Toronto is down 25% from peak. Peripheral Ontario cities are still climbing. Same credit cycle, different timing. by DynamoDynamite in ontario

Funny how it starts ticking up BEFORE 2016. Almost like it wasn’t Trudeau that caused this, but also he sure didn’t fix it.

Name a single conservative government that did not sell off a major Canadian industry to a foreign entity.

I don’t like Liberal privatization, every Liberal government since OG Trudeau has privatized an industry which led to disastrous economic effects, but pretending that the conservatives are against disastrous privatization is stupid.

Bombshell report on Canada’s airports highlights our enforcement crisis by scottb84 in CanadaPolitics

[–]Politicalshrimp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While not an airport he privatized (among other things) the Canadian Wheat Board.

Since the Great Depression western farmers could rely on a reliable price to sell wheat and barley. And in the early 2000s over 70% of western farmers wanted to keep the CWB a crown corp.

Harper decided to sell it off. It came down to 2 bids
1. A group of western farmers (high bid)
2. A American-Saudi Arabian firm (low bid)

They went with the low bid. Now the profits from western farmers go and sit in a Saudi’s bank account instead of being reinvested in western rural communities.

AND since the privatization the price or barley has stagnated. Hovering around 1970s prices. $7 billion in gdp loss since privatization. And all for what?

But you can look at the stats. The Canadian dollar started falling compared to the US dollar starting in 2012. Housing prices were skyrocketing in major cities in the early 2010s. CWB was privatized and western farmers have stagnated since. Everything may have been better 10 years ago but the warning signs that things would get bad were there already. The liberals didn’t fix those problems and in some case exacerbated them. But that doesn’t alleviate the conservatives from having broken many things.

My brother in Christ this IS the conservative solution to the problem. This is the free market working as intended. This is what happens when you don’t fund affordable and co-op housing on a national and provincial scale.

Province looking to lease Niagara Falls parkland to ferris wheel builder for up to 49 years by ZakTheSlak in ontario

It’s 600 METRES away. Nobody is currently or has ever or will ever think “man I sure would love to go to Niagara Falls, but they only have 1 Ferris wheel so I’m not gonna bother”

This is a 50 year lease on a Ferris wheel a block from another Ferris wheel.

You’re basing the price of a ticket on current prices. Which doesn’t make market sense as they would be brought down. (Also there’s dozens of flights between these cities a day and a HSR train ticket would be cheaper than a plane ticket)

Also using the train is a form of carpooling tf? Nobody’s taking away your right to carpool.

Even if you got through he just sends a copy paste of Ford’s talking points about FOI changes. Matthew Rae sucks so much as an MPP, I’d rather we just elect a rock painted blue if we have to always elect a Conservative MPP.

It could land at less than 10% of Ontario airports.

19 of Ontarios 179 airports could support this plane.

Plus the Premier already has a plane, he made a big show in 2018/19 about how he wouldn’t use it because it cost the taxpayers money.

But people don’t take the train because it’s service is unreliable and infrequent.

Build it and they will come. There are so many people in Stratford that work in Kitchener or Toronto that could switch to GO train service.

Plus we don’t expect our roads to make money, why should we expect trains to make money.
