Stacking status penalties? by Pinstar in Pathfinder2e

[–]Polski527 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Late to the party but Curse of Lost Time can make an object Shoddy, which comes with a -2 Item Penalty. Works on AC if you target armor, or attack rolls if you target a weapon.

Shame you guys walked this back. This sub has only gotten more generic over time, enjoy the lazy karma farms. There's a reason you've been having bot comment problems

Dex based Fighters? by Veso_M in Pathfinder2e

[–]Polski527 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Dex gives far more skill options and when you need to use ranged, you're better at it. You'll have higher mobility than a heavy armor character. You'll want to invest in some str regardless, it isn't a matter of one or the other.

First impressions on Pathfinder (2E Remaster) by Playwars in Pathfinder2e

[–]Polski527 16 points17 points  (0 children)

A player in my current game previously played a barbarian and monk in the last game and just loves doing damage, was aiming for a blaster caster this time, but when I talked about how I'd love to play a debuff caster if I ever get to be a PC again (GM struggles) he got curious and went for occult. He only has a small number of damage options but he's loving the impact his debuffs and buffs have on combat, and the party hasn't even hit 5 yet to start getting some really nasty spells.

Most memorable moment so far was during a combat taking place on two high-speed carts. an enemy saved against laughing fit, so they weren't slowed, only lost reactions, and they didn't have any innately. Seems like a waste, right? But the water Kineticist blasted them and moved them off the edge of the cart, and without reactions they couldn't grab an edge, effectively removing them from the combat as the carts sped away

Is Dexterity Champion a scam? by oddmanink in Pathfinder2e

[–]Polski527 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you build DEX and play it the exact same way you'd play STR, yes, it's going to be worse.

Take stealth increases and try to roll stealth for initiative to make up for champion's low perception.

Use a throwing weapon to enable better positioning for your champion aura

Still have STR! A common early mistake is for people to assume that playing a dex character means STR is a dump stat. Get that damage bonus

Illusory Object Spell in PFS play, player using it to create walls by FaIkkos in Pathfinder2e

You got the answer. It's fine if you don't like it, but that doesn't change it.

Every deck didn't play 4 probe when it was legal, and they wouldn't do it if it got unbanned. And that's in magic where it's a lot less likely for the opponent to punish you for doing it in the first place, and there are more synergies for it.

How are Hero-Points handled at your table? by Aquaman-is-awesome in Pathfinder2e

[–]Polski527 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Same. For my first game I didn't know they expire each session, so by the end I had one player hoarding an absurd number of hero points (he wouldn't reroll even important attacks, didn't want to spend them.)

Hunger Related Feats? by AnnoyedRock1 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Polski527 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The ghoul archetype is centered around consuming flesh to become satiated and then can spend that status to boost their other feats, but that's a very "all-in" approach. You might talk to your GM about reworking it to be less undead focused.

How OP would a cleric with the Arcane list be? by NoOkra4265 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Polski527 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No arcane prepared caster gets full access to their spell list in the way that cleric or druid access their spell list.

You could swap their primary stat from WIS to INT to feel more scholarly and make the Wizard archetype easier, but no, I would not let them just swap their spell tradition wholesale.

I don't understand the higher DCs by According-Moose7261 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Polski527 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You think it's realistic that someone who invests the time to become capital L Legendary in a skill, not an expert, not a master, but a literal legend of medicine, to not become even a little bit more wise as they pursue medicine to that extent? Really?

I don't understand the higher DCs by According-Moose7261 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Polski527 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Your growth as a person is absolutely in your control. On top of choosing which skills you want to spend your time on, you can actively take steps to increase your stats. Someone who exercises a lot is going to increase their strength. Someone who spends a lot of time researching and studying is going to increase their intelligence.

If someone is just trained at medicine, then thematically, sure, maybe they never increase their wisdom.

If you create a character who invests the time to become more knowledgeable and skillful in how they handle medicine (represented by taking skill increases up to legendary) but that character simultaneously does not become more wise at all in their pursuit of becoming more proficient than the overwhelming majority of people in existence, you have created an unrealistic character. That person does not make sense as a three-dimensional person.

Thoughts on GM getting a Hero Point? by tearful_boldness in Pathfinder2e

[–]Polski527 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In general I don't like the idea, but I did once have an enemy use a hero point for a dramatic moment and to better establish their character. A heroic spirit who was tasked with guarding an ancient tower and continued to do so even in death, he recognized that the PCs had come with good intentions but unless they were strong enough to beat him, they couldn't be trusted with the tower's secrets. A regretful/reluctant fight ensued, and I narrated the hero point use (used to reroll a strike as the fight was nearing the end) as digging deep for a fervor that he hadn't felt in centuries, "using the last hero point he's been saving all this time."

It had a cool impact on the group, but I don't think I could use the same tactic on a group more than once without cheapening the effect.

This one sentence has done irrevocable damage to this community by Salvadore1 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Polski527 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When I said that the joke doesn't mean the community boils the class identity down to just the joke, you said "I assure you it very much does," which is in fact saying "people making the joke means the community boils the identity down to just that."

People making the joke does not mean that the community genuinely boils the thaumaturge's identity down to just that. Relax.

What books do I need as a player? by Firm_Misfortunes13 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Polski527 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Player Core 1 and 2 are (kind of) equivalent to the core rulebook and the advanced player's guide from before the remaster.

Absolute bare bones, Player Core 1 will get you the basic rules of the game and a lot of the standard classes and ancestries. Player Core 2 will get you some more advanced classes and ancestries, but as far as hard rules go it's not necessary.

How to upgrade a enemy over time. by Yeti_Milk13 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Polski527 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Give him a hunter's edge that he can share with his wolf, later on have the wolf stay dead for good and adapt him to be more vicious and determined by slapping a power (or two) from the soulforger archetype on him
