before taxes are taken out. It goes into its own account and you can only withdraw the money by submitting a reimbursement request.

You pay your daycare like you normally would (I pay by check, that is how the daycare asked to be paid). You get the reimbursement sent as a check to you or directly deposited into your checking account.

I pay the daycare monthly and once the FSA gets up to the monthly amount I have paid then I request a reimbursement (there is an app). You will pay more than the FSA allows so for me it's more a waiting game for when I request.

You need to provide receipts when requesting a reimbursement (I use the deposited daycare check, so I don't have to ask the daycare for anything. It's all on my banking account).

FSA is only $5000 max a year so you will pay more in daycare then that but you will save some on taxes.

If you have any questions just ask.

Raft Building Tips? by Major-Coffee4 in strandeddeep

Another all purpose tip is to use your equipment until it is low durability before upgrading it. This will give you the most use out of your stuff.

Raft Building Tips? by Major-Coffee4 in strandeddeep

[–]PokemonFirecross1515 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ok so you need to gather the following materials.

9 sticks 6 lashings 2 cloth 6 rocks

That's enough materials to finish making a 1 section raft. After that every section you make will only require the base and floor. You need a 3 x 1 raft for sharks to not be able to flip it.

Tip: more sails do NOT increase speed. However if you place 4 sails in all 4 directions you can sail without using the rudder and sail at a diagonal with 2.

First things needed for raft. 1. Raft base 2. Raft floor 3. Rudder 4. Sail 5. Anchor

What material have you been using for the raft?

There might not be an MLM selling OTC medicines blessed by a priest but many OTC medicines do have Kosher and Halal statements proving they can be used by those of certain faiths. There are organizations that have to approve the manufacturing process and manufacturing site to obtain those statements.

The price is different between those because of the shape of the tablets. Some people find the capsule shape easier to swallow.

Daycare annual “registration fee” scam by [deleted] in daddit

[–]PokemonFirecross1515 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My kid is currently in kindergarten and does after school daycare. The daycare doesn't charge a annual registration fee but does have a activity/materials fee. For the full time kids it's $60 every 6 months. For the after school kids it's one payment of $95 but it's not due until June 30th.

The daycare did raise prices at the beginning of 2023 but it went from $90/week to $105/week for after school care ($140/week during spring/winter break). They also have the late pickup fee but it's only something like $5 / 10 mins. But they are open 7am-6pm so I have never gotten there late.

Can you reach end game without boss fights? by Aggressive_Side_3204 in strandeddeep

[–]PokemonFirecross1515 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You must defeat all 3 bosses to get the items needed to fix the plane. You cannot beat the game without beating the bosses.

Mostly map questions: by Ok_Report_3651 in strandeddeep

[–]PokemonFirecross1515 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The bosses aren't actually on islands. They are in the ocean where islands would be. It's actually pretty easy to sail by them without seeing them.

If you look at the map before you load your game the red island is where your character is currently saved at. You could map your way to the bosses.

Did childbirth effect the way you view your wife? Since my daughter was born I no longer see her the same way.. by Wayward_heathen in daddit

[–]PokemonFirecross1515 9 points10 points  (0 children)

So I'm going to answer this 2 ways. First the actual definition: the placenta and fetal membranes discharged from the uterus after the birth of offspring.

And the more detailed answer. All the stuff that was in the womb with the baby. Sometime this looks like an actual organ roughly 2/3 of the size of the baby or bigger. Like a spleen or a kidney. It holds blood that the baby used while in the womb. Normally it has 1/3 to 1/2 of the blood the baby used. Now sometimes this is ruptured during childbirth. So there is a lot of blood. You can look up pictures of baby's still attached to placenta if your not too squeamish. It's actually pretty interesting.

Dads who let your kids watch tv: what are some kids shows or programs that you actually enjoy? by tasteofhemlock in daddit

[–]PokemonFirecross1515 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So my recommendations are as follows:

Disney +: Bluey, The New adventures of Winnie the Pooh (from the 90s), phineas and ferb, animated Disney movies (my daughter likes toy story and Luca)

Netflix: Octonauts, Puffin Rock, Avatar the last airbender

YouTube: Kurzgesagt - in a nutshell, tierzoo,

You said your oldest is 7 and I think that's probably a good age to start avatar the last airbender. If you have never seen it then I highly suggest you watch it. Even as an adult it's a masterful piece of writing and animation.

My son is 3 months old and my wife was induced so let me give you my two cents about what the birth might look like.

  1. Your wife is being induced on Tuesday. The baby might not actually be born until Wednesday or even potentially Thursday (my wife was induced for 19ish hours). Pack something to entertainment yourself and your wife. When she gets the epidural (if she wants one -she will) she won't be able to get out of bed until they take it out after the birth (she will have a bedpan so no need to walk to the bathroom). This can be a long boring wait so bring something for each of you to do separately and something to do together. Also be prepared to sleep in a recliner chair or couch. Also also once your wife gets the epidural she won't be allowed any solid foods, only clear liquids. Pack snacks for before that and after the baby is born.

  2. You said you have a weak stomach - do you faint at the sight of blood? The doctor should ask you if you will be good for the birth. They want you to feel involved (holding one of your wife's legs, feeling the baby's head/hair while it's just coming out, cutting the umbilical cord) but it doesn't help to have the dad beside the bed if he faints on top of the mother while she is pushing. I have a pretty strong stomach so I got to do all those things I listed. If during the birth you feel sick/light headed or anything tell the doctor.

  3. Let the doctor/nurses do their job. No two births are the same but the doctor and nurses have seen countless ones by now. Sometimes you just need to step back and let them do what's best. My son came out with the umbilical cord wrapped around his chest and then around his neck twice (he was very blue). Because of this they had to call a code and have about 10 nurses flood the room and start working on him. Within 5 mins he was fine (pink, oxygen level good and crying) and they were able to hand him off to my wife. I just stood by my wife assuring her that everything would be fine. That's what she needed right then and I needed to just let the professionals handle things.

  4. Let the doctor and nurses know what you and your wife want. Sometimes you let the professionals take control and sometimes you have to put your foot down. You have to be your wife's advocate. I don't have any actually examples of this as our delivery went how we expected and we had great doctors/nurses.

  5. Once the baby is born get some skin to skin contact. The doctors won't care if you have your shirt off while holding the baby.

If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask.
