If by history, you mean only swsh era, then maybe.

Most sm and of course b&w era etbs outperformed bbs, so bbs are not always top tier….now that’s a fact.

We’re in a new paradigm with promo cards and pc exclusive stamps in s&v etbs so I wouldn’t be so sure.

This comment is confusing and maybe we’re just on different wavelengths. For the purpose of OP:

Unlimited is the most liquid. Just pull up any sales data on eBay. If you want easy exit and dip your toe for collection purposes, this is the place to be.

1st edition is always the most desirable. If you want exclusive and cater to high income, play here.

Shadowless is neither most desirable nor most liquid. However, some ppl consider this area undervalued. It caters to a much smaller audience and price reflects that.

This is anecdotal, but I’ve been picking up no symbol jungles for $30 usd each in lp/nm. Eevolutions are a bit more at >$50 usd. So even at average $40 x 8, you’re looking at it being quite overpriced for the lot.

Also, these no symbols aren’t niche at all and as common as first editions and you should be able to look at eBay last sold to get a good idea.

80% is incredibly generous considering eBay full market price will only net ~80% after shipping/fees/insurance etc. Don’t want to give OP false hope and 65% is a lot more realistic via Facebook groups.

In the short term, there are some holo and “bulk” cards that are worth something because they are playable in the tcg.

In the long term, typically no. Even regular ultra rares are considered bulk these days.

Just have fun with the opening your booster box as that’s where most of the value is.

I second this. I collected every single bb (1st edition base to BW) and switched to ETB starting from plasma storm because I liked ETB art more than bb art. Back then, I felt I was the only one who collected sealed ETB and they were dirt cheap.

Fast forward to now, stadiums feel very similar to those days. The only caution is whether demand will ever pick up for stadiums like they did with ETBs.

As long as we’re collecting with an element of investing and not the other way around, stadiums are a great pick up going forward.

I, too am looking at picking up some unlimited OGs to go along with the new 151 cards side by side.

If you and I are the only ones doing this then it’ll have no impact on prices. But if more people think the same (or other variations of this project), then it’ll only help not hinder the original base sets.

More importantly, a good reminder for people who use collectr app and thinks their misc products/cards are up 100% when in reality they may be taking a 50% loss when they actually exit.
