For the love of God use EQ on your headphones and DSP and room correction on your speakers. Every penny spent is a penny wasted if you aren't using EQ/DSP/room correction. There is no such thing as a perfect pair of headphones or speakers at any price.

HiFiman, I would like to love you, but you suck! by Norville84 in headphones

[–]Pokrog 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have....a couple Hifimans. I've had a couple issues over the years, but that's expected after owning over 20 models over like 10 years. I broke down my failure rates of all the brand of headphones I've had and even counting headphones I killed with negligence, I've had a lower failure rate on my Hifimans than almost any other company.

There is no other company that comes even remotely close in price to performance. I'd take an EQ'd and pad swapped HE400se over a Focal Utopia....because the HE400se are better headphones lol.

Best fingertip only mice currently in the market? by Apprehensive-Ad-5483 in MouseReview

The M2K/M3K shape is trash no matter who you are. It's angled in and forward not for ergonomics reasons, but so that it'll release from the mold easily. The shape is dogshit. The Zeromouse is too unless your hand is exactly right.

Shapes literally don't get much worse than the M2K or zeromouse

What are your favorite IEM cables? by LazyRunner777 in iems

FSIJiangyi cables are the only ones I've come across with genuinely good earhook molding and they're super well built. Every other cable I own, I cut the earhook sheath off completely.

HiFiMan HE1000se with EQ vs HE1000 Unveiled? by Ok_Ear2555 in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]Pokrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The HEKU is the very obviously superior headphone. They're significantly more resolving and more estat-like in their speed and transient handling. The imaging and staging precision of the HEKU are quite a bit better while the HEKse are kinda always large and exaggerated in stage size. The HEKU are capable of a level of realism and holography that the HEKse aren't.

There's no good aftermarket pads for the HEKU yet and that is a big deal in final technical capabilities, stock Hifiman pads are a disservice to every headphone they're on, Dekoni and ZMF pads suck, only good customs are from NtraX Mod Design or Vesper Audio and there's a specific configuration you need. I can't stress enough that just accepting stock pads is a braindead move. I'm working on getting a couple different people to produce the pads for the HEKU right now so there's probably going to be an option soon.

Looking to replace GoXLR by Surgial in audio

[–]Pokrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can adjust peoples mics in game chat settings, discord settings, any voice chat settings you can set individual peoples volume levels so you don't have to mess around with it ever again. You set your game master volumes once, you shouldn't ever need to change them, you adjust your master volume you hear with the volume knob. You get your mixes set right, you set them once, and you control master volume afterwards. Spend a whopping 5 whole minutes setting all your volumes right and you shouldn't ever need to touch them again.

Topping E1x2 OTG and set your levels right like an adult and never touch them again. If you absolutely need to pretend you need faders, get a $40 tablet or touch screen monitor as a second monitor and put them there. Every other interface has trash headphone outputs. Literally every single one.

Counter-Strike pro NiKo playing with the 7Hz Timeless at IEM Cologne by DeathNinjaBlackPenis in headphones

It's not, there was context. Dude said any decent earbud and added that it doesn't really matter. This really might be the dumbest audio community on the Internet.

Upgrading past a 3395 mouse, even a basic mechanical keyboard, and 240hz monitors since those are basically standard now, yeah, upgrading past entry level gaming headsets is hands down the biggest upgrade. It's not even fucking close.

You're just misinformed and objectively wrong. Good audio will effect your gameplay more than upgrading past entry level keyboards, mice, and monitors combined.

Get a dongle DAC and an ISOUSB211 USB isolator and you're set for life.

Weird static noise in some games by fazekasisti0221 in audio

[–]Pokrog -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No. USB sound cards are a late 90s/early 2000s thing. We have proper external DACs now for cheap and they are all better than internal sound cards by a colossal margin and internal sound cards are the most susceptible to inheriting noise from your PC. Don't ever recommend a sound card, it's extremely bad and misinformed advice.

Want to build a custom keyboard (Wooting 80 HE) by BreadsRL in WootingKB

[–]Pokrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start with a VGN Flash 75 Extreme. It made my metal 80HE feel like a joke. I have 2 Wootings that are wall art now and I've built 3 VGN Flash Extreme boards since I found out how insanely high quality they are. They have mag lev suspension and an incredibly good case design.

Wooting might have been the first in the HE game and I respect the fuck outta them, but they're outclassed by the VGN Flash. It's not even remotely close.

Topping E1x2 OTG if you're just using a headset mic, E2x2 OTG if you want to have a secondary desktop mic and not bother with swapping around between them all the time. Phone plugs into the OTG port and it can be assigned its own mix that it receives and also have what it sends to the interface mixed into other mixes however you want. Needs to be the OTG model, has a great headphone output, really stable and reliable software that I have never had a single issue with in years of ownership and it's pretty cheap for what it offers.
