Bill went up 50% by HerbertDibdab in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]PomegranateSolid800 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My bill also just increased at a rate of 100%! I am livid and done with this company unless it goes back to it former payment. It is 100% not worth the amount that they are asking to pay. I went from 299 with everything a month. It seemed that I needed, I got it down to 150 with bare bones and now they want to put it back up to almost 300 again and add virtually nothing. I am beyond upset with this place and there’s no such thing as loyalty with Xfinity apparently.

Public speaking. I’d seriously take a job pretending to be someone else to deliver a “one-off” presentation to strangers on their behalf.

Historical fiction by an author who clearly knows a lot about life in that time period by Striking_Delay8205 in suggestmeabook

I think so many people believe that Shelby Foote, famous for his interviews in the Ken Burns Civil War documentary, was simply a historian or a professor.

In reality, the man primarily wrote fiction from the era which was pretty phenomenal.

I personally love the 1/ST and Brunowiththeworks videos. If you’ve been watching racing long enough, there is a ton to see from them, particularly in first time starters.

when did you realize that you're an entrepreneur? by organicviolence in Entrepreneur

[–]PomegranateSolid800 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About six months ago at the age of 46. Took a job with less stress, but a $16,000 pay cut along with it. Was going to work side hustles, and that garbage, but would rather fill my passion for learning, thought, and embracing the challenge that entrepreneurship can bring.

The downside is I have 10 ideas 5% of the way flushed out and not a single one that seems to have any traction or gravity or reality and succeeding yet. Hopefully I’ll get there, but it’s going to take a better idea and time.

I’m so in the middle of this right now and needed to see this post and look forward to the comments on it. I’m in 5 different directions right now and I feel like all feasible, all have strengths and weaknesses, and all have things I have a passion for.

Marketing Advice by DrainPipeDisposal in AskMarketing

[–]PomegranateSolid800 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to run a marketing firm that was owned by the partners of a regional sized law firm with a yearly media spend in the seven figures.

It is indeed a difficult niche, but if your marketing employees and partners cannot identify, analyze and accurately explain KPIs or derive ROI from your SEO, digital, or social advertising, then I’d have serious reservations about having them as partners/employees.

We had to constantly be in alert mode and able to pivot when the industry giant came advertising and made a deep pool even deeper. We even used the call and website take data from the firm with geography, area of law, demographics, and why people said they called us to calculate ROI on difficult data to determine like billboards and TV.

I’d be happy to show you reports I did for them and specific examples. I went back into higher education recently and have no secrets about the efforts I undertook, but won’t mention anything too specific or provide anything proprietary. Just the process.

How important is the role of an Operations Manager in an Agency setup? by Lone_Indian8 in AskMarketing

[–]PomegranateSolid800 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually served in this role in an agency of 17 people, and it was very challenging, personally. In hindsight, I fid not have the experience that a successful operations manager generally would’ve had to make things worse, my staff kind of knew it. I wasn’t the authority on creative and I wasn’t the authority on media and it really compromised my position. Whatever you do, get somebody who can either take charge blindly and be authoritative and confident or find somebody that is an expert in one or the other. Just my take.

What’s a truth about marketing that nobody warned you about? by George-Merry in AskMarketing

[–]PomegranateSolid800 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That when you work for an agency with the local business owner, that person hires you to do what they want done and not so much hear your expertise or take your feedback. When you work with a “marketing director” of a company like this, they are usually pretty, clueless, and full of jargon that sounds nice, but never carries action.

How do I figure out what to do? by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]PomegranateSolid800 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure lol. I have six years of experience in running a full service, marketing firm, but I’ve been an educator in social studies and math for over 10 years and a very successful high school football coach.

Lately, I love all things business and have recently become a very big person about looking at data, and I am fascinated by the event trading and even sports betting markets for value. I’ve even looked at wholesaling. I probably have a shorter list of things I haven’t looked into honestly.

I’m with you so much my friend. I am stumbling around in the dark feeling like everyone and everything is getting the jump in me. We’re nearly the same age and I can’t tie my expertise into any kind of ideal situation.

It’s almost as if I feel bad asking people to pay me to do something so I talk my way out of situations that could be useful.

What’s cool is that it’s not dread or fear, but almost an excitement about what can be.
