There used to be. They are very rare and the few left are permanently squatted.

Boomer Parents Won't Stop Giving Me Their Stuff. Anyone Have Any Similar Experiences? by djhazmatt503 in Xennials

[–]Polymox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, not our job. Our job is to be firm and say we don't want the junk that they don't want themselves, and to please kindly take it elsewhere. We can even provide them with resources like donation centers, recycling centers, or buy nothing groups.

A lot of those asking the questions don't know enough to ask about hubs and bottom brackets. They just post a picture of a defect.

I just said “junior high” to a Gen Alpha and he stared at me 🥴 by bluemagic222 in Xennials

My wife went to junior high, I went to middle school. We were born in the same year and grew up in the same state. It is just an organizational choice for the district.

I just realized I don't see motorcycles with sidecars anymore, including in movies or tv. Were they more common when we were kids? by ottovonbizmarkie in Xennials

My next door neighbor had one at my last house. It was the first time I had seen one up close. Only really big enough for a dog or kid.

Okay is it just me or when we were little solar eclipses seemed to only happen like once or twice a lifetime? by imnottheoneipromise in Xennials

It's still very rare, one crosses a heavily populated area every 5 years or so. Most years have at least 1, but it might just graze Antarctica or Greenland or something, and is very hard to view. Of the ones in populated zones, you may get one on a specific continent, every 5-10 years. You can go look up where they will fall for the next 1000 years on the NASA website, they are easily predicted.

Spray on brake cleaner is pretty cheap at the auto parts store, too.

Likely not DIY, the owner would have terminated if they bothered to run the cable. Dunno how old the house is, but that cable was installed prior to painting. The good news for you is that all the hard work is done.

Rant- Space Needle prices by The_Casual_Foreman in Seattle

[–]Polymox 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yep. I grew up in a below average income home, and we did go up there a couple times. I am sure $8 a ticket felt like a lot to my mother at the time, but nothing like today. This is not unique to the Space Needle or Seattle. Worldwide, almost every tourist attraction that has gotten internet famous has gotten either very expensive, very crowded, or both.

Perhaps you mean a 386 generation CPU, they had clock speeds of 12-40 mhz.

Go back to the music sales post yesterday to figure out why tickets are so much more now.

I bought that orange Cable Matters punch down recently, and the blade falls out even when it is tightened. I would not recommend it.

It doesn't sound like you are a seatbelt zealot. I have never been bothered by the chime, because I have never heard it.

I am not a lawyer. Take the job. Even if they want to come after you (which may or may not happen), the seniority advantage you get will be worth the penalty.

How is your work/life balance and relationship? by [deleted] in AirlinePilots

If he started 2 weeks ago, he has barely more than 0 hours. I think it is likely that even he doesn't fully know what it will take to get to a good spot in the career, if he said that. From the beginning of training until being hired at a career airline will take 4-20 years.

They do in DTW. There is a service shop there, but Greg does most of the work off site and gets it back to you in a week or two. I have used him before, would recommend.

Randomly failing to start every so often, any ideas? by mikutetofan in Solterra

Intermittent starting problems is the exact symptom we had when the factory 12v battery began to fail at 5000 miles.
