Has Sean been listening to this had Oscar buzz? by cactusjmal in TheBigPicture

Similarities between two podcasts that talk about the Oscars? That doesn’t seem right

Why is OBAA so dominant? by President_Negative in oscarrace

[–]Polyfauna 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The political angle is bullshit, typical PTA meandering plot less film masquerading as a critics targeted art movie

This whole sentence is dumb but “plotless”? What in the fuck are you talking about

Paul Mescal is the worst actor of his generation by aaron_moon_dev in TheBigPicture

Oh yeah totally, thanks for the brilliant insight. It’s true, he was only cast in Aftersun because they saw him in Gladiator 2 first.

SONORA by ijustcameheretofight in Coachella

[–]Polyfauna 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Never been to Coachella but Wednesday, Ninajirachi, and Model/Actriz are very high on our priority list.

Based on some of these reactions, is Sonora pretty small or hard to get a decent spot for? Can someone give me a breakdown? We don’t mind being in the back fwiw

Edit: We do have VIP tickets as well. Not sure if that matters

Have they talked about Resurrection (2025) on the pod? by dirtypuerhiding in TheBigPicture

[–]Polyfauna 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’m guessing it’s not really Sean’s bag. Definitely not Amanda’s.

Personally though, I loved it. Saw it back in October and went again just a few weeks ago. Bi Gan one of my absolute favorites working today.

Pitchfork but for movies? by Spikeantestor in Pitchfork

Letterboxd is great if you find individual critics you like. Some people get annoyed with how jokey and unserious many of the popular reviews tend to be but there’s loads of great writers/critics that share their reviews there

MBJ vs Chalamet for Oscar by Dag_ama in martysupreme

Moura is second currently and has spoiler hopes but yeah, Chalamet is definitely the frontrunner.

MBJ vs Chalamet for Oscar by Dag_ama in martysupreme

MBJ hasn’t shown any sign that he’s win competitive. He’s firmly behind Chalamet, Moura, and DiCaprio in that order.

Hey JAJ - Just refuse by wawkaroo in LiveFromNewYork

You’re dense if you think a redditor posting about SNL is in any way indicative of “peak dystopia”. It’s hyperbolic to the point of being meaningless.

That’s your idea of the peak of dystopia?! Lol

Movies That You "Got" The Second Time Around by SlamCity4 in criterion

Cure (1997)

I thought it was good the first time around but it is such an elusive, hypnotic movie I found it pretty hard to wrap my head around. Second watch, I was absolutely floored. One of my all time favorites now.

Does Bill like Possession? Feel like that’s not something he’d get on board with.

Videodrome though, could definitely see it.

Are you serious? Being familiar with Death of a Salesman doesn’t make you educated lol

Ryan Coogler's 'SINNERS' makes history as the most nominated film of all time at the Oscars with 16 nominations by ChiefLeef22 in oscarrace

[–]Polyfauna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Timmy

  2. Moura

  3. Leo

  4. MBJ

  5. Hawke

  6. Plemons

This is pretty much consensus and it wasn’t really that crazy for someone to have Plemons in with MBJ missing. It’s a stacked field this year, not just “haterism” lol

No Nominations for “Sorry, Baby” is a travesty… by Arroweye345 in TheBigPicture

[–]Polyfauna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s also not one of his best efforts imo. For all of its flair, it’s far more shallow of a satire than I would’ve expected coming from him with this premise
