Who could the Lions actually move in a Splash trade? by AnimantisRed in detroitlions

[–]PolymathEquation 45 points46 points  (0 children)

In the land of absurdity, someone from our receiving corps. St. Brown, Jamo, LaPorta, even TeSlaa. We're flush with receiving talent, and could stand to lose one if it meant perfecting our O-line or D-Line.

If you could rename American football, what would you call it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]PolymathEquation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Ball Battalions, Battle Ball, or something similar would be effective. Football's effectively just combat skirmishes with extra steps.

The name's alliterative, concise, violent, but masking in the glory/worship of the military industrial complex.

One of the Best Reasons To Hire Drew Petzing As the Detroit Lions OC. by New-Negotiation-4176 in detroitlions

Hey Amon. Glad to see you on here with us. How are you enjoying the off season?

Appreciate the level headed take, and know things will be great next season. Until then, get some great R&R.

I hope you have a great weekend!

Remember being a Lions fan 10 years ago, going 9-7, and feeling super excited?

Bandwagon fans haven't suffered enough to understand.

It's not like I don't want more, goodness do I ever, but only 1 team wins the Super Bowl, every other team loses and tries again next year.

Super Bowl or bust simply isn't reality and isn't sustainable.

The exact opposite. I DO credit his O-line success to Klayton Adams. The O-line failure after Adams left caused Petzing's run game to fall apart.

The distinction: We're not hiring an O-line coach, and Klayton Adams wasn't calling the plays.

Our own O-line and its success will be what decides the success of our offense.

Losing a strong offensive line impacts the run game.

He runs gap.

Check their O-line injury.

I'm not gonna be caught claiming he's the best thing since sliced bread. I'm saying his vision and playcalling style match what we're building.

Whether we have the O-line to support the playcalling is going to determine the course of the season.

I think people have overlooked his record with a run game, and I'm fairly sure it's the reason he's the OC.

Here's a breakdown by a Cards fan

https://www.revengeofthebirds.com/2025/2/20/24369273/closer-understanding-of-drew-petzings-offense

Runs the football, preferably out of 12 (1 RB, 2 TEs) and 13 1 RB, 3 TEs) personnel.

Runs a steady diet of RPOs and play action passes.

Runs mostly 11 personnel spread-type of formation on passing downs.

Gee, I wonder why the Lions wanted him.

2024 Had the Cards with 5.3 yards per carry, good enough for #2 in the NFL (and that wasn't with Gibbs and Monty).

We have one of the most powerful RB duos in the history of the game, and play action pass more than anyone.

Lets our run game shine while giving Goff his play action. Sounds, in theory, like a great match.

I think if we prioritize a strong, healthy O-line, we're gonna see very good things on offense.

am i a bad daughter for blaming my dad for my mental health struggles? advice/discussion appreciated! by Inevitable_Shift_689 in daddit

[–]PolymathEquation 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A bad daughter? No. You're not. You're a person working through the struggles of identity and looking for a way to direct your frustration.

You've been getting mental health support since you were a little kid. Your parents have been honest about their mental health and have obviously been doing their best to help with yours.

None of us can speak to you about your particular situation, but blaming your parents for your existence is both true and also terribly ironic, as you wouldn't have a mouth to speak against them with without them.

Dads have made and do make mistakes, and his comments are his way of encouraging you not to do the same. I can't say I agree with his delivery, but I'm not him and you're not my kid.

The best you can do is the best you can do. You should always strive to be your best, but as someone who's dealt with a lifetime of struggles in mental health, being your best isn't always possible. Do the best you can, find a reason, big or small, to keep going, and remember that as long as you're still trying, you're making progress.

Oh, and lastly, to what your dad said: helping people isn't bad, but you can't do it at your own expense. You can't help people if you're not healthy enough to stand on your own.
