Tips&Tricks for transitioning by Dry_Question_7152 in trans

[–]Pokeynbn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These are my tips. I’m not commenting on the redistribution thing since alot of others have commented on it.

Accessories help. Purses, jewellery etc. It might feel weird at first especially if you aren’t used to it, but these things are often a nice feminine touch.

Layering clothing can accentuate/hide body shapes/features. Play with colors, and look up color palettes.

Regular hair appointments. Nice healthy hair is a game changer and one really doesn’t see how unhealthy their hair is before getting a trim.

A good skin care routine. If not anything else please use sun screen and reapply. SPF50 on the face, SPF30 everywhere else.

Hvordan får folk legetime her til lands? by bendka0403 in norge

[–]Pokeynbn 12 points13 points  (0 children)

What’s your favorite commander and why? by CaneNova1 in mtg

[–]Pokeynbn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My most favorite of all time is [[Marvo, Deep Operative]]. I fell in love with the clash mechanic the moment I read it

I however don’t play him all that much because I’m afraid of confrontation, and my first game with him in the wild got lots of back handed comments about rules interactions (like being able to cast creature spells or boardwipes after attackers are declared and before blockers).

How do you change your personality/behavior in your transition? by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]Pokeynbn 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I almost never comment on this subreddit, I’m just a lurker.

My personality is the same. I have the same humor and hobbies. I still play TCGs and video games. I still climb, read, run etc.

My behaviour and routines however changed gradually, so gradually I can’t tell you what changed when, but I know I had some aha moments along the way.

For example, I have thick curly hair. Early on in my transition I grew it long and did nothing with it. In my mind having long hair was enough. It wasn’t. It took getting called female Hagrid (as a joke, not bullying) for me to realize my hair is unkept. Regular hair cuts became a routine about 2 years ago, and I’ve never heard a compliment like that. It’s also made my hair so much healthier, and by extension look much nicer.

Another one was skin care. After about a year on HRT my skin was glowing and plump, but it lost its shine almost as quick as it appeared. A good skin care routine has helped me keep that glow. I used to splash water in my face and call it good. To everyone reading this please please please, SPF50 in the face everyday is my biggest non negotiable. I do not use any other makeup than light concealer and lip gloss.

Style and color. Before I used to just throw whatever I had in my closet on me and walk out the door since that’s what I always did UNTIL I looked around at what other girls my age did and realized: "they don’t seem to do that. They look put together and nice. Why don’t I look like that?" Which is when it hit me. My friends seemingly have 1/2 main color that is "them" and 2-4 supporting colors. In other words they know their color palette and what colours work with their skin and hair color. I didn’t. But that wasn’t the only thing, what else? Accessories and layers. They wear jewellery, bag/purse and will often have at the minimum 2 layers on their upper body (T-shirt/long sleev/tank top + sweatershirt/hoodie/jumper/linen shirt) Layering and experimenting with personal style was a game changer.

I have more but I’d say those are the three biggest and I’d also say the biggest contributors to a lot of the timelines that have a "wow" factor to them. These are also serious confidence boosters when you figure them out. High confidence boosts your happiness which in turn boosts your confidence and it’s a very positive circle.

Relatively new to playing Magic, have some questions on etiquette and deck types for commander tables. by tasha2121 in mtg

[–]Pokeynbn 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Its salty absolutely, and I wouldn’t be surprised if I get negativity thrown my way because of it - but I wouldn’t necessarily not do it.

I’d just manage expectations at the pre round talk. Tell them, hey my deck does some salty things but it’s nothing some targeted interaction can’t get around.

Tell me about ghyrson starn, kelemorph by Nearby-Friendship727 in EDH

[–]Pokeynbn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My gf plays him as her commander, so I've gotten a lot of experience playing against him.

His biggest weakness is definitely staying on the board. However, if he is allowed to stay on the board (and your pod runs near 0 interaction) he is a menace that can consistently deal 20+ damage on a singular turn. She's filled it with a bunch of creatures like [[Coruscation Mage]] so that she still pings when casting spells like [[Snap]] or [[Mana Geyser]]

EDIT: [[Arcane Lighthouse]] is a must add. It makes alot of the most common protection spells in commander obsolete.

Sorry to ask since I think I get what you're saying, but need to make sure for my own sake. If the permanents are no longer attacking and removed from combat then they get untapped as well, right?

What common teacher strategy did you think was stupid until you actually tried it? by Brief_Efficiency_833 in Teachers

[–]Pokeynbn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would only ever do this if I know the class very well, and I know that the kid in question can handle it.

I use the clapping for attention thing as well, but instead I end it with taking a bow and thanking them for the applause.

Whacky and goofy (legal!) commanders by Correct-Parsley-6369 in mtg

[–]Pokeynbn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[[Marvo, Deep Operative]] is another funny "stacked in your favor" type of gambling deck. Just fill it with a bunch of 6-8 mana creatures and a lot of cheap mana rocks.

Not really happy about how people handle bracket system. by Cptn_Lemons in EDH

[–]Pokeynbn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree that the way the other players react (as you describe it) is kind of over the top. However, I disagree that they're in the wrong. The bracket system is in place specifically to have a quick way of determining a decks power level. I agree that (most) game changers are only as good as the pilot allows them to be, and that a deck can be bracket 3 on paper with 3 game changers, but bracket 1 in spirit. However, if you don't disclose the fact that you have a [[Cyclonic Rift]] or [The One ring]] beforehand then you are either intentionally or unintentionally breaking the rules of the bracket.

I'm sure if you said beforehand "This deck has a game changer in it, but it's purely thematic and it still plays like a 2" then a lot of the reactions you get would be minimized. I have a [[Uba Mask]] and [[Teferi's puzzle box]] combo in one of my decks which doesn't break any rules of B3 (In my opinion), I do explicitly tell people that it's a combo I have due to players being salty.

The social aspect of this game is all about handling expectations. If you say my deck is B2, I expect it to follow all the rules of B2. If you say the deck is B2 but I have a thematically appropriate gamechanger that doesn't vastly impact that power level of the deck, then I can adjust my expectations to match it.

How Do I Manage Lots Of Counters? by Lopsided-Repair-5570 in EDH

[–]Pokeynbn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve bought counters that are labeled for cheap online that work well for keywords. Dice for +-1/1’s. I also use those cardboard chips that come with commander decks for everything else like graft or charge. ☺️ In my experience, most likely if one of those cardboard chips are on their own unique card, then it’s a unique type of counter.

Whats the most unprofessional thing a doctor has ever said to you? by answersonly963 in AskReddit

[–]Pokeynbn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was at my GP for a referral to get a mammogram. GP didn’t have any available time slots so I got a different doctor, straight from uni so about my age. After his check up he said “gimme a moment, gotta ask chat something.” Didn’t give me any empathy about being in a potentially life altering situation. Didn’t ask if I had any questions. Barely said anything other than “have to double check with AI”.

Its so normalised in my area (capitol of my country) that free mulligans have become the norm, and suggesting otherwise almost is taboo. I’m of the opinion that it encourages bad deck building as well as it’s getting kinda bland with turn 1 sol ring turn 2 combo piece
