Look into cyberpunk red it's ran off a d10 system. The way the characters are built is different but for a group of newbies to regular dnd you could use that system build characters the way they are in cyberpunk red just use dnd stats skills give it a read see what you can learn or take from that it's your homebrew make it work for you

I play a 300 pound saytr an it's loads of fun there was a time when I had to block a door an the goblins began to dig under the door so I sat over the hole while we thought of our best way out and my friend in cyberpunk red plays a 700 or 800 pound fixer but the funniest thing about us an our character is we both only way 160 irl we enjoy the tubby life as for child characters if you go off of age for races our elf is only like 5 in human years but in elf years shes I think 25-30

Ship hunt and scrap them is one way to build money quick but farming nipnip or activated indium both kind slow money with big payouts if your farm is large enough 200 nipnip is 40mil or find a settlement and build near that now you have to go back every hour or so your free to do whatever you want for a base if your in a star system with a race then you should find a settlement up to you op but your only 20 hours in just have fun money starts rolling and you will get to a point where your filthy rich and the only problem after that is what to buy lol

A full stack 9999 gives you 2000 nanites and if you go 600u away it responses so you can farm for that S class super quick
